Of course I don't think you would ask questions in a demanding, interview type way but you can ask in a way that seems like "I'm interested in you but I need to know more."

I asked a lot of the questions to my current SO over 8 months of dating. And I researched some on my own. I think it's important to really know who you are getting involved with.
