Who doesn't want hair longer than bra strap length?

I don't want past BSL hair. It gets harder to detangle as it gets longer but that's ok. Right now the back is between my shoulder blades when stretched and it's gettin ornery. I just can't see myself dealing with waistlength natural hair...I'd be detangling for hours.

I recently hit my goal of brastrap length. That's fine for me. I have no desire to have longer hair, although I do find that's it's hard to snap out of hair growth mode just cause that's what I'm used to. Now I'd like to focus on growing out my layers.

Same here. I never was interested in brastrap length hair when I was relaxed and I am certainly not aiming for that with my natural hair. A little below shoulder length is perfect for me, as a matter of fact as long as I can get my hair into a comfortable low ponytail I will be good regardless of the actual length of my hair.

I just cut 2-3 inches off because I didnt like my hair past bra strap. It was just "there" and wouldnt hold a curl or anything,it was annoying....I am bra strap and I think I'll pretty much just keep it trimmed at this length.

When I was chin length, all I wanted was collar bone. When I was collarbone all I wanted was shoulder. Shoulder led to shoulderblade, shoulderblade led to armpit (hate that term), armpit led to bra strap, brastrap led to midback and now midback is leading into waist. It's addictive. I don't want waist length so that I can style it or manage it or anything else other than to say I could grow it that long.
So, I say all this to say, that you might think you only want brastrap now... but talk to me when you get there... you might be humming a different tune

:lachen: I was just about to write EVERYTHING you said!!! Goals ARE additctive. My *goal* is waistlength (I am short waisted), but I am MORE than sure my maintenance/tolerance level will ultimately be bottom brastrap. I just want to *see* if I can get it to WL.

My goal is armpit length. That's long for me. If my hair reaches bra strap length, that would be the icing on the cake.

Anything beyond that would be too much for me to maintain. I do admire those ladies who have hair beyond bra strap length though. Their hair albums are very encouraging.

Now that Im there, I dont think I can handle much more, its harder to shampoo and everything. Ill take what I can get, meaning I wont cut, but if this is my max length I will NOT complain!

I just recently had my mother cut off about 2 1/2 inches of my hair. I always have these renegade strands of hair that just grow so much faster than the rest and it just looks raggedy in the back, so I had her cut it back up to the fullest point. So right now I'm probably like 2 inches below bra strap. I don't think I want my hair any longer than that. I actually plan on getting a layered style cut into it next month. As long as I can keep it healthy and full at that length, I might as well play in it, instead of just growing it to be growing it.

For me, I would love to have brastrap hair at the most, but I will NOT be making special efforts to get there once I reach armpit. By this I mean, that I will not be washing twice per week or wearing up every single day and using NO heat like I do at the moment as I am getting fed up with it now and I want to enjoy my hair!

Once I reach armpit, I plan to wash & deep condition and dry under my hood dryer once per week, wear my hair out everday and and trim every 8 weeks.

If my hair manages to get to brastrap with me doing these things that will be great but if not I am not bothered because at least I will be at armpit and will be able to maintain this length and I would be very happy with armpit length.

I TOTALLY agree with CONTROLFREAK, as I am 5'11...
I've been trying to figure out where I want to ultimately grow my hair out to...After purchasing a wig(loving the length)- I dont think hair past BSL will work for me...Somewhere between APL(by 10/06) and BSL-would suit me just fine.

Oh- and as a Natural head (4a with some larger curls)- i can only imagine the difficulty of washing,styling,etc...

I hadn't really thought to set a definitive long-term goal, as I would be happy to get all of my hair to a healthy shoulder lenght right now. However, when I start reaching those short-term goals, I would probably even venture to WL only to prove to those around me that it can be done -- by ME!

There are so many doubters surrounding me that they even got me still harboring some skepticism deep down [:sekret: did I say that?] That's why I have to do daily visits to LHCF -- to remind me that with consistency and patience, I will begin to see results. Knowing me, I'll get addicted to growing, growing, growing!

I struggle sometimes with what I have...the tangles, gettin it caught on my purse/seatbelt/lip (MAC lipglass & Lancome Juicy Tubes are GLUE  )

I've posted about this before....I've actually ripped out hairs messin round with MAC lipglass!

Between APL & BSL for me too!

I would be satisfied with brastrap length hair. Anything longer than that I don't think I could manage unless I went to a hair salon permanently to maintain it and have it straigtened there. If I were to maintain it and it were that long, it would always be in a bun. :sekret:

I agree - especially with the buns. thinking about it, having longer than brastrap hair WOULD be cute, i mean, having it rolled up all day then in the night remove the pins and its flows down and bounces and its comes to the end...ahhhhhhhhhhh :ohwell:

I always go back and forth with this one. Some days I want waistlength and other days I would be satisfied with mid-back or a couple of inches below bra length...I'll see when I get to bra length. I love waistlength but my hair is mega thick and I can just imagine having waistlength mega thick hair can draw unwanted attention sometimes...like comments like 'it's unbeweavable!' or maybe people thinking I got a lot of times on my hands or I'm a stripper....but then again who cares what people think? They don't pay my bills!

I don't really like to say my hair length goals because i am afraid of the disapointment that will come if I dont meet them. Whether the reasons are genetic or it just isn't in God will, I will still be a little disappointed.

For now I want my hair to reach the end of my brastrap :) ....
Or just a little further past my shoulders....

pssssh who knows!! lol

Armpit length or BSL is enough for me. I'm only 5'2" and very petite so I don't want my hair to be wearing me (so to speak). The only true goal I've set for myself is to see how long it will grow in a year and how much healthier it can be.

It's perfect for me too! I thought I was the oddball considering everyone wants either bra clasp or waistlength...

Brastrap is enough for me. As my hair is getting longer, I'm dealing with more tangles, etc. So once I get to brastrap, that's it for me!

I agree. Ladies who aren't at bra-strap and/or have never been there, just wait until you get there and see if you feel the same. Bra-strap really isn't as long as it seems.

haha, i'm a senior in HS and i went to visit a college in Boston last weekend and i'm looking at the showers and the little bit of time I'll probably be have before i have to go to breakfast and stuff like that and i'm just thinking "there is no way I will be able to focus an insane amount of time to my hair!!! especially if it'll be a lot longer..."

so... yeah i'm practically off the waistlength challenge... Now my ultimate goal is 27".... that's 3" below brastrap. That was my goal when I first joined actually :D It's funny b/c i was on the challenge and whatever person's hair that I admired was always a few inches above waist, with long layers and like a U-Cut too. I think I will get a U shape as well, with some long layers, or maybe just a U shape period, with some bangs. Oh boy, I think my hair will look nice.
By the time I go to college in August 06, i need to have PERFECTED my regimen and use a minimal amount of products and know how to rollerset b/c i don't wanna airdry too often in that cold weather, and i wont have people to rollerset my hair for me.

So, 27" is my goal... and I hope to get there either May 06 or August 06... i have plenty of time. I'm not in a hurry but i dont want setback either, you know?

I'd like mine to grow just shy of bra strap length and maintain it from there. Anything longer than that would surely get on my nerves.

I do not want waist length hair-I dont even want bra strap length hair. I am going to keep my hair just past the shoulders. Everyone looks so pretty with such long hair but for some reason, I guess it is because of my hair type, anythign longer looks like I got a mop on my head. On top of that its such a pain to take care of.
