Super Grow Out Challenge **Update Month 2**

My hair is doing great. My hair has grown an inch after I put a relaxer in my hair. I didn't leave the relaxer long enough in my hair and this is my first time, but I think I did ok for it to look straighten a little. I am still keeping up with my weekly regimen. I did forget to condition wash this week and last week. (lazy) I finally did an aphogee treatment for the first time and this has done wonders to my hair. I am so glad I finally did this treatment because I have less hair coming out when I comb it and it feels stronger and thick.

Thanks to the Forum.

Yay!! Waist length here you come!! The rest of your hair will catch up in due time!! HHG

Hey everyone...:( I discovered I'm not technically waistlength yet. My longest length is still considered "bra strap" according to a hair chart I viewed online. My longest length stops at the line formed by my fatrolls... Which would also be like a inch above my belly button if my hair was all one length. Sheesh! Ah well...:look: I have until December.

LAYERS SUCK!!!! :wallbash:

Things are progressing as usual for me. I'm still 100% heat free (over 3 months now!) and I'm still stretching my relaxer (I'm at 15 weeks post).

I plan to relax at the end of March, and I might take a break from the buns when I relax. I'll post pictures when I relax, too. :)

I took out my braids a few days ago; I think I gained about 1 inch of newgrowth since I joined the challenge. I have a long way to go but I know I can do it.

Hi, its me again checking in for this month, my hair is doing fine I think, I get it blown out every week so I really do not see the difference until I do some comparison pictures which I will not do until May. I think my hair is growing though, but I have not measured it. Um, I have pictures in my album that I recently put up last week, I will post another pic for the month or March though.

Check out my profile, you will see the link to my album, and my password is dimples.

Girl, why you have to get all technical. They should have a midback picture on that website. It's a long way from brastrap to waist for some folks. It sounds like your hair is waistlength to me!!;)

I am glad to hear that you found a remedy for the dryness. Are you happy with the trim?? I am sure the trim looks great!
I had to go back to an old staple that I thought wasn't working. Twice a day I have to mist my hair with distilled water and then apply oil all over. (Currently using a mix of jojoba, olive, coconut, castor, grapeseed and three drops rosemary oil). I'm still learning not to be heavy handed.

Also, when I wear it down, I have to keep my hand out of it or it dries my hair out. The trim is ok, but I'm trying not to get scissor happy.

I took my braid out today and flat iron my hair I gain a inch and a half and I am very please with my progress.
Viviscal must be kicking in because I have new growth those areas that never get that much newgrowth.
I will try the new Surge formula this month and see if I get better results.
Viviscal,Castor oil and Surge combo is working so I will stick with it.

Since joining this challenge I've gained approx an inch to 1-1/2". It has to be using Surge twice a day since I've been so slack in adhering to my regime. I've got to step up to the plate so I will have better results to report. Good luck all!

BAD NEWS
I just took my braids out. I'm a little discouraged due to breakage. My temple area has broken off a lot and I ripped a braid out accidently so I have a bald spot.

GOOD NEWS

The nape of area which was a problem has just about caught up with the rest of the back area. Which made my hair look much fuller.

LESSON LEARNED

No ponytails, must moisturize, and tie up my braids.

My hair seems to be progressing right along. I still have braids (since Dec. 23) and I seem to have about an inch and a half of unprocessed newgrowth. I'm so excited, I want to just take my braids out and relax to see exactly how far I am from bra strap, but I'm trying to wait another two weeks for a total of 12 weeks. Anyway I will be posting pics each time I take my braids down. I'm shooting for waist length by Dec. '05.

I had a touch up yesterday and a pretty deep trim. I'm closer to a blunt cut in the back (which I wanted) and my hair is even but I'm a little further away from my goal. I had planned to grow to brastrap and THEN trim out the layers but, oh well. I've also started taking pantothenic acid to try to thicken up my fine hair.

Nothing wrong with going back to what works! I am glad you didn't get too scissor happy.

I am so sorry to hear about your braid dilema. It will grow back with extra tlc. Congrats on the nape catching up. That's a feat because that is a lot of people's problem area.

That's a lot of newgrowth. Congrats! Keep waiting. You don't have much longer to go. Good Luck getting to waist. I am sure you can do it!!

Sometimes plans change. All and all your hair is beautiful and you will be at brastrap at no time at all. Good Luck taking the vits to help thicken up your hair!!

I didn't do good this month. It's time for my touch up but since I'll be taking pictures soon I wanted my hair to look fresh. I've been using my oils and moisturizer but I just don't have the patience to detangle. I do try but it's hard. I'll post a pic after my touch-up.

Is detangling you major problem? If so you may want to try the pantene detangler. I don't like to detangle either and it makes it really quick and easy.

I'm still in the race. I have decided to go back to just leaving my hair alone. Trying to wear it down requires too much manipulation. Since my primary goal now is maintaining length, I will save the frequent styling for the time when I have longer hair to style. I have reached my first landmark of 18" which is where I'd hoped to be this month. My next goal is 20", and I will be in braids and low maintanence up-do's until then, God willing.

Keep on keepin' on girls!!

You have to do what is best for you and your hair! Congrats on reaching the 18 inches. now on to the next goal!! HHG

Well, I think I am going to stay in the game for a little while longer--instead of chopping. I found a salon/stylist that is willing to work with my textures as I stretch my time between touch ups. The dryness is still there, but what was most frustrating is trying to comb out my own hair, I got more and more nervous if I saw any breakage.

Although the stylist believes in stretching relaxers, she did give me the line about needing the dead ends trimmed. She told me that I needed two inches trimmed--but I completely disagree! My ends are fine, in fact they don't ever look any better even after a big trim. It's the hair that's closer to my head that is giving me trouble. Why do they always have to talk trims?

My hair is trying to make some progress. My shedding and breakage is somewhat under control. My ends are really thin this must be because of the breakage. I tried the Nioxin line this weekend, my hair came out really well. I used some samples but I think I'm going to purchase the full size. I finally bought a digital camera so I can really keep track of my progress. I will be relaxing at 10 weeks instead of 12 because by the time I get to 10 weeks my hair starts to break really bad no matter what I do.

Since last month nothing much has happened. I’m sure my hair has improved in some way, but I can’t really tell. I’ve been trying to fine-tune a simple regimen w/ few products and steps. I may go back to daily CW; they worked very well for me last summer. I also really need to stop talking to my mom and grandmother about my hair they just don’t understand and they aren't encouraging.

It’s been almost a year since my last relaxer, and I have no clue what I want to do with my hair. My mom says I should just relax, my grandmother feels the same. I just don’t know.

I have taken my braids out. You can check out my pics. Still no perm tomorrow I will be 19 weeks post relaxer. I believe I had over 1 1/2 inches of new growth from my braids. But I think I will need a trim once I get my perm.

I'm still in, have a new starting length! I cut my hair tonight and am happy I did. So I guess that's a setback, but it feels so much better and looks better.

Nothing major going on. I got another trim last month and I still have tons of knots and tangles. :( I’m planning on getting my braids this weekend and just wearing a quick weave for a while.

Hey Guys!
I am so frustrated. I make some progress and then I feel like I have to trim. I can't stop trimming. I just don't want to have length, I want it to be healthy. I need serious help.

I have not seen much progress. My next relaxer is supposed to be next week but I am going to stretch it out until after I come back from Miami. Hopefully after my relaxer I will see some results.
