Girl, that hairstyle is on point!
...but let me tell you why she didn't like it:
Apparently it is considered faux pas for some "folks" to show their scalp. I remember dealing with this mindset in junior high school. The young ladies would style their hair on top of their heads with those metallic clip barrettes, and they would have always get "checked" by a counterpart if they were "too scalp-y".
...I guess my cornrows were just inconceivable.
Sis, you rocked that style...Do your thing!
After hearing this, reading the OP, and listening to one of my white friends, I've decided to make the surely inaccurate and completely naive over-generalization that the average white person does not like cornrows.
OP, I had a white woman say that same thing to me once for some finger coils. How rude! I think that style of yours is really cute. I'm totally impressed that you did it yourself.

After reading all of this I was preparing myself for some horribly unbecoming hairstyle. However, this style looks beautiful! I love it the front and the back and you have a gorgeous head of hair. Re: the yt co-worker - What ever happened to: If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all?
"I like it the other way better" - Who appointed her the hair czar? Folk is crazy...
My point exactly!! I was mad because she made it seem like I had a spiky Mohawk or something, that's why I was confused. Thank you for your compliment

So today I wore a new hairstyle to work and I guess it was a little to different because my white co-worker comes up to me looking all upside my head talking about "What did you do to your hair!?" and I'm just like "um stuff" she says "I like it the other way better, with all the curls and stuff" I'm just thinking to myself wow how rude to say that, but ok.
The only compliments I got were from two black guys. *shrugs shoulders*
One guy said " I like your hair." and my friend was like " Oh that's tight man, you did that?" It was different to hear the totally opposite comments.
I liked it because it was different, but people have their own opinions I just wished they wouldn't be so rude when expressing them.

Yep, there you have it. She was jelly.
I rarely use the term haters but in this case I'm going to have to go with that. How you gonna want me to braid your hair, insult me, then remind me that you want me to braid your hair? Weird! Mad cuz no matter what her hair will NOT look anything like yours. She's got a lot of nerve though.

Sometimes you have to consider the source.. There is this white guy at my job that has asked me two days in a row wht have I done to my hair. Each time I ask him why..He just shrugs his shoulders and walks off.
Mind you EVERYBODY else has told me that it looks cute. I took my micros out and I am rocking a braid out until my BC.. He is the only one that has a prob, but I consider the source because he has something negative to say about everybody so I just ignore him..And u should do the same to your co-worker.
