I think I answered 3c/4a before, But I've come to realise that I'm 3b/3c. My mom kept telling me this but I've had a perm for so long I didn't remember.
I want you to know that I tweezed three strands of my hair (front hairline, crown, and back hairline) out of the folicles for this poll. My hair is distinctly different in those three areas. I even washed the strands to get the product out so that I could check it in it's natural state. (Okay, I'm a nerd!) I had to go back and read the hair type descriptions near the LHCF home page again. And I think might need to change my type in my siggy.
I have type 4a around my hairline and the rest of my hair is 3c. I thought that mixture of hair types was weird for me until I saw the poll results. I am not alone.
So it IS safe to say that most people have 3c-4b hai ron this board? Just had to run in here and look. Someone was getting bent out of shape because another person implied that most black people have 3c-4b hair.
This hair typing thing introduces so much confusion.
My hair is all over the place...with so many telling me it's one thing, and other saying it's another, so I've come up with my own hair typing system...
I'm mostly 3b. I think that I'm 3c in the crown area, but it's changing to 3b.
3b/c,O,S,M,i
---------------
O- strand is rolled up into the shape of one or several zeros like a spiral
S - strand looks like a wavy line with hills and valleys
M- medium(strands are neither fine nor coarse)
i- thin(less than 2 inches/5 centimeters when in a ponytail)
Mine is all over the place. There is some 2 something mixed with some 3a and b. As of late people have been asking how I get some perfectly straight chunks mixed in with my curls. I have no idea what I am now.
I consider myself a 4a, with some 3c parts.. but i voted for 4a only. I follow a similar line of advice offered by the 4a/b hair ladies as opposed to someone with a looser texture.
3c/4a with a couple of strands of 2 here and there it's very weird when I wash my hair and let it airdry that's when I can see the different textures.....freaky! As long as I get to BSL and beyond without split ends (thanks to the baggie method) I don't care what my hair is.
