THE DH's and THE SO's! What do they really think?

My SO thinks I have completely lost my mind! I thought showing him fotki's and progress pics would make him understand my love for the board but instead he just stares at the computer screen with this vacant, blank, puzzled expression:dighole: He has gotten very used to seeing very little of my natural hair because it's usually twisted under a wig or covered in a shower cap while DC. Luckily he doesn't mind my protective styles around the house now that my twists no longer "make me look like I just walked out of A Color Purple" (his words lol). Since he has started to realize this isn't a phase he has become pretty supportive and even points out twist styles I show him in fotki's and wigs I see, although he still can't we have no problem posting those infamous bathroom shots in their bathroom in our bra lol! I keep trying to tell him this is our version of his fantasy football leagues(only we really see results:grin:). I realized this weekend we somehow missed our 7 year anniversary 2 weeks ago and his response was "Probably because you were doing your hair!".

I love that man. I have the ultimate supportive SO. Reminds me to protect my hair, to moisturize and want me to stretch my relaxers for longer. Told his co workers and family about my mixtures. He even asked me to whip up batches of stuff for his co workers with dandruff issues.

He calls you guys the Hair Firm or The Girls. He points out people who need hair help on the street. I call him my best girlfriend LOL. He knows how to put my relaxers with no overlapping and he is more gentle with my hair than I'm. I call him molases lol. He certainly does not mind my PJism, he sure funds it.

Yesterday I had a creamy crack attack. I went as far as buying a container of perm. I sat on his lap holding the relaxer disturbing his intense game on the Nintendo DS with a " Hunny can you help me relax?" He said " NO stretch some more, now go co wash." I hate him but I love him.

My BF compared my interest in LHCF to his obsession w/ fantasy football! Honestly I kinda gotta agree! :yep:

Overall though he's very supportive, with a cute joke here and there ("you look like a martian, my little martian!" when i'm under my Pibbs for instance")! Shoot he knows what's good for him if he wants to play nag-free fantasy football!! :lachen:

Too CUTE!!! That really made me laugh! Thx 4 sharing!!

He isn't my SO, just a friend but this is the conversation I had with him last night.

Me: I spent 4 hours at the salon today getting these extensions. It really hurts!

Him: It's not your hair? It's on your head.. you glued hairs together to make it longer?

Me: Ummmm.... so you get hair that is something like this. (shows him a tract) See the very top of the hair? Kinda looks like a thin rope? That part is sewed to my hair that is braided up. This is what it looks like, except it's braided around my head like a crown.

Him: I see. Sounds.. why would you do that to yourself!!
And how long does that stay or do you decide to take it off and have it taken off when you're tired of it?

Me: I'm doing it because I'm trying to grow my own hair back to that length. My hair is really healthy but my problem is that I can't keep my hands out of it! I damage and dry it out by constantly combing and brushing and touching it. I'm right handed and the hair on the right side of my hair is maybe a good 1/2-1" shorter than the left side.

It can stay in up to 4 months, but that's not recommended. I'll probably keep it in for a maximum of 8 weeks.

Him: I see. So your hair will grow back in those 8 weeks and then when you take it off you'll have your own hair that long? cool..

Me: Oh P*****... you're so ignorant. :lachen: No, my hair will probably grow one inch in those 8 weeks. :lachen: I have made December 2010 my date to reach mid back length hair.

Him: Oh, cool. Well, even if it's not yours, it looks good. :lick:

My fiance is my number one fan. He knows my goals and supports whatever I do with my hair. When was transitioning and pressed it during the summer he said, "Why don't you wet it and make it nappy again if you're going to keep it in that bun."

He did my BC for me and can't wait for it to be big and long. He compliments my hair and tells me I should never relax again because I put so much work into growing out the relaxer. He and his Dad had a laugh over my tea rinses because he thought I made it for him NOT my hair. lol.
