Who Supports Your Hair Growth Goals in Your Life?

You ladies...a girlfriend of mine whom I've been TRYING to encourage to join....and, begrudgingly, my SO.....he's not really interested but he is supportive anyway. ;)

My husband wasn't supportive, initially, but now he gets it. My mother is very supportive as well.

I must say, my husband's the best, he is always complimenting me on everything, he helps with measuring my hair and what everelse I need.

Everyone in my life is very suportive. My mother, cousins and friends has joined in on the fun also.

My hairdressers the best, she does exactly what I ask of her.

I have no compliants, at all.:D

My hubby is really supportive. He says that I have always been crazy about my hair and always reading hair magazines. But now he says that it looks healthy and is growing pretty fast. He makes fun of me when he sees me on the board. He asked what a PJ was and I told him, he started laughing and called me a Product Queen.

My stylist, the one person whom I thought would be against it is all for it. I told her about stretching my relaxer and she gave me some good ideas for as far as protective hairstyles and tips. Since I started my challenge I was kinda reluctant about the washing my hair every week, which my hubby swears up and down that isnt good (like he really knows, men I tell ya) But she helped to assure me that it was prefectly fine and she washes her hair every other day. Even gave me some conditioner for free on my last visit to her.

No one. My mother thinks my efforts to get health long hair are futile. She often says she wishes she would have married someone with a "better" grade of hair so I wouldn't have such a hard time growing hair out...

My boyfriend is my partner in crime. A man that will try MTG with you is a man that really loves you:lachen:

He gets to enjoy the benefits of my journey so of COURSE hes going to be supportive. He's learned quite a bit along the way himself as well.

My mother is also very supportive, we talk about it often. I've never had long hair in my life, so its exciting for both me and for her. Not long ago we had a discussion after she saw a picture I sent her (she felt she failed me as a child..but I can't blame her for that, she just didn't know, you know?) And she tried, and she loved me bald or not.

Even though she's always had long hair she does benefit from what I learn. (especially now that she has lupus)

So I feel very lucky to have a wonderful support system. If I could only get my father to stop using afrosheen though....

GIRL! I thought my boyfriend was the only one! He is for the length but against the transition. He likes long straight hair but hopefully he will learn to love my naps, and if not he gets the boot! Everyone pretty much encourages me to grow and not to chop  All in all I think my family is big on hair care and everyone pretty much takes care of thier hair.

I have one friend who wears locs who is fully supportive of my hair goals. Nobody else understands what I'm trying to do. She lurks on this board and was the one who sent me a bottle of MTG.

I'd have to say no one really.. I talk to my gf about my hair, and she encourages me to wear my hair out as it is rather than wear weaves and braids, she thinks I hide my hair by doing that.
She really doesnt get the whole idea of protective styles and stuff, well havent explained them to her, so maybe that's why.

My husband just looks at all the products piling up, he doesnt ask what I'm doing anymore, no comments.
He love me with long hair, weave or otherwise. So when it finally gets to the length that I like it at, I know he'll appreciate it then.

My husband laughs at me when I tell him about the latest thing I read on my hair board but he is really very supportive. He loves long hair on women and he has long hair himself (He is white).

It's funny because when I met him I used to flat iron my hair constantly and it was about BSL when stretched. I stopped flat ironing regularly after we were married and started having babies and I just didn't have the time to mess with my hair for hours. My hair has just thrived without the constant heat and it's grown so much. My husband LOVES my natural hair so much more than my straight hair! He thinks long curly hair is the sexiest thing ever. I wish I had known that when we first met! He wants me to wear my hair down and wild all the time.

Hmm, I never really talk about my hair growth goals, because everyone that sees me now takes a while and then says, you've cut your hair really short you had such nice hair. so i pretty much keep it to myself, I told my husband and my mom and my sister that i'm regrowing my hair.

My boyfriend would love it if I transitioned, though he does enjoy watching "the process" as he calls it. I will admit, its slightly unnerving to have someone watch what your doing and want yout to explain it in detail:ohwell: . But he would love to get me into braids or dreds. Always talking bout how cute they look, blah blah blah (I ain't doing dreds) They can look cute don't get me wrong, they just won't look cute on ME:lol:

Hey ladies! I would have to say that my little sister is the only one who supports my hair goals. she sees the progress that i have made and is now trying to grow her hair to new lengths too. I am so greatful for this forum because if you don't have the support you need you can always find it here.:p

No one either supports it, or doesn't support it. LOL, it's usually not a topic of discussion unless someone asks specifially a hair question on what to do with or use in their hair. Other than that, I really don't see the need to look for support when it comes to my hair. Now when it comes to this dag gone CPA exam, or trying to go back to school...I'll be CRYING for support!

That's terrible :-(

Guess you'll have to prove her wrong and that your hair WILL strive :)

No one until my cousin recently...Her hair started having issues and she was like "o, hell no" and starting coming on the board and getting tips....Everyone else doesnt get it....My mom thinks I'm nuts....

My husband is the biggest support I have with everything in my life. My hair is a big deal because HE LOVES LONG HAIR!!!!! He encourages me to wash and condition it all the time, asks me what I need from the bss, etc. Sometimes, I look at him and go "WOW"! I'm so blessed to have him!

There was a time in the beginning when he looked under the cabinet in the bathroom and said "do you think I can have some space for my stuff?" "what do you use all of that hair stuff for?" After I told him, he said "Alright, do your thing...I'll find another spot for my stuff!" LOL:lol:  :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

Y'all make me sick with your sweet husbands, boyfriends, and friends (lol). Honestly, you guys are blessed.

Every one in my family, either supports me or doesn't care. My mom started transitioning about the same time I bced but she gave up in less than two months, she thinks her hair just can't be natural. Which I don't understand because both she and my sister have a softer hair texture (3c???) than I do. They don't NEED a relaxer.

In any case, I still give my mom advice based on the info on lhcf and she gets super excited about my hair journey, she keeps saying that she can't wait until I get my good hair back, and since I have always been 4Z she means thick and long.

With me its my mum. She is a trained hairdresser and has been taught some very bad practices - think overlapping relaxers bone straight, having to have your hair dirty in order for it to grow and soaking freshly relaxed hair in grease then blow drying!

So when I 1st started on this journey and told her about co-washing weekly and stretching relaxers e.t.c she was warning me my hair was going to fall out in big chunks; but seeing my progress and showing her the lovely heads of lchf she just cant believe her eyes.

Now she is the one who takes my pics, encourages me to stretch and she is 1st person to tell me when my ng is looking too dry. :D

My mum! She kinda keeps her hair long so we can match. <3 Every goal I set she follows which is cute but she's got that hair that grows regardless and fast too so I wish I inherited her fast growth rate. She was a little apprehensive at first I think when I was SL but as my hair started growing and my methods worked, her mindset changed very quickly.

1 : all of you are helping me so much
2: my hubby is into the game too :-)
3: my cousin and a good friend are on the same journey (i still havent managed to make them come and join us on LHCF) !

You know Ive never really told anyone my hair gaols. My family and BF are just regular, they like my natural hair but I dont discuss anything with them.

My BF will request hairstyles he likes lolol

the only support I need is my resolve to stay natural
