What advice on LHCF has really improved your hair

Re: What advice on LHCF has really improved your h

What I have learned from LHCF...
-Protective styles, I used to wear my hair down ALL the time.
-MSM and Biotin
-No direct heat!! I would blowdry and curl my hair once a week, now I don't and the difference is amazing.
-Stretching out relaxers to 2,3 or 4 months. This is a challenge for me but I am learning. Before extending my relaxers I never really got to see my natural hair texture which is kind of crazy.
-And most of all INSPIRATION!! It is so good to see all of the ladies who are growing their hair past their shoulders. Society has told us for so long that we could not do it relaxed or natural.

Re: What advice on LHCF has really improved your h

Everything. Before LHCF my hair was all jacked up in the worst way. too many weaves not enough shampooing, no conditioning at all, moisturizing unheard off. THANK GOD FOR LHCF.COM

#1 Conditioning my hair- before knowing this I heardly ever did ny hair at home (went to a salon ever 2 weeks)because it always came out hard, dry, and tangled. I thought I had the worst hair when all I really needed was some conditioning I will always be grateful to LHCF for this

Protein treatment- they keep my hair nice and strong.
Washing more often- god knows i needed this!
Less heat- I now try to use heat only with relaxers and special occassions, other then that I air-dry

and keep my hair moisturized especially the ends.

Re: relaxin 2-3mths

The advice that has really helped me was keeping the ends moisturized. Before, I never thought about moisturizing my ends on a daily basis, and my hair growth was stunted. Moisturizing really helps to retain length.

Re: relaxin 2-3mths

Conditioner washes, Vaseline on the ends, adding oil to conditioners, diluting shampoo with water, shower filter, Dominican conditioners and investing in a humdifier to counter the drying effects of central heating and air.

Re: relaxin 2-3mths

1.major difference: distilled water
2.detangling and combing in the shower
3.dusting split ends myself instead of going to a stylist for trimming
4.getting mild relaxers
5. Products and ingredients

all in all more TLC f my hair and "refinement" of my methods
thank you all so much!

Re: What advice on LHCF has really improved your h

1. That I CAN do my own relaxers, keep the curl AND get straight styles
2. Braidouts in the summer with loads of conditioner, aloe and olive oil to retain moisture
3. Vaseline on the ends (THANK YOU ADRIENNE!!!)
4. Dusting the ends
5. 5 mg of Biotin (boosted hair growth so I didn't give up too soon on all this stuff)
6. (Slightly related) the Acne Cure Board on the Skin Care Section
7. All the inspiriational and sweet people on this board that kept my Product Junkie-ism at bay with all this good advice.

Re: relaxin 2-3mths

* moisterizing my ends with Vaseline

* stretching out relaxers

* how to properly deep condition

* minimum heat use

Re: relaxin 2-3mths

Not relying on a professional stylist to care for my hair. only after finding this board did I become knowledgable and confident enough to take matters into my own hands. I haven't been to a salon in at least 6 months and my hair has never looked healthier.

The Baggie Method

The most important thing that I've learned on LHCF is to be proactive about my hair health. I had a lot of the right ideas, but LHCF has helped me to put them into action.

primary

* keep ends moist
* vitamins/supplements
* no heat

secondary
* leave in conditioners
* ok to wash 2x or 3x per week if my hair needs it

Re: What advice on LHCF has really improved your h

the best advice I receieved was not to be afraid to try new products

Re: What advice on LHCF has really improved your h

-I've been stretching my relaxers for a while (because I was too broke to get my hair done often) but I learned how to care for my new growth so I experience less breakage.
-MSM and biotin.
-protective styles
