I like twistouts on my hair because this pattern blends well with my new growth when I'm 5 or more weeks post relaxer. After I dc/poo/add leave-ins, I do 12 single twists on wet hair. Then I roll the ends on small rollers 2/covers.

ETA: I airdry overnite and undo twists in the morning.

I get the prettiest waves from two big french braids done on damp hair. I didn't vote... but that's what I do :)

For twistouts, I just do flat twists going back, on 50% dry hair. I haven't mastered doing them on wet hair yet.

I do my braidouts on completely dry hair, but I'm still not happy with the results.

I'm just really nervous about manipulating my hair that much when it's wet.

Lately I have been doing conrows wet and then sit under the dryer. I run a dab of botanoil and either heat protector or lottabody creme through my hair. I have to spritz each section w/ H20 because my hair dries fast (it's the roots that take forever). I put some mango butter on my ends and wrap around a flexirod. Then I park my tush under my 512 for 35-40 minutes and go about my business. I don't take them out untill the next day.

HELP!:ohwell:

My question is: how do you all maintain your braidouts? I seem to only be able to go 2 days before they droop or get too frizzy and make me look electrocuted. I rebraid them every night but even with that after day 2-3 I need to do it again. I usually take them out to co-wash that day anyway but sometimes i feel like I have to do it on this day because if not I will look like a H.A.M. I am already making the clear folks @ work wonder what am I doing with my hair, no need for them to ask more ??

After 2 days max, I'm doing it all over again... so I am in the same boat.

I used to like doing single braids, twists for my braidout/twistouts styles. I've been doing cornrows going straight back and flat twists and I like the results better. I really like how defined my twistout style was, especially in the front. The back was a little poofy. Next time I will do single twists in the back and flat twists in the front to camoflauge the parts.

I re-spritz at night and twist again. Even with that my twist outs only last three days at most before I have to wash my hair again.

I actually do rather small braids and leave them in for a day or two and then remove them. When they are smaller it makes my curl pattern stretch out and it looks a lot more like curls than braids and is really well defined.

I have tried all four ways :drunk: Twists give me coils, braids give me waves...

In order of what I like best: flat twists, cornrows, individual twists, box braids.

I always do them on air dried hair, and I dampen my hair with moisturizer. I usually take my time and oil/massage my scalp and watch tv when I do them. The slower do them, the neater/more defined the final result.

I love doing braid/twist outs cuz the style literally cannot get old! It is sooo low-mani. It will last between washes. When they do look "old" I comb it out, and it makes my hair fuller and fluffy-like. Then I usually put on a banana clip and claw clip and it will last a couple more days. Last resort hair style: I take piece of hair/section at a time and pin it up with bobby pins for a cute and classy up-do.

my hair responds better to twists... braids are just too much I *always* lose more hair braiding than I do twisting so I do single twists, when my hair get longer I'll probably do cornrow twists.. plus i like my results more when I twist..

I do cornrows for braidouts it comes out way better than individuals and my hair is more stretched and I do flattwist for a quick twist out, I just do this method because its quicker..

I braid 4 single braids. My braid outs come out fluffier and more similar to my natural texture, so I like them better than twistouts.

I use this method also. Just 4, sometimes 6, braids. I like this better than doing a bunch of tiny braids.

I forgot to say I do them on dry hair and put a little oil or conditioner on them when they're done.
:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:Your siggy had me in a daze. I was wondering "this girl is pretty...maybe...umm???" I couldn't put my finger on it, then I got it. They're child on her 21st birthday.

I do 5-6 boxed braids on semi wet hair. I use moisturizer and oil to seal ends...I curl the ends with bobby pins.

I twist my hair then set it on perm rods. That way it is wavy and curly!

This is how I used to do it too. But lately, I can't even wear my twist/braid outs anymore, since I have about 8 inches of thick new growth right next to my thin, see-through relaxed ends. I think once I BC in September, I'll go back to the twist outs.

Your shine is amazing! I need to know something stat!:yep:

For my hair, I like flat twists going straight back. I usually do about 6 of them. For me, it gets closer to the root than when I do 2 strand twist outs. Its also a little faster for me to do it this way. I make sure my hair is completely dry before I take them out or use a blow drier to make sure they are dry, otherwise they frizz. When I have my hair straight, I like to do braid outs with about 6 cornrows going back. Same idea, gets closer to the root so it looks more uniform.

when i used to do them, i did small single twists or braids. if i wanted them to have a little more hold, i used aloe vera gel on them. i don't do TOs any more but i do BOs on blown-out hair occasionally (but with bigger braids).

I do single 4 braids or when it is time to relaxer I do just 2 big braids. I have actually found out recently that 2 braids wroks really well and it is less combing.
