Steaming Challenge 2012 - Part II

About to steam for 10 minutes ... Time is of the essence, plus I'm steaming in agave syrup, we'll see how that goes.

I washed with Brown Butter Beauty Shampoo followed by Grapeseed Oil combined with Brown Butter Beauty Deep Conditioner under the steamer for about 30 minutes.

Steaming Newbie here...

So, I ordered a steamer, I've been stalking it on FedEx website:grin: it's supposed to get here today, so had a few newbie questions:

Do you use it with or without plastic cap?
I intend to incorporate it in my weekly regime so will use once a week, but how many times a week do you use it?
What are the best products/regime you recommend?

Kiowa  I steam twice a week (friday and saturday) I do not use a cap. I'm a dry DC'er so I dampen my hair with AVG (aloe vera gel) and then add various conditioners and oils..and recently I've been adding agave syrup to my steam/dc's. I use Aubrey conditoners and Giovanni...depending on what I'm going for....protein or moisture etc...

Kiowa Woot! So exciting!!! :woot:

To answer your questions, I don't steam with a cap because that would be defeating the purpose. How will all of that luscious steam penetrate your hair if you're wearing a cap? :drunk:

Most folks steam once or twice a week. I tend to steam two or more times a week because:

1) My hair is incredibly dry, and
2) Steam = addicting

As far as what products to use, well, no one can really tell you that since everyone's hair is different. You'll just have to play around with lots of yummy deep conditioners to determine what your hair likes best. :yep: I myself prefer using stuff without cones/mineral oil/pertrolatum, etc. because I feel that they penetrate better and are more nourishing. :)

Have fun steaming! :yay:

I steamed yesterday with Jojoba oil and My Honeychild Molasses Deep Conditioner after doing a Henna Treatment.

Steamed with sunflower oil followed by a steam with Sitrinillah mixed with agave nectar. Will give a verdict about the agave nectar after my hair completely dries.

First time steaming.. finally figured how to assemble the steamer, no darn instructions enclosed:nono:

This is my henna weekend, so I went under the steamer for 1hr...no hay hair!..

Just going to focus on one or two products for now, so I can figure out what my hair likes and what it does not.

Followed up with another session with Joico J-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor, ORS Replenshing Pak and AE Garlic mask massaged in the scalp.

I haven't a clue what I'm doing, but I did a facial mask while I was under their at the same time:lol:..but now I really do think my fairy godmother come and totally replace my hair with healthy soft locks of fabulousness...and my skin looks like someone airbrushed in on..

Can't to see what concoctions I can cook up for next week..:yep:

I  the agave nectar. The curl definition is amazing. Similiar to when I use Terressentials Mudwash or do a bentonite treatment. I put 4oz of agave nectar in my 16 oz of Sitrinillah. My hair feels silky & soft :yep:.

I haven't steamed in a min. I'm going to steam tonight so that I can try the Wen DC. I have to cut holes in a cap. That is the only way to comfortably fit all my hair under the steamer b/c clips are a pain.

I wanna steam so bad, but I'm holding out for my Marie Dean, which will be here tomorrow. I'm steaming as soon as that box gets ripped open.

IDareT'sHair Well, originally, I intended to go to the site and just choose one moisturizer. So I picked Strawberry Smoothy... and Peach Honey Syrup Deep Conditioner. I couldn't pass it up, it sounded sooo good!

Steaming now with my newly delivered Marie Dean Peach Honey Syrup Deep Conditioner.

This stuff is thiiiiiiick!
