i know this is contrary to some of the length charts i've seen. but for me CBL is between SL&APL.
i consider myself CBL and i'm about... 1.5" from APL i think :/
I always thought CBL was pretty much in between SL & APL.
@Nonie... hmmm... well, i'm past that length in the back and at my chin in the front.
don't tell me that's still SL!! goddammit! i've seen many intimate that CBL is below SL so i've adopted that. i consider top of shoulders full NL...
i know everyone's different. but around what length would you say CBL would be *on average* ?
Not if you look at a human anatomy, or do a search for what shoulder length hair is. For the rest of the world, shoulder-length is when your hair sits on your shoulders. Your shoulders don't just mean the part touching your neck but the entire surface which ends at the point your arms are attached. So as long as your hair is only reaching there, it's at SL. But since CBL is the lowest point of the shoulders, then CBL is somewhat the threshold after which you can claim to be between SL and APL. Until you get to CBL, you're still at SL.
I think the skeletal images below help you see this more clearly:

I claimed SL when my hair in the back that wasn't at the very nape touched my shoulders.
I didn't claim CBL until my hair, from the sides and back, went on and below the middle of my collar bones.
It's rly just SL but it's still a mile stone.
Technically BSL shouldn't even be a length since everyone's bra strap is put on differently, but Who's to stop one girl from claiming it? Not me.
Oh that's good. Yea, I use the term BSB too. I feel like using anatomy as opposed to clothes is a better way to define length.@DanceOnTheSkylines, I don't think many people use BSL anymore. If you look at the two diagrams I posted, Below Shoulder Bone is the next stop after APL. Sticking to body parts makes keeping track of progress more accurate.
nakialovesshoes, yes CBL is the final point of SL. Once you pass CBL you can then claim to be between SL and APL. From the point where you leave NL until CBL, you are at SL. CBL is a major achievement and deserves recognition because it is the one point at which even the world outside of LHCF cannot deny your SL status. It also helps us on LHCF recognize that you are now on your way to APL and are moving away from that ever so long stay at SL.
@DanceOnTheSkylines, I don't think many people use BSL anymore. If you look at the two diagrams I posted, Below Shoulder Bone [<--Huh?I meant "Blade". I still blame the cold and wet weather we are having for my crazy brain today] is. the next stop after APL. Sticking to body parts makes keeping track of progress more accurate.
@Nonie Now that I think about it, this chart is the best. I think that we should do away with BSL. That way folks can stop pushing their bras up high just to claim BSL.![]()
@nakialovesshoes, I always like it when someone makes that point so I can pull out my visual of why BSL isn't such a good marker.![]()

On my body, my collar bone is below my shoulder. My hair rested on my shoulder first, then reached down to my collar bone in the front.
@LaidBak, it depends on what part of your collarbone you're looking at. In the image below, the white line represents your collarbone. The red line the lowest point of your shoulder. You can see that the red line crosses the collarbone where you may pull down your nape hair to reach CBL when you turn your head to the side. So if you can pull that little lock of hair showing on the left down to where the lines cross, then you can claim CBL or full SL, IMO.
I can take down the pic if you want me to, but wanted to give you a visual. Let me know.
Wow...really? I have a more keep-it-simple type definition.
When I pulled a piece of hair down (on the side) it sat on my shoulder first. Sat on my shoulder as in touched my skin while hanging; as in started to get caught in my purse strap; as in gave me the willies because I thought something was crawling on me. I'm not an 'imaginary line drawn from the arbitrary bottom of the shoulder' type Gal. I'm an 'actual physical landmark' using kinda Gal.
6 weeks later that same piece of hair reached my collar bone. Meaning when I flexed my shoulders forward and my collar bone popped out my hair was sitting on it.
Also including a picture for the visual. So on MY body, CBL is lower than SL.
ETA: the picture you used was actually a self portrait. Though you can't tell, my arm is outstretched and taking the picture. In the one I attached I used the timer, so my arms are both hanging straight down.
