"She's bugging, she know that's a Curly Weave!..." My Vent!

So I know most of us has experienced this many times, but it doesn't make it any less annoying :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:...

This wknd was chock full of ppl touching my hair, asking me what kind of hair that was in my head, and literally talking behind my back saying how I wish that was my real hair!

So Friday was my homegirls 30th bday and I rocked a braidout b/c it's too hot for anything else..
Anyway during the night my homegirl's friend sat next to me and literally put her hands through my hair and CARESSED MY SCALP! As she did it she said "ooh girl, I love your hairstyle, is that all you?" So I jumped back said thanks and kindly asked her not to touch my hair b/c I don't like it. Why do ppl feel the need to put there hands in your hair! I've had ppl question my hair, but NEVER not only put their hands in my hair, but caress my scalp. That's a violation :nono:... It's not that serious...My friend said I should of took her arm and flung it out of my head :lachen:

Then Sat. when I was hanging out I was walking down the block and ran into a former classmate, she was w/ 2 friends... Anywho we were talking and she asked me where did I buy my hair from and what type of hair was it. I told her it was mine and she proceeded to tell me I was bugging! "that's not your hair girl plz, you wish" I didn't feel the need to prove anything to her, but while I was talking to her, her two friends were behind me talking about "that b!tch wish that was her hair, It's a curly weave. I hate when black b!tches try to be white acting like they can grow some hair. She know she bought that from the Ave...":blush::blush::blush:
I turned aorund and said very nicely, you're very wrong... then I turned around and smiled and told them to have a good night and walked away!

Not to offend anyone but I don't understand our community sometimes and their ignorance. I think a lot of the stereotypes about black women and our hair that other ehtnicities may have are perpetuated by our communnity and it's very unfortunate. And why do I have to be a b!tch! b/c you think I'm lying???? you don't even know me!!! Even if you feel I'm not being truthful, why do you have to call me names, roll eyes and be childish!!! why disrespect me? why is it that big of a deal to you?

Sorry, I'm still a little hot :ohwell:...
How do you respond when ppl violate your hair? Does this happen often to you? Next time I may have to go Ike Turner on someone...:lachen:

Here are some pics of my hair this wknd

You know people hate it when others have what they want. They only want to tear you down so that they can feel better about themselves. I can see why they were jealous though, your hair is so gorgeous.

Ignore the haters and keep doing you! :yep:

ETA: And I will never understand how audacious people can get with other people's hair! Just this Saturday, I was out at the mall with my SO, when he ran into a friend. She commented on my hair and just started sticking her fingers in and rubbing my scalp! She had the nerve to be ROUGH, too. I was SHOCKED; I couldn't even say anything. Next time, though, it's gonna be :brucelee:

And I just BC'ed a month ago. I can't imagine what it'll be like when I actually have some hair. :nono:

Now being honest (and I mean this in a good way), your hair does look like some top quality virgin indian wavy. It's beautiful!

The scalp rubbing and name calling was out of line. But, I do understand where it stems from.

Your hair is gorgeous. You handled yourself perfectly. Really, what use is it to try to prove anything. I guess they'd feel better about themselves if they could prove that your hair was not "better" (healthier, longer) than theirs.

Your hair is beautiful. I agree with MSA at first glance it does look like a good weave :giggle:

But thats no excuse for the way you were treated.

Once again, your hair is beautiful. Off to check out your fotki.

You have a beautiful head of hair. Instead of them believing you and asking how they might be able to achieve a similar look, they opted for acting ignorant and catty. You handled the situation much better than I would have.

you handled it well! i would have turned around, looked that chick straight in the eye, and proceeded to part my hair & put my scalp all in her face!!! i'd be like, "i don't see any tracks, do you?!"

your hair is GORGEOUS!!! take it as nothing more than a misguided compliment!

Beautiful hair, you handled the situations very well.

Doesn't she? Because if folks were behind me calling me **** and what not I would have went off. Your hair is beautiful and it looks like it could be a weave and I mean that as a compliment. You hanled the situation like a lady!!

mmmm hmmmm. I feel the same way you do. Some females just blow me with all their ignorance and ridiculousness, just haters. You were a lot better than me though. I would have told them because calling people names is just .... I don't even really know what. I can't put children down because my daughter is 6 and knows better!! But guess what. That is your hair and they're just mad it is not theirs. I wonder if they know how jealous they look when they act like that. Some females ( and I am not offended cuz sometimes the truth hurts) especially the ones in our race need a MAJOR attitude adjustment!

I would have thought it was a weave too, LOL! I wouldn't have had the audacity to ask though! I haven't had anyone ask me if my hair was a weave in a long time. When someone does, I just tell them that it's not. Now, if they get snarky I will mirror it right back.

