Hi Jackie, sounds like we have the same hairtype:). I think I've finally gotten used to the two textures. I can't wait to be out of the twa stage. Good luck with the challenge.

Can I join this?

Current Routine:
Co-wash daily
deep condition weekly
shampoo one a week
clarify monthly
protein treatment monthly
protective style every other week
trim ends when needed

I think this is everything :D

I want in on this too! I just did the BC last week and I have about 3-4 inches of hair now, and I'm trying to grow it into a huge HEALTHY Fro!

Here's my starting length: http://public.fotki.com/BeautyintheDark

I don't have a regimen yet, because I'm wearing braids for the next 5 weeks (until my vacation is over) because I have no idea what to do with my hair. Any suggestions would be great!

update, I just cornrowed my hair so I can take a break from daily styling, & they stretch all the way to the end of my neck. Grow hair grow :yay:

Hey y'all!

I flew TWA (remember that airline?) in late August 2005. My last "straight" relaxer was done in late June, early July and I rocked braids/twists the entire summer. I recently had my au naturale hair slightly relaxed (like a texturizer) with Affirm (combed through quickly... 8-10 minutes tops) just to loosen the coils.

My daily routine includes:
AM: Wet hair with Surge Plus 14, apply Elasta QP Mango Butter and Surge Woojee Cream for moisture, seal ends with Wild Growth Oil... No combing - style with my hands.
Alternating PM: Shampoo with Elasta QP Conditioning Creme Shampoo, condition with "something" (Mizani Moisturefuse, Nexxus Therappe, Silicon Mix, Avanti 3-11... Whatever I can grab), Apply another dose of Surge Plus 14, Mango Butter, Woojee Creme, WGO, wrap with scarf.
COWash PMs: do the above PM routine, leaving out the shampoo.

I am also on a serious vitamin regimen... MSM, Biotin, Silica, Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin E, Acidophilus, Miracle 2000... I'm sure I'm missing some.

One thing I have learned from y'all that I slept for my entire grown-up life: Clarifying Shampoo! What a difference that makes! And doing a serious protein treatment every few weeks has also made a difference.

So, my next challenge is 5 inches stretched by my birthday (May 6)... and no relaxer touch-up until late March, early April.

I took a length shot last month & am creeping past SL stretched :yay: The top of my head grows the fastest, I gotta reverse mullet going on lol

hi ladies,

I am so sorry for taking so long to check in. Currently, I have braids and while I no longer cw daily I feel that my hair is thriving somehow. I no longer use shampoo b/c I felt it was too drying to my hair. Instead I wash weekly, usually on Sundays, with V05 kiwi & lime squeeze conditioner. Before putting it on my scalp I apply V05 sun kissed raspberry conditioner followed by the k&l squeeze co. Lately, I have been trying to follow the cg method while in braids....so far so good. While I have decreased my water intake and no longer take my vits I still feel that my hair is doing good in spite off. I plan on starting a self vit/water challenge next week and chart my progress but until then I am just trying to eat healthier and get lots of sleep. I hope that all is well with you ladies....until our next check in HHG!

be blessed sweeties,
tishee

I'm still hanging in there. I've had this weave in for 2 weeks and I'm so tired of it. I wanna take it out but I don't want to bc I'll feel like I wasted my money. I'm gonna try and stick it out for 2 more weeks. I have no clue what to do with my hair. I'm so over it now. :ohwell: I'm thinking about going and getting it pressed and cut into a style when I start my new job so it'll at least look like something and not just exist on top of my head. I'm still not used to this twa.

Hey Ladies,

How is everyone doing? My hair is growing, but I really can't decide what to do for the winter. I know I am going to miss my daily wash and go. I really hate protective styles, maybe I can get over it. I think I'll try to hide my hair with scarves and hats. So what is everyone else doing for the winter?

Guys, I've been cowashing daily and wearing a twa...and it's getting BIG! I'm pumped!:D It's becoming so unruly and it's to the point where it's in between lengths. I'm now trying to figure out what to do besides a twa because it's past that chic, neatly groomed look when it's worn out.

Part of me wants to cut it because I got so many compliments when it was short and curly. The other part of me wants to fully commit and pick out my fro, make it really big and rock it. My one problem? I have a patch where my hair broke off in the front, by my hairline. I think that's because I wear headbands everyday and it probably rubbed it off. I'm nursing it back with some daily massages and wild growth oil.

I'm thinking about straightening it tonight. When stretched, it's not shoulder length (grr) but I just want to see how far off I am. My hope is now shoulder length by January 1!!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I'm doing great, recently passed shoulder length when stretched & I guess I can't call this a TWA anymore lol

ladies wearing comb coils/2 strand twists do you mind posting what products you are using to style/hold them with for me please? I plan on taking my braids out next month are would love to wear either of the two styles.

thanks in advance ladies

Hi ladies! I'm still trying to grow out my hair. I had a bit of a setback a couple of months ago. I was wearing my hair out a lot, like every day and kept playing in it and there's this one spot that started growing in super coily and dry and before I knew it I had this really short spot in my head, why couldn't I just leave my hair alone! So anyway, I decided this past week to start keeping my hair in twists and wearing a wig over them. I've always hated wigs but I finally found a brand I love.

I love wearing twists but with the short spot it doesn't look so good. But even without the broken spot I thought my hair was a tad too short for the look and twists don't last long in my hair but take so much time to do. I am hoping that once my hair grows out the twists will last longer. My goal is to have shoulder length twists.

So far now I'm twisting and wigging. I moisturize nightly with water and S-curl and a little oil. And now when the twists start looking raggedy (which is in a matter of 2 or 3 days) it doesn't matter because they are covered up! I really hope this works.

way too go Blessed1.....awesome. Congrats

Thanks tishee! Oh & to answer ur question I use FOTE aloe vera gel when I do 2strand twists, works well & gives a nice shine

tishee, when I do twists I use Oyin's Shine and Define or Qhemet Biologic Honeybush Hair Tea.

I love both of those products as well, they are very moisturizing. Unfortunately my twists still don't last very long.

this happened to me too! I am so angry with myself b/c I had a feeling that it was going to happen but ignored it.

OMG! I can't believe this happened to you too tishee. I'm sorry you had the same problem. I felt so stupid for not leaving it alone. But I had to just cut myself some slack. I've been having setbacks with my hair since I was ten years old:(. Keeping it covered up helps a lot. Once it is long enough I will likely keep it in twists or braids 90% of the time, so long as I am natural.
