Congratulations on the progress you've made in the past year! And don't worry if your hair doesn't grow as quickly as someone else's. It's a journey, not a race. Just enjoy your healthy, beautiful hair. I happen to be one of those people who's hair grows at a snail's pace, despite vitamins, regular workouts, healthy eating, etc. I'm at my brastrap length goal, but it took me a while to get there. I started with mid neck length, breaking hair. Now all I hear is how long and healthy my hair is. My girlfriend asked last night if I had long hair previously. (As you know, many of us think that you can only grow your hair long if you've had long hair before.) I had to tell her that my hair had never been that long in my life. Keep up the good work and you'll reach your goals.

Ok, I'm putting that in my signature!

September is my 1 year anniversary and I'm still chasing APL. So I'm not happy with my length progress, but I love my healthy progress.

I went from chin to two inches above BSL in 1 year.

Vitamins and topical growth aids worked for me.

i was very happy at my one year mark. at the end of this year, i'll be at my two year mark; i'm shooting for brastrap length. right now i'm at armpit length (FINALLY! lol) praise the lord!

these are some things that have helped me:

wash/con/deep con twice weekly
dr.miracle's temple/nape growth balm
vitamins
water
excercising
no trimming

by the way, i love this thread! :D

I started on LHCF and the hair care thing in Jul of 2005. I have seen so much progress in the overall health of my hair compared to this time last year. It is longer, thicker and stronger. My ends are a lot better too and my hair doesn't feel like sand paper any more. I am very pleased with my progress and I am so glad to have found this site. I can't wait to see the progress I make up to Jul of 07. ;)

This August made my two year anniversary...and I have made extreme progress in the health of my hair....

year one: was all about experimenting, and endulging in all these different products mentioned on the board...i did everything to the tee and my hair changed drastically in that time period

year two: i still was experimenting but at the same time I had sort of narrowed my product choice down. A major set back were my highlights earlier this year...:( i still get sad thinking about it; I believe I could be close to BSL now if I hadnt done it. My hair hasnt grown as much, but it has certainly regained it health from the highlights.

Year three: I hope to be a good year....i know what works for my hair, and what doesnt...now its all about achieving my hair goals :)

I haven't reached my 1 year mark yet, I have about 6 more months to go. I'm so anxious to see where i'll be.

Me too:)

I will be looking out for your growth in Jan.

Wow, thank you ladies for all your responses... and for resurrecting my thread:) I love reading about everyone's journeys-- it's so inspiring and comforting to know that you're sourrounded by such supportive people. I can't even begin to say how many HAIR haters there are out there. Its such a sensitive issue, people not wanting to share advice, wanting to see you fail, giving you compliments, yet there's negativity in the air. I'm so glad there's none of that here.

Congrats to all of you!!!

My 1 yr just passed, and I was ecstatic, for once since I was little, i finally had hair I wasnt ashamed of rocking. You cant pay me to wear braids or weaves!! I'm excited bout my 2nd yr anniv, I know by then I'll be past APL, and very close to BSL, I'll be floating!!! :D

Wonderful thread :D .
My 1yr. mark was exciting for me and my daughter. The health of my hair and length seem to have come in together, but for my daughter if was the total opposite, her health came first whith mad thickness (which she's always had but not this thick, it's like super thick now  ) and her length just started showwing this month. All along we were only about a half inch. apart but her thickness took over.
I have learned that consistency is the main factor of my journey and listening to my hair (alot of times the signs are there either to moisturize/give it strength/time to trim or dust those ends, etc.). I know Shampooing and DCing 2x's a wk., stretching relaxers, and trimming 1/4 of an inch. every relaxers to keep split ends away or rid what maybe there have been very helpful w/my overall health of our hair. I hope this next yr bring us all even better results. :D

My 1yr anni just pasted this July...I have not been as satisfied as I would like w/ my progress. I think the saying a "watched pot never boils" so it could be my lack of patience to notice the progress. I have passed on the tips to my daughter and her hair has improved 100%.

Thanks, Great thread!

This is exactly what happened to me, seemed like i spent so much money trying everything under the sun, until i realized that what works for some might not work for me... but overall just the fact that i was giving my hair any kind of TLC at all worked for me. Now I'm at the point where i can resist the urges to try something new, i've made a vow to finish all the 3/4 bottles i own, even if i have to spice them up a bit to get some slip or raise it up to standard. THen and only then will i go out and try something  I like to think of it as PJ boot camp --or The PJ diet:lachen: I crack me up.

Seriously, i'm glad i've learned what works for me. I realize now that i haven't following my regime as strictly as i used to-- maybe i've decided to let the hair do its own thing, with a little guidance ofcourse-- I have learned that a watched pot never boils.:look: But i do need to step it up a bit, seeing this thread again gives me the push to get back on the wagon.

My one year mark will be in September. I'm very pleased with the progress I've gotten thus far. I went from top of ear length to shoulder length. Thats a blessing far as I'm concerned.

I really don't care how fast my hair grows, I do care about its health which is my focus. My hair strands have also thickened considerably. I THOUGHT I had very fine hair but I found out that really wasn't the case.

Its not one thing that I did to make that happen but because the overall care of my hair changed, my hair changed with it.

I can't say enough about this site and what its done for me (my mother hears it quite often..she's loving it)

When I started LHCF, I had dry, brittle natural hair that had completely broken off in the back- so bad that there was no hair to grab to braid up to my ears. I realized that NOT taking care of my hair was a part of a larger problem of ME not caring of myself in general. :perplexed

Now, ONE year later:

My natural hair is healthy, moisturized, and is grazing my shoulders all the way around. The back has completely grown back in and is thriving! :D

I now take time for ME and realize that pampering my hair is a part of my whole package for healthy living.

Thanks LHCF!
