Who Was Your First Hair Idol?

Alrighty,

This forum exists because we want long healthy hair. Who had the first head of hair that made you say, "I want hair like that!"

For me it was Darcel Wynne of Solid Gold. I didn't know if her hair was all hers or not, all I know is I wanted it!:lachen:

A few years later Sade came on the scene and her hair made me

Shoot, I think I am still chasing that and its been years.

How about you all?

Haven't thought about her in years. I think it's her hair. It didn't look weavy or wiggy.

I can't think of personal hair idols - I go by style - i.e. "I want that hair style or that look" and usually I get it and enjoy it for a while. But I don't recall saying "I want to grow hair like ____."

When I was younger I really really really wanted Angela Bassett's hair from Waiting to Exhale-after the cut. Never really dawned on me that I could literally have it because it was a wig.

Oh yeah. She did have lovely hair.

Yes she did. Remember that brand she modeled for...Alternatives or something like that? I remember their packaging was green. Anyhow, I used to think that putting their oil sheen in my hair would make it grow out like her hair. Talk about warped.

I swear, after I saw this ad for the first time 1996 - I used any and every product by them that I could find! Her hair in the original ad was just so lush and healthy looking! I want hair as healthy looking as this - but it should also be WL!

And how could I forget my absolute favorite of favorites - Ms. Wanakee:

Girrrrrlll. I was just talking to a client about Darcell. Not only did I want her hair, but I also wanted to dance like her too. I used to put my jacket on my head to get my own fake lenght. It was perfect too because the flaps flipped up and made me look I had Farrah Faucett wings. :spinning:

To be honest my first inspiration was on another site. Her name was Mccellly. Or something like that, but she was the first person I knew who had used the Cathy Howse method and she retained all of her lenght by baggying. When I came here, Happily Me was my first inspiration though I think she went by another name back then.

I had no idea ORS has been out for that long. I didn't start to see them until like 2000...maybe 2002.

Yes, ma'm! It was my freshman year of college. The first ad I saw was in Sophisticate's Black Hair Care - a friend and I went all over Columbus, Ohio trying to find ORS products! :)

Don't stone me but my first was my first grade teacher. I've always stanned for red hair. Well her hair was thick, red, and shiny. She actually wore her hair down unlike most teachers. My aunt cut a fool when she found out. Funny thing, I didn't stan because she was white or the hair was straight. I stanned because of the length, thickness, and color. I still stan for redheads. The movie Last Holiday gave me all types of hair porn. All the white actresses were redheads:lol:

My first AA idol was some girl who was a friend of my friend's cousin. I met her at a wedding. She had a curly ponytail. It was SL. We got in the pool and her hair stretched to MBL:blush: :blush: At the wedding, as it dried it got shorter and shorter. I was in awe.

Tia & Tamera Mowry

Kenya Moore. I think I was around 14 yrs old when I saw her in the Pantene commercials and begged my mom to let me start using the Pantene line so I could have hair like hers.

I liked how she had curly hair/wavy hair/puffy hair one day and straight the next. I wish I had a picture from that Diet Coke commercial she did. She was HAWT.

EDIT: FOUND a TAB commercial
YouTube - 1984 TaB Commercial with Jayne Kennedy

Also, I loved Amel Larrieux because I thought my texture was similar and I just wanted her length. I think I'm close!
