I do too. It’s like maybe since my hair is what it is I can just enjoy the community.@Plushottie i appreciate your posts!

Absolutely!!My membership is up in Jan and I rejoined after a decade because I was newly relaxed and was thinking this was going to be my hair yr lol. Now that’s 2 yrs ago and the flow has these hits but dips. Community use to be a cringy word to me but now as I’m older and greyer I have more understanding for the need. My hair still is short as ever and my the curiosity of it has waned. But I have loved seeing women enjoy women activities a real rarity in this era.
Absolutely!!
I've gone through so many life changes since I joined but the LHCF community has been a constant in my life.
People are still
putting glue on
their scalps?
Please stop atThat actually looks cool. I want to try it. She used got to be gel to make it stick.
I didn’t know you were taking out your locs. I thought you loved them? Or maybe I’m thinking of someone else.hoping to be done taking out my locs after work today. getting a silk press and team treatment this saturday
The mind/body connect with hair is such a deep thing. When hair is such a key thing for women who desire to present a certain way, the first thing to go for me is hair upkeep. I may take the plunge and just shave off and regrow because of how damaged it is. Relaxed or natural my hair just doesn’t do things I want ie retain. But with that I have made blonde my new wig color as black looks stark and off black brown looks plain unkept.
Feb is like really the start of the yr so it makes sense. Last time I did it I really wasn’t in a good place. This time I’m like ok what are we doing. I’m so scared of stylist haven’t had anyone touch my hair in almost a decade.Keep meditating on it and go with what your heart says!!
Before the hair boards, I used to shave my head every February, like clockwork. I didn't understand why that was the month. I would get this urge and then do it and I would feel so rejuvenated!! It was like a fresh start! This was before I had children. And the funny thing is, both of my boys were born in Feb, 13 years apart.
yeah I'm still kinda undecided on whether I really want microlocs. I miss my fro so they gotta go lol.I didn’t know you were taking out your locs. I thought you loved them? Or maybe I’m thinking of someone else.
Why don't you just join us in the mini braids/mini twists thread That way you can have the convenience of a loc-adjacent life, but still have the fro out when you miss her lol you remind me of myself so much hair decisions-wise lolyeah I'm still kinda undecided on whether I really want microlocs. I miss my fro so they gotta go lol.
but my naturellegrow conditioners arrived last night so I'm waiting on the steamer to get here.
I'm getting a silk press and trim early Saturday afternoon. I'm planning on wearing my hair out for a few weeks then I'm getting knotless braids done on Dec. 27th
Don't feel bad, I've been doing my hair for what feels like eons, and I still can't part my way out of a paper bag. Braids look nice though. I just gave up and gave it to God@ItsMeLilLucky that's actually not a bad idea. I used to wear mini braids and two strand twists a lot both as a new natural and a more seasoned natural.
I'm still not great at braiding but I do like twists as a low manipulation style.
I also like buns but my hair is so thick it won't even fit in a ponytail
thanks for the tips. I'll try it out and see how it goes@CoiledOrchids For the bun tip, I considered doing what I call a "cheat" bun. Depending on what way you wanna wear your bun, I'd just leave out the perimeter (or however much you want to leave out), and cornrow the crown (or more if you need to). That way, when it's time to slick the bun, you won't have as much bulk.
Girl (emphasis on youth) we are the same age! Gone 'head and enjoy the rest of your thirties. Over the hill is coming but we ain't there yet! Try oil and microneedling on your edges. I wore braids for a very long time can can sometimes tie my scarves too tight. A bit of my favorite oil(castor/safflower etc) and microneedling twice a week work for me when they thin. Finally dyed my hair.I typically do jet black but now that I'm in my golden years, I have started with a brown black. Today felt like the first time I really sat down and looked at my hair and geez 2023 has been harsh. My edges have always been thin but they look really hospice level. I will have to make peace with it as aside from a medical intervention I wont have thick lush edges and may be in wigs until I leave the planet. Taking time during the week to do hair hasn't been a thing since my early years on this site, in college. I just needed to get that off my chest before I finish my grad paper.
I will look into the microneedling. Age is so subjective tho the young 50 or the old 35.Girl (emphasis on youth) we are the same age! Gone 'head and enjoy the rest of your thirties.
