I just found out I'm APL less than a year after my tapered cut! I'm definitely gonna reach my goal of BSL by the end of the year.

I've just been cowashing every 1-2 days and wearing wash n gos and just letting my hair grow!

What products do you use? How do you handle having wet hair so often

I took out my cornrows because I was feeling too self conscious with my wigs. I managed to wrangle it in a ugly bun: idk what to do with my hair now.

Try mini braids. In my opinion, it got my hair to lay down even flatter (*under the wigs especially if you do bricklayer parts)than the cornrows. I would have to do small cornrows if I wanted my wig to lay flat.

It took me 3 hours to give up and put my hair in a claw clip. I tried to do twists but that failed. Then I tried a wash and go and that failed. Then I tried to flat twist the front and it looked awful. So I tried to put in a bun but it was so tangled on the ends I had to take out a lot of knots and was in tears at this point. I just want something simple where I can leave it In for 2 weeks and refresh. I tried adding a little twisting hair and it slid right out. I need a solution. I was thinking of just locing my hair but I’m not a fan of the way they look on me. I can’t believe I cried real tears over this


ETA: I ended up slicking my hair into A braid and tying it down and then wearing a wig on top. I’m getting cornrows professionally done soon. The wigs made me happy

What products do you use? How do you handle having wet hair so often

I've gotten used to having wet hair for the past 12 years I've been natural.

I almost always wear wash n gos. What changes for me was that I was in school and busy and wasn't cowashing my hair like I needed to. My hair thrives with lots of water like a plant.

My hair was dry and heat damaged out of this world so I had it cut really short last October. (I didn't like it).

Right now I mainly use products from Brazil such as the Movie Star hair care line by Novex (I love this brand especially the Movie Star Leave in curl cream) and I also use Shea Moisture products. I even dabble in products from the Dominican Republic.

I know a lot of ppl don't like Shea Moisture but that brand has helped my hair for YEARS!

When my wash n go gets old (maybe like 2-3 days) I'll wear it up in a bun.

And yes my hair is finally long enough for me to rock my bun again.

I'm going to pray to the Almighty to be able to switch to a pants-optional lifestyle. Just wear all kinds of pretty dresses and skirts. Right now with my current lifestyle it makes more sense to wear pants.

On the hairside, I think my ends (and hair overall) are doing pretty well. My scalp better enjoy this sunshine while it can, cause as soon as it gets cold, it is getting covered

Dang, I had to add a couple of rubberbands to the ends of my two braids cause they keep coming apart now. They were sticking together post relaxer at 1st, but I think it's because I stand with my back so close to the water they get kinda drenched. That's another reason why I don't straighten my hair so much, I love my hot showers and I don't want to put 50-11 things on my head to keep it straight, but hair costs too much nowadays, and I wasn't gonna do myself

I just started putting some braids in this evening smh. Long bob length. I knew I wouldn't finish today, so it'll be a headscarf at work this week...like last week, so no change there lol. I have a few things to do this week, so I hope I have the energy to get these done before Friday.

I’m so glad I put my hair in twist. I look put together and had to put very little effort everyday for it to look good. Just a little edge control in the morning and braid spray at night. Simple.

OooOooh rookie mistake: I think I've been giving my hair too much moisture. I definitely need to do some type of protein treatment. It tricked me because it feels great when dry, but when I moisturize I feel like I'm losing a lot of hair.

Oh believe me I have, sometimes I even go a little crazy and skip 3 or 4 days. That's how I noticed the hair feel and loss.

This my second post about the same thing

This heat had me 2 seconds away from thinking about shaving my hair off. I'm not going to do it willingly, but I was thinking about it I can't stand the growth process. If I lived somewhere like Arizona or any of the southern states, I'd be in braids for half the year. My scalp sweats too daggone much for anything else.

The texture of this wig is 3b. I know curly hair is fragile and needs moisture almost daily. I plan to buy a detangling spray and a curl cream as soon as my store starts accepting cards again. They have been cash only all week

I've never bleached my hair.

I am feeling to lighten a small patch by my nape and see if I can keep it on my head for 6 months . I just want a small liftg to a dark auburn but my hair is very fine and tight coils.

IMO it's a sign of plug hole hair. It will look nice until you wash it and then it will start tangling like mad.. Especially in the nape.

The best curly hair I have owned can easily be detangled with fingers or a brush and product in the nape. Even after Months of use. If it gets really crazy quite quickly I know its floor sweepings :/

So flatironing at 430 means my roots revert the next day. . . interesting

I'm going to have to learn how to enjoy my hair in not natural but not straight hair styles if I'm going to not big chop anytime soon.

Oh dang. You’re right about the washing thing too. My last wig got a spa wash day with a dc and bond rebuilder. It’s like new. Actually better than new. I hot this curly one with some activator spray this morning (s curl). It’s still tangled a bit, but now it’s moist and pliable. I’ll probably be wigging until October

For me the curlier the hair the shorter I get it. I have long wavy hair wigs and short big afro curly wigs. The Afro wigs are a lot of maintenance so I only wear them above the shoulders to avoid tangling.
