That link really helped!
I have 3a in the back, 3b in the front, and 3c in the crown. (I know that sounds like a lot going on, but it's true) I think I have combination hair like I have combination skin.

I thought 3b but I've been told 3c so I'm still confused.
Don't be confused - you might be a combo of the two like I am.

Hair typing has turned into something very insignificant and of very little value. You have people placing theirselves in categories where they know they don't belong and people who are typing who don't even know the ins and outs of each type.

It's now a joke IMHO.

I have combination hair, but most 3c/4a, even when I was natural.

However, many different textures, in particular:

Front/hairline: 3b/3c
Sides: 3b (striving for thicker, denser, more course)
Crown: 3c/4a
Back: 4a
Nape: 3c/4a

LMAO @ where they know they don't belong:lol:
I'm a 4a/4b

I place myself into the category of being type 4a. My texture slightly changes when I switch relaxers.

I'm not really sure of my exact hair type, but I guess a 3c/4a. My hair is literally "kinky-curly". I guess that describes it enough, rather than giving a number.

Im a 3c on top/ crown..i think its getting looser and looser..hmm and def a 4a on the base..they blend well together.. yeah for being natural!!!lol

i dunno
seems like a couple different types [3b-3c-4a]
but i have to examine more

OMG :lachen: :lachen: this is hilarious and probably true...even though I'm not sure what the benefit would be

I don't even "advertise" a type cuz it doesn't seem cut n dry...seems like too many variables.

3c nape, small patch of 4b in the very center of my head, and 4a errwhere else:spinning::yep:

I agree...it seems like some folks just pick the type they WANT to be and claim that, cause it's not what you see when you look at it.

To answer the question...type kinky curly checking in.

I didn't realize 4b was so rare. I was expecting to see more.

I'm a 4, but I still don't quite know the difference between 4a, 4b, and Cnapp.

I'm still getting used to this. But you know in the naked hair thread, there didn't seem to be a whole lot. I think it's in part also because of the strangeness of the typing system. Since 4b had that description as "z-strand". There are some people whose hair looks type 4 but their strands don't curl around, more like almost all bends and turns. Your hair (I've seen your WnG) and mine too has strands that have curls (they just don't do much clumping), and maybe because of that people may be less inclined to choose the "4b" category and instead choose 4a or 4a/b. In fact, a single strand of my hair has O's / curls and kinks / Z's /zigzags. But saying I'm any part 4a feels really . . . wrong to me.

The hairtyping thing had me lost and confused for a good year. In my opinion my hair fits the written description of a 4a, but it looks like pictures of a 4b.:yep: I just decided to go with the pictures. Oh well

Personally, I just don't believe hair typing system covers all hair types... It may be less of what people want to be and more of what they seem closest to.
