shoulder length challenge 2007

Wow, I forgot about this. I think I'm gonna have to bow out gracefully! I got fed up with transitioning with my dead relaxed ends and so I BC'd last week. Was a bit heavy handed and now have a 2inch afro - erplexed I'll be back for next years challenge though!

okay im checking in again. i think this challenge ends in dec right? well i thought i would make it to SL by then but i took a good look at my hair and my hair is REALLY broken up and thin. it would take more than a trim to even it out. so im thinking i should try to get to thick neck length hair before I even aim for SL. but i will show progress pics at the end of the challenge, i just dont think ill make it to SL by then though. Happy growing to everybody.

Don't be discouraged chica, the way I look at it overall hair health should trump length goals. If you need to reassess your regime and decide to trim uneven ends, etc that's alright; your hair would be better for it. What would be point in having unhealthy, dead looking, shoulder length hair? Health first and length will follow is my motto. All the best, and keep us posted.

Hi l'm after shoulder length hair by christmas 2007.So i thought i'd start a challenge because I can only see waist lenght challenges. If you want to join me the please feel free. I would like my natural hair plaited at the shoulder or a bit below my christmas 2007. I'm taking all these vitamins daily eating a good diet full of tuna, potatoes and so on.

hair vitamins daily
mulit vitamins daily
biotin daily
evening primrose 500mg daily
amino acids daily

And i wash my hair with black soap shampoo. And its braided every two months untill I get sick of the braids. love bettytoo

Im in. I'm protective styling and stretching my relaxers out. I am baggying at night and oiling my ends constantly. We'll c what happens

Despite my salon mishap in march, I am still makeing good growth progress. My next relaxer should be during the first week of June. If all goes well, I should be a complete shoulder length by the Fall.

Actually, my hair feels great. Its just that I haven't been doing my scalp massages, taking vitamins, wearing a scarf at night, working out or drinking enough water. Plus, I've been using heat. I want to wear twist but I've had a few interviews popping up here and there. Normally, I'll wear my hair pulled back into a puff so now I am worried about the stress on my edges. I really feel like my hair is getting thicker instead of longer.

This is going on w/my hair also. It's pretty frustrating, but the upside is that others are noticing the health, even if I wish it was length that they noticed ...2007 isn't over yet though, haha.

It ain't over till its over. We still have a solid 6 months to go.

Just checked in 2 give u ladies some encouragement...I was where u ladies are less than a year ago....stay patient...remember to stretch those relaxers,no trimming or cutting till' u reach your goal and keep your ends moisturized/ protected...I'm currently on the APL challenge,hope to see u ladies on your way there by next year ...god bless & HHG

Just got done washing and blowdrying hair...I am sooooo close, yet so far away from SL...b/c of these stupid layers from like 1-2 yrs ago!!!

your hair sounds like mine. my whole front needs a good 6 inches ( cuz i have about 4 inches of thin ends)before it can even catch up to the back. ill see how much progress i can make by december.

I am going to claim it by October...that's my Journey's anniversary. I figure that'll give me enough time to whip my front hairs into shape

Count me in!! My hair is at the bottom of my neck length wise. I am currently in Kinky Twists. I got them on May 9th. I plan to keep them until around the end of July or the first of August. Hopefully, I will reach shoulder length by then!!!!!

I am sooooo close to SL...I took my braids out two days ago and I like my length...in the back a few pieces reach the shoulder but I will probably wait until December when my sides are there to call it.
that means by this time next year I should be APL...but after that I want to focus on getting my hair long w/shrinkage...I want it to be shoulder length with shrinkage

Judging by your last picture (3/07), I would consider you already full shoulder length. Does anyone else consider this shoulder length. I'm confused.

Is it too late to join the challenge? I just relaxed my hair one week ago and I finally made it to shoulder length however I trimmed about 2 inches off so I am back to where I started from. I would like to reach full shoulder length by December 2007, I think I need about 3-4 inches to get there. I will take pics and post them this weekend. Nice that I have folks to ride with on my journey

Today, I deep conditioned, detangled and trimmed my ends. I tried to take vitamins again, but it really broke my skin out. I started to drink more water but it didn't help. How knows it may be due to stress. I am definately doing the baggie and scalp massages.

I am so excited, I just took my hair out of braids yesterday and experienced very little breakage when I detangled this morning. I will get a rollerset done on Saturday and I am getting my retouch next Wednesday (ending a 27-week stretch). I should be very close to shoulder length right now but December is my target date to be at full shoulder length. I will post my picture updates next week Thursday or so.
