Really BIG choppers (1 to 3 inches) support thread

Accessorize!!!! I chopped down to 1 inch last Sept. My advice to you ladies is to add clips, a headband, barrets, hair flowers or whatever if you feel bored or your hair is just too short to style very much. It makes a big difference..and it looks cute. :)

Taina & a- shoe-6307! we will get through this together, as soon as we are able to try more grown up styles it will get better, but it is also good just to let the frustrations out, because you feel better after you do LOL!!

I know alot wear headbands and have no problems but this is just for me so I am not trying to offend any headband wearers!

Yes she is very inspirational...and very beautiful. She could have no hair and still look drop dead gorgeous. Now if I looked like her then I wouldn't care, lol. :yep:

interesting.....i'm curious about her baking soda dc. she's very pretty and confident i must say. i am subbing so i can view all of her tubes.

About 2 weeks ago, I chopped off SIX inches of hair. It was craziness!!! It's grown back at least an inch more. The ends are reaching downward again and it's uneven. I think that at this point, cutting really does make it push. It's bsl..an inch below actually. I was around 3 above waist length and it seemed to reach a slight plateau.

OK, so i try to make something to my hair 2 weeks ago (jeje), but the sides still too short, or maybe it could work with a smaller clip-clap

If you have any try ons, put your pictures in here =)

Nice thread!!! I'm always late, hehe. Also a REALLY BIG chopper here. Shaved it all off, and I'd say about the first..hm...inch maybe, of my hair is/was scab hair. Wouldn't respond to anything, and sticks up pin straight. They also had little "dips" in them when I'd look at the fallen off pieces. Very weak. It seems most of that hair's fallen out or broken out, now. Or it's just finally responding to my regimen. My hair's now about 2 or so inches long.

Taina, you have a very pretty hair color!! Is that natural, or some sort of dye?

Thanks!!! It L'oreal color or ganier nutrisse ... i don't really remember the brand. I was a trying to get a mahogany, but i also like this one =)

I was a HUGE chopper! I didn't even have an inch when I chopped last November. Be encouraged ladies. I didn't style my hair much when I first chopped but now at 10 months post BC my hair is a little past neck length and I'm having fun with styling. :yep:

Great thread!!

I too, have decided not to transition for very long.
My last relaxer was in may,and i can't wait to get rid of these ends.I am wearing my first sew-in weave, with the sides, front, and back left out.I cut all the relaxed ends off the sides and back last night, and i'm cutting the rest off the front tonight.I'm so tired of buying products for this relaxed hair that i plan on cutting off anyway.I don't want to worry about taking care of it anymore.
When i take this weave down(end of this month or next month),i'm gonna go ahead and bc:yep:
I will have transitioned for 4-5 months.
I'm sooooo ready!!

Just wanted to show you guys my little finger style I did the other night after my break down. It worked pretty good, but the back of my hair is so wavy it wants to be wavy instead of curl. Anyhoo I digress, lol. I just wanted to post so you ladies could get some ideas for hair styles.

I basically pre poo, washed, dc. Then, I used Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding (you can use gel or hair butter or whatever you like to define your curls) and put it on my wet hair and detangeld with the denman brush. After that I twisted the curls around my finger and let them pop back. Viola, done!

PS - Sorry for the jiffy pop thing on my head... :lachen:

Hi ladies, I did my BC July 22nd it was shaved down to 3/8" all over. I had a small transition of 2 to 2.5 months. My first couple days my hair was dry. I was excited but didnt like the dry factor. The thing that has helped me was co-washing daily for about the first 2 weeks and at least once a week did a shampoo/clarify wash.

I also experiemented with a few conditioners and styler activator/gels to find something to help keep the moisture in. I'm surprised as I haven't done any sealing with oils at all and have been able to keep a head full of moisturized curls all day. When i first started out i had the crunchy feeling.

I look forward to learning and growing with you all as this phase twa is so akward as i tried to get sengalese twists but they wouldn't stay as my hair wasn't as long as it should be. Maybe in October I can retry.

A_shoe that looks SO pretty. I really like it. Maybe you can try a beanie on the back?

I too am a BC. I transitioned for 3 months and BCed in March. My hair is growing nicely but not fast enough. I had a good couple of inches when I BCed and now I am NL stretched. I did some twists all over tonight and I think they came out pretty good.

I hide my hair quite a bit bc the sun is harsh on my hair. When I do wear it out I add flowers or bands.

I am subscribing to this thread! I was a REALLY big chopper...i transitioned for about 3 months. I finally decided to cut off the relaxed end, and then decided to get a low "boy" cut...i love it, not sure if i want to grow my hair! Lol anyway im dealing with some dryness but iam not yet discouraged and still excited....Yay!!! I kinda remember what my hair used to be like natural, but cant wait to see the real texture again.

ow! i big chopped last year august, shaved off fully after a day looking at natural albums, my hair is stilll hard, dry and i still have my scabbed ends so i will be subscribing :)

I love the BC. Looking good!!!

Hey Ladies!!
signing up! I "transitioned" for 6 months and on June 5th, 2009 I cut it off. I had about 2" in the back and the front was a hot mess...one side was shorter than the other...basically a horrible Kanye West mullet :giggle: I wanted to keep it cause I thought it was funny...however, the stylist and my friends would not let me step out like that...they said I need to even it out..so I did and ended up with .5" of hair left...after three months since my BC i have 3" on my way to BSL :giggle:

Now...I am really bored with my hair...and looking for inspirations...

Thanks for the thread. I transitioned for 2.5 mths and decided to just do it. It was either that or throw some relaxer in. I'm glad I did it!

Wow!
Okay,so i bc'ed all the way around my head, but i'm gonna have to take this weave down to even it up,because its parted slightly uneven, and i don't want jack it up.
I'm excited already:yep:
I keep playing with the all natural part.
My sis called me crazy, and my hubby was mildly disappointed, but he supports me so i know it won't bother him for too long.I can't wait to chop the rest!!

I BCed this January with less than an inch of hair. I now have like 4 1/2 in of hair. I think I am making great progress. I am retaining my length also. My hair is just mega thick...

I BCed on the 2nd of September my hair is really thick, that's the reason why I chose to relax it I'm in canerows now with a phony pony. I kind of regret doing it so soon coz my hair out looks weird since there is quite a lot of relaxed ends still attached.

Glad you started this thread. I BC'd again for the 7th time. Hubby took the clippers out. I think I have maybe an inch of hair now. My goal is to have the current Halle style but on my texture hair. I think I may keep it short. Right now I'm just using Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle rose shampoo and conditioner and using IC Polisher gel to style (sometimes) and coconut oil for shine and retain moisture. My camera isn't working now or I would post a pic but here is one from 2 years ago....my hair looks pretty much the same.

So....i have a question....I been reading threads about ppl who chopped after a short/no transition. My hair seems to be dry all the time, no matter what, i cant tell if its just me not being used to the "new texture" or if it really is dry...(that sounds dumb....dont stone me) Any who when i try to let my hair airdry it seems to have no curl definition im thinking maybe its to short to tell, i have no relaxed hair left.....oh im so confused but not discouraged. All i do is gel it up, and wear a do-rag/scarf and wear if flat like in my siggy....any advice, or products that yall use to keep your hair moist?

Addy, i guees we all had dry hair when chopped, some girls said they still have it. What i did was DC the whole night, i did it three nights in a row and my hair started to feel so soft. I also use a homemade spritz with a lot of oil in it to prevent my hair to go dry again
