Relaxed 2 Natural Insanity Challenge 2014/2015/2016

Braidouts are now my friend again! Rocking. 5th day braidout now. It's nice to have textured hair that is easily re manipulated into this style! When I had a lot of straight hair they would just shrink up and look stupid! The roots were full and the ends were thin and stringy :(

100 something (maybe 106??) weeks post.

Hey y'all, I went ahead and big chopped. This was the only way I was gonna go natural. I am loving the ease of doing all 3" of my hair. Really happy with my decision and looking forward to enjoying my hair in 2014,

Thank you! I 13 weeks post. My last touch up was a texturizer. The last inch is more an likely texturized hair but it curls much like my natural hair.

I washed my hair on my own last week and omg I have about an inch to 1.5 inches of texlaxed and natural hair all over. Back in he day I would just big chop at this point but that's not an option. I love straight hair but I don't want the crazy reversion I'm getting right now. I am signing up for a swim class in the evenings next year so DBOs aren't an option anymore. I know Napp had success with BKTs so I'm going in for my first express blowout today and I hope to do it every 2 months until next December. I really want to transition for a year.

I've been natural before but transitioning seems like a much bigger challenge.

Blargh. The salon receptionist scheduled me wrong!! So back to the original plan and getting a blowout. I'd wait but I have a wedding tomorrow.

haha this challenge came a little too late for me so I won't be participating. I'm 91 weeks post and will be doing my final (and biggest mini chop) in 2 weeks. I wanted to transition for a full 2 years but I just couldn't make it. It is no joke dealing with two textures! But I'll tell you ladies the biggest things that helped me get through were braid/twist outs, bunning (mostly wet), nearly daily co-washing, weekly DC'ing, and WNGs once I mastered them. It took a LONG time to find products for each of these steps/styles that worked for me. Good luck and move your scissors out of sight because there are days where it will be too frustrating!

How many weeks/months post did you start daily cowashing, wash and gos, etc?

I'll be 9 months post tomorrow. Its a bit surreal....In 3 more months I'll actually be 1 year post and I couldn't be happier.

just realized my last relaxer was October 27 (i don't count my botched texlax attempt cuz my hair was still 70-90% natural).

im already 9 weeks post. by the end of my braids install, i'll be almost 5 months post!!

Living in braid outs right now until I figure out what to do when I go back to the gym. Too many new year people there now.

Tomorrow makes 18 weeks post. I may not straighten until December. My new growth is flat iron resistant. Go figure. I'll probably chop 3-4 inches then.

1) last length check pic as a starting pic
I am about an inch from WL. I plan to do a TRUE length check with my roots and hair flat ironed in March.

2) number of weeks or months post relaxer
I am currently 14 months post.

3) your transitioning mini chop plan
I am planning a long transition. My plan is to do mini chops 1-2 times a year.

4) favorite transitioning hairstyle
Definitely twist outs. They blend my textures well and I love the look of them.

5) your HG transitioning product (it could be a moisturizer, conditioner, etc)
Well, I have three. My jessicurl too shea leave-in, distilled water and my camille rose JAI twist butter.

6) your "planned" final mini chop and at how many weeks/months that will be when your transition has ended
I would LOVE to transition for 3 years (October 2015), but I just take it one month at a time. Right now, I am just trying to get to my next transitioning milestone (18 months).

7) your natural hair crush (I have a TON, all youtubers)
Nina Pruitt
GlamTwinz
NaturalNeicy
Alexxxhes (transitioning inspiration)
Afrolengths
CourtneyNaturalHair
Longhairdontcare2011
Reniece
ShyCurls
SunShower143

Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations, it looks amazing!!! Enjoy your hair.

As for me, I threw some box braids in about a week before Christmas and the plan was to leave them in until the end of January but Lord knows I am already so fed up with them. I can't wait to take them out, I miss my hair. Never thought I would feel that way!

I just ordered a blow dryer, I don't want to become addicted to heat but I also don't want to be so dependent on the salon so I want my own tools
Anyone have any flatiron recommendations?

What blow dryer did your order?

I'm looking for a flat iron myself. I've heard good things about FHI and I used to own a sedu pre hair journey and it was really good. Too bad I blasted it when I plugged it into a European outlet. LOL!

After 2 years of growing my hair out, my natural hair shrinks to the top of my chin but when stretched is almost APL. If you are not ready to face shrinkage like this then keep growing with me Ladies! As you can see, I have alot of relaxed ends left and those babies aint going nowhere...I keep them as healthy as I can to stick around for the long haul.:lachen:

I have been researching flat irons lately for when I skip the salon and straighten at home for my monthly straight hair sessions. Since I have fallen in LOVE with steaming, I knew I wanted a flat iron with a steam like effect. I also wanted one without it, so ummm yeah I purchased 2 a few days ago from Amazon. I'll come back next month and let you guys know when I use one of them.

Babyliss BABTT4073 Pro TT Tourmaline Titanium Steam Straightener 1 1/5 inch

Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium 1 1/4 inch

As for now, I use my step daughter's Amika ceramic iron. It's good too, just want one or two of my own.

Your curls are GORGEOUS! I agree with not wanting to part with my relaxed hair. I love both!

I'm interested in a flat iron that utilizes steam. So I'll be looking for that review. My new growth laughs at my current ceramic iron. Maybe I shouldn't worry about heat damage. LOL!
