I thought it would be fun for us to maybe post pics of our hair at its worst point, before we figured out how to take care of it. This is me in high school. Horrendous huh? I had so much damage cause I would curl the ends every single day trying to look cute. TG those days are over.

Hope i did this pic thing right. Alright who else?

I don't have any pictures, but I can tell you what my hair looked like. Number one, at the beginning of high school my hair was barely shoulder length, and it was thin! I think it was because my mom has thin hair also. I tried to take care of it as best as I could, and for a LONG time, I wraped my hair to one side, and it wasn't until my freshman year of college that I found out that you weren't suppose to do that because your hair would thin out on one side. But now, my hair is bra-strap length, and it is much thicker than it use to be, and lo and behold, that right side grew back in!

OK glossy, why does you "damaged" hair look just like my "i'm so happy" hair? lol. Girl, be happy you skipped over the to'up phase cause I was in it for a while.

Well this is one of my senior pictures. The pic as a whole isn't bad, but all I'm gonna say is that I didn't have layers cut in my hair, nor is my hair naturally light brown...

look at those ends...go ahead and get up close and look. Not cute

At least I didn't normally wear my hair out so nobody knew...

mine was longer, but full of split ends. i have pics but no scanner. if i go to the library soon,i'll post them.

black cardinal, how did you put the pic directly into the post/ Thats what i as trying to do but failed miserably.

I think you put spaces between the tags and the url. The tags need to be right next to the url, no spaces. So delete the space between the "]" and the "h" of http, and also delete the space between "g" of jpg and the last "["
See if that helps

You gals are all adorable -- damaged hair or not!

My "old abused hair" can be found here: http://nayshair.topcities.com/BEFOREANDAFTER.htm.

What's weird is back then I didn't realize that my hair was damaged. Sure, the very underside of it never grew more than about five inches, and overall it stayed the same length for decades, but I thought that was normal

What a difference KNOWLEDGE can make!!

Abainaa,
Your hair grew soo much! How long did that take? Your hair is gorgeous!

Thanks honey!
That pic was taken when I was about 13, and I am now 22. At 18 though, I had a Big Chop after a bad experience with braids and went back to chin length.

But i've been doing pretty well ever since

Here is mine. I was 19 years old, complete with the curling iron burn. This was before I found hair boards in 1999.

My hair was cut in a pixie but it was still such a thin over processed mess. This was junior year of college. I did this photo for a photo project.

I found the hair boards senior year of college.

What my hair used to look like is pic number one in my album. Just past shoulder length, sometimes the ends seemed damaged and sometimes they didnt. But it always seemed dry. Of course that was because back then, I thought water was my hair's enemy. But I think in that particular pic, I was trying to get back into the whole hair care thing, I just didnt know as much as I do now.

I just started taking care of my hair, so all of your pics are very inspiring. I got my hair cut a week ago a the difference is amazing my hair has so much more body and life. If you want to see damaged hair just look at my pics in my before pics.

Thanks for the compliment, SweetNic. I think you are one gorgeous lady yo' self. You've got that "model" look going big time, even when you are not trying

Hey, Brittanynic16, your photo didn't show up. By the way, it's nice seeing you on the boards again

Your hair looks soooo much healthier with the cut msincognito - thick and shiny. I know it was hard to lose the length but with what you're learning here you'll be back to shoulder length in no time.

I agree! Your hair looks lovely with your new cut. I also liked your bantu knot photo :-)

This is what my hair used to look like. It was taken in April, 2003.
I don't feel like my hair has grown much, but when I look at this photo I can see a big difference.
