Relaxed Hair Thread

I’ve heard the fibergaurd doesn’t get the hair as straight but retains more strength. I use the first one- not sure if anyone here uses fiber guard and can chime in.

Alright... gonna try the first one then, the cream relaxer.

These are the things I think I would need:

Step 1: Protecto With Argan Oil
Step 2: Creme Relaxer (resistant strength)
Step 3: 5 in 1 Reconstructor or Positive Link Conditioner? Which of these belongs to this system?
Step 4: Normalizing Shampoo

What else do I need/what else do you recommend?

This time, I want to get everything right, every small detail... because if this does not work, this will be my last try.

Of course I will let you know if it worked. :-)

I use the positive link treatment for step 3. I think it starts neutralizing the relaxer.
Step 5 would be a bond builder (ie k18) and the last step is deep conditioning with the best low ph product you have. I try various things but I might do the Redken abc mask as my deep conditioning step in my next relaxer.

Got it.

This one?
Or which one do you recommend?

Alright.

Now we only need a cleansing or a chelating shampoo to use beforehand, and we got everything ready. Any recommendations for that one?

I am curious how this "experiment" will turn out this time... :)

yep that’s the k18 I use although I bought the salon set cause the consumer bottles are ridiculous for the amount you receive. It’s difficult to find sometimes though if you aren’t licensed.

Using the k18 detox shampoo is good and then you could pre strengthen your hair before relaxing. That’s my preferred clarifying shampoo.

this is goals right here- her hair is so beautiful

I do wish I could find fine hair, high porosity YTubers with really long hair. It’s very underrepresented. I’m almost 6 months post and I really feel like throwing in the towel on this stretch. This is the longest stretch I’ve done thus far. I mixed a couple conditioners/oils that probably don’t mix well together and had some issues detangling even though my hair was very soft but not mushy. I think I will scale back to one conditioner and maybe add in argan oil ( or coconut oil once I restock). the castor oil was too thick imo.

Looking at relaxer result videos probably isn’t helping but I really want to do it… I’m mentally preparing to for Easter :look:

@ScorpioLove
As a long stretcher (6-9 months), I've learned that the longer I stretch, the less I need to have my hands in my hair. Have you changed your mind about rocking braided styles?

And thank you so much for sharing another head to drool over! Her hair is :drool:

IA that there are very few fine haired long relaxed ladies represented - esp those with lower density too. I still go back and watch TheTabby1 (I think that's how her user name is spelled) bc even though the videos are old, the practices/techniques are still applicable. And her techniques are very simple. She relaxes much straighter than we do but her hair still thrived and she was no stranger to HL hair!

I'll come back and add a link to one of her vids bc if I go right now, I'll get sucked into the YT relaxed hair rabbit hole and won't come out. :giggle:

@MzSwift I wouldn’t, just feel like that would be a more tangled mess and stress out my sensitive scalp. I love the look of some Senegalese twists for summer and even bought some hair for it a while ago but I have a gut feeling it would lead me to a set back.

Going to dc with my most detangling conditioner for next wash day. My hair is in a Rollerset bun for the week and I might just leave it that way till Saturday since this is a particularly busy week across multiple parts of my life.

Tabbi had such gorgeous hair, I still look at her videos once in a while. It’s just a shame we don’t have any current people, I like to do my hair whilst looking at hair goals. I think more people are coming back to hair boards and maybe our old inspirations will come back

The affirm cream relaxer in resistant strength is really hard to get over here...
Normal and mild no problem, but resistant... almost no chance.

Any other lye-relaxers you could recommend if I'm aiming to go bone straight?

I've been trying to stay out of the convo bc I texlax but I've found Motions regular lye relaxer to be strong when I did bonelax.

I have cottony, fine, 4b/a hair naturally. I've found that I've gotten accidentally straighter results by over smoothing. I don't use the back of a comb the way stylists do but I wonder if you'd get really straight results using a hard straight object to smooth out the relaxer a few times after it's applied.
