Ultra Hair Thick Shake

Jade - if your'e still out there....

Whaddya think about all this soy and cancer stuff? Something to worry about in your opinion? Or no...? (Ngaa -thanks for reminding me - I saw this in another thread as well!)

Just curious since you're pretty knowledgeable.

Hotchoc...I was just joking, love.
smile.gif
But I will post those ingredients as soon as I get home.

i'm loving this thread.. I've been following it like crazy.. I'm a milk shake freak anyway, so if i can double the benfits (pleasure and hair growth) i'll be more than

Hi, Tracy!

I will give you a longer version in a PM if you like, but, for myself, I have to say that I do limit the amount of soy from all sources which I ingest. It is not on my "hot list" by any means

Much, much love,

Jade

Jade would you mind making some of this info public for some of the other soy users on the board including myself. I drink a lot more soy milk especially as my body can't seem to handle cow's milk anymore, and would be grateful for any dangers that there might be pertaining to soy based products.

Ariiighhhtt.....

Fructose, non-GMO isolated soy protein (the "non-GMO" stands for "non-genetically modified" -- maybe this is what's causing the FREAKING cancer?!?!?!?! Why would someone modify the genes of SOY!!!! It's SOY! LEAVE IT ALONE FOR CRIPES SAKE!

Thanks, Trace for posting. Those of you who are using the shake are you experiencing diarrhea. I ask this because 2 of the ingredients MALTODEXTRIN and PSYLLIUM can act as a laxative. Now, I really want me some long hair, but I don't think anyone will see it if I'm running to sitting on the toilet all the time

No, I haven't experienced any diarrhea.

I don't have the runs either.

Beana - 16 sounds right and may even be a dollar or two cheaper than I paid.

Okay - so after three days, I'm not feeling ill at all. A little full when I'm done drinking the shake....But I've got like a mental issue now that I've read the blasted ingredients.
nono.gif

The IDEA of drinking safflower oil grosses me out. :cries: I was fine before I read the ingedients. The first two times I drank it was fine. Last night after posting ingredients I was having a lot of trouble choking it down. And it's mental. It doesn't taste any different, I don't feel physically different. I'm just tweaked because drinking oil is, like, NUTS to me.

Can someone tell me (make something up, help a sistah out) why DRINKING OIL is not an absolutely pukish thing to do? I mean, why is OIL so high up on the ingredient list....

Oy! Someone help.. I really wanted to give this a shot.

Oh and thanks for the laxative heads up Hotchoc - that makes it even more appealing. Yum! :sigh:

i have been enabled by this thread to commit another PJ crime... yes i just purchased this once Tracy confirmed the price.... no restraint at all
The sad thing is, if i experience increased hair growth that is just a plus to a great tasting vanilla shake
nuts.gif

Bean - you may need to add a little honey. "Sweet" was all I was missing with this one......

It's got the "milk" and the "shake" but it doesn't come together as a real milkshake without that "sweet"....just FYI.

So NOONE's gonna make me feel better drinking OIL then, I suppoose! Well - thank you much! Hmph!
wink.gif

thanks for the heads up!
Oh and about the oil... a lot of shakes contain oils.. specifically Nutrament, Ensure, boost, and i believe Slim fast does too. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you dont taste it! (I tasted it badly in Ensure.. yuck)

Tracy,
This probably won't help much, but I'll throw it out there anyway..... Perhaps safflower oil is one of those good oils like Olive or Flaxseed that actually help with heart health and keeping cholesterol levels at bay. Maybe there's some health benefit with safflower....just a thought!

Jen

Well Beana...I checked my Slim Fast and it indeed contains oil - quite high up on the ingredient list. (Canola to be exact). So thank you my love. You've saved the project!

JenJen - I imagine it must have SOME beenfit to be so high up on the list AND in a hair shake. And I know safflower is one of those touted to have good amounts of all of the "oleic" stuff that seems to be good for the hair and skin. I don't know what the official hair goddess term is - but it's all up in flax and borage and EP oil and that stuff that some of us here take in supp form. So if that's so - you've saved the project too! Hooray!

So I feel a little better. Especially since I drink SF all the time and it's always had the oil I would imagine. Okay then. I think I'm alright....
laugh.gif

Not so pukish. Will recover.

Oh, about the oils in supplement drinks, it's a good way to get the benefits of oils you would otherwise not be pouring down your throat on any other circumstance.

Canola oil makes up a large portion of the butter that is put on Movie Theater popcorn. Some people, like myself, don't digest it well in large quantities.

Also, for those who have been getting ill drinking the hair shake, your system may not like soy in general. I'm lactose-intolerant so it's good for me, but my fiance, mother and sister will get sick after drinking less than half a glass of it.

hmmmm i would love to have a shake you can have for hair growth and for a meal as well which doesnt cause you to bulk up. i guess that is asking for too much. if i drink a shake especially a thick one i cant see myself eating a meal. i have seen this shake in health food stores but i was like is this a gimmick? i may have to check this out. plus in the summer shakes and smoothies are so much nicer than cooking.

God bless you all.

Okay - I've been drinking this stuff for a week. After adding honey and vanilla and nutmeg and cinnamon
lick.gif
I am keeping it in my regime.

That sounds

I just might try that. Last night I made the mistake of adding a lil bit of powdered msm, neva again

Hey Tracy,
Is this the stuff???
nt-1775.gif

They have it on vitaminshoppe.com for $13.88. I'd like to try it...you convinced me when you started talking about mixing cinnamon and nutmeg and stuff in it.
lick.gif
I'm lactose intolerant, but I guess I can probably use soy milk or rice milk instead?

oh you have to mix it with milk? i'm so slow i was thinking this was a add water or beverage of choice type drinks. hmmm now i visually know what it looks like even though my memory of what i thought it looked like was off. and 14 dollars isnt bad. hmmm i need to go to vitamin shoppe anyways to get some b5.
scratchchin.gif
God bless you all.

Yes it is a milk-mix type shake. I've been using for two days now.. and i love the faint vanilla taste!!!! I think i will continue to buy this as my primary supplement, IF its not what is causing me this darn cold (well i think its extending it
smirk.gif
)
The weather in NYC has been sooo crappy and unpredictable lately. i'm coming down with a pretty bad cold and I'm wondering if drinking this shake (beacuse of the milk) is helping the bacteria stay inside my body????

oooo good question. i plan to buy this and b5 at the vitaminshoppe this week but i wont purchase if it will make me gain weight.
naughty.gif
God bless you all.

Beans!
grin.gif
- All I can think of that the shake might be contritbuting to the cold is if you are mixing it with milk. Milk manufactures mucus in the body (or that's what my Mom always said
grin.gif
) and so it might be making you saty "phlemy". Maybe lay off for a week until you aren't as congested.

I like the stuff too. I haven't been sick yet - and yes guys - I've been able to LOSE 3 pounds in the last week and half (losing weight is really hard for me too so that's saying a lot)....
smile.gif
AO for those afraid of gaining - Azul, Mitcy...everyone's body chemistry is different, but it hasn't happened to me.
up.gif

JenJen - that's the very one....:) the powder itself is soy based - I see no reason why you can't mix it with soy milk. I think it even says you can mix it with juice - can anyone verify - I just moved and my container is packed still.....
frown.gif

Chipmunk - tha mix is yummy. You should try it. I look FORWARD to my shakes now. I'll miss them until I can unpack the canister and my blender.
frown.gif

okay.. I've been drinking this stuff for a little over a week and i must say that I'm very pleased with it!!!!

I would just have to say that after drinking it, it makes me feel kind of full. I mix mine with whole milk (maybe this is why i feel full) because i cant stand 1% or fat free
tongue.gif
uke: plus i'm trying to gain some weight and whole milk seems to be doing the trick.

The taste is very faint vanilla and i like it... I hope to see some really good results from this, I will look out for improved growth in about another month or so, but i already think its working!!!

I bought this and went to one vitaminshoppe that didnt have it and i went to another one and i got the last one. the lady said its really popular. i used soymilk and it tasted so good. i didnt have to add anything. i havent used it in the past couple of days because i have ate out and had leftovers but in june i will be adding this. i looked at the ingredients and then calculated what i would be getting with this and my pills and it seems good. i mean i prefer drinking my vitamins in a yummy shake then taking pill after pill. i wonder if there is a shake this good that is like a multivitamin.
lick.gif
God bless you all.