You know people hate it when others have what they want. They only want to tear you down so that they can feel better about themselves. I can see why they were jealous though, your hair is so gorgeous.

. . .

ITA with Ro. Some individuals would prefer to say you have NOT achieved something than admit you have reached a goal that they have not. *** em.

Yes my dear oh and by the way you are lovely and so is your hair. Yes the ignorance still abounds and people still have this negative stereotype that Black women cannot have long hair. Believe me it will not be your last time that you will get weaved checked.

With all the information out there people will still believe otherwise. When people do this they are not only disrespectful to you but they are disrespecting themselves also for acting in this childish behaviour. They see something in you that they wish they had since they don't hence all the static. As far as the Bioiutch thing these people are unevolved. I mean this girls are not a part of your crew of friends with this behaviour

Don't sweat it. Just keep doing what you are doing and live your life to the fullest. Just remember from what I have seen on here many women who have decided to change their hair care and decided to make the step for healthy hair and long hair also come across this many times too. Its just par for the course.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Black women with a full head of hair that is not a weave and edges that are full. That is healthy some natural some not.

Weave checks will happen, People will not believe even if you took out a micro tooth comb and start parting your hair right there on the spot some people won't believe you. some people will get mad and start name calling. Just let it go.

Live long and prosper

CARESSED YOUR SCALP?? :lachen: Okay she was wrong for that but how you put it was funny.

I don't understand people who put their hands in other peoples hair. You never know how often a person washes their hair. What if somebody has lice and you running your digits all through their head:nono:

Your hair is beautiful. You are truly a better person than I am. I wish I had half of your patience. Some women need to believe all longer hair is weave to make themselves feel better.

Then Sat. when I was hanging out I was walking down the block and ran into a former classmate, she was w/ 2 friends... Anywho we were talking and she asked me where did I buy my hair from and what type of hair was it. I told her it was mine and she proceeded to tell me I was bugging! :perplexed:nono::rolleyes:

WOW.

You reacted better than I would:look: Comments like that really irritate me. They were so rude too. What did their hair look like? Just curious:look:

You look very cute. The braidout came out beautiful and you have nice skin.

I think we may be in the same neighborhood.

I almost never use this excuse but this time I feel pretty comfortable saying that the answer to all your questions can be summed up in one word: envy.

I read a whole article about jealousy vs. envy in Psychology Today over the weekend (they arent the same thing btw)

Envy is when you want what someone else has while Jealousy is the fear that what you have is being threatened/impeded on by someone else.

Those women want your hair....not all women...but the ones you spoke of in your anecdote clearly have bought into the hype that black hair doesnt have the capacity to grow and that length = white.

If I was you I would have been an a-hole, sashayed my self to the bathroom, made a part straight down the middle of my head and walked out with two pigtails (showing there are no tracks) and watched those broads gag with indignance. :lachen:

ok maybe I wouldnt have done that  but thinking about it tickled me a bit.

At the end of the day those chicks are more to be pittied than scorned. I feel your pain cause I've actually been followed to the hair aisle at CVS by women with bad wigs as they try and figure out if my hair is all mine. It's no coincidence that the folks who are the most upset by healthy, long hair are those who dont have it.

Next time you see someone reaching for your scalp look them dead in the face, raise a pefectly arched brow, and be like "uh uh. i dont like anyone but my man touching my hair."

works like a charm...and also lets them know you arent one to be messed with. :yep:

Your hair is FLAWLESS! Lovin that braid out--

Let them hate.

My aunt was up from out of town and gave me a scalp massage out of nowhere too. Inside I was SCREAMING but I just smiled and let her continue. I do not like people touching my hair either.

Thanks guys... again, I never experienced anything like that before... the audacity to put your hands all through my scalp! makes me mad just thinking about it. Then the following day to have someone call me a b!tch? you don't even know me! ::sigh:: all b/c you think my hair is fake? doesn't make sense to me

you and your hair are gorgeous! Your hair looks like "doll" hair or velvet black and it can be mistaken for weave. I have that type of hair when straighten so I understand. You handled yourself in a mature and adult manner.

And who has the nerve to ask someone if their hair is real? Thats rude. Plus caressing you scalp. Super rude.

I really wish the black community didnt have ignorance about hair care.

I agree with the ladies who said it looks so good that it's no wonder they thought it was fake. What I don't get is why people have to be so obnoxious. Why does it have to be "fronting" or trying to act white even if it had been a weave?  Can't people wear their hair how they want to wear it just because they have the option without it having to be calling "acting like what you're not"? Haters irk the heck out me. (Kat Williams NSFW language)

Sadly, this is the state of where many women are. Cattyness, and jealousy.

I am glad that we have forums like this.... we have many supporters and caring folks here - in the battle together for great hair!!!!!

!!! Girl - I would have PULLED and yanked on my hurr.... to prove a point :giggle:
