Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I've decided to retire my Felicia leatherwood brush. It's just too harsh on my hair. I will be experimenting with my tangle teezer to see if i can smooth out the hair comparably.

Also I'm trying to decide when will be fully natural. I think I should experience being natural with no treated ends before I finally decide about doing anything permanent to my hair again. I also don't think I have the patience/strength to transition this long again lol This is my longest transition to date.

Right now I'm just focused on length though. I really want WHIP or TBL hair. My ends are curly enough to blend so I'm not trying to cut them yet. I may change my tune when the summer hits and I want try a wash and go again.

I gotta admit I feel a little guilty when I wake up in the morning. I literally rake my hands through my hair and go about my day. I don't add any type of products.

Nothing. Zilch. Nada.

At night I do the cross wrap method, put a durag and a bonnet on and go to sleep. I do feel relieved that I did a wash and hard protein treatment 2 days before I got my silk press. So far I haven't lost any hair, at least none that I could noticeably see.
Welp  :abducted:
Starting to see some breakage, so I finger combed, then braided both sides, and pinned them. Still haven't used any products. I had a good run for me personally lol 10 days was a phenomenal time to have my hair out blowing in the wind. It's still pretty flowy, surprisingly. I might take the braids down for Thanksgiving, but since I broke my parting fingernail (ironically it's the left index finger nail. I'm right handed ) it feels too weird to try to braid, even with a comb to part, or trying alternate fingernails. Hopefully this style can(with touchups)last until my fingernail grows back. I broke it so far back, it might be a month or so.

Doing laundry is dangerous.

There will be no EOTY photo for me this year.
I've decided to install micro twists using my own hair and I'm not feeling like taking them down in 7 weeks just for the EOTY measuring purposes. I have personal hair goals and to take them down, blow out and flat iron in the middle of winter just for challenge photos isn't beneficial to that goal. In fact, I'm at a stage in life where I'm thinking of riding them out and just refreshing them until my next relaxer which might be Jan/Feb or Oct. :look: lol

OooOooh, I wanna see the micro twist.

So I took my Redken bond concentrate 14% treatment to the salon. It had so much slip. My hair was easy to detangle after letting it sit for 10 minutes. Then I had her use the Redken bond leave in. I barely noticed any breakage during the blow dry. Usually I have lots of broken pieces while she blows out my roots. I worked an 11 hour shift today, worked outside in the rain for a bit and I have zero reversion. I’m adding this to my wash day routine indefinitely.

I still have not washed my hair. I just have not been in the mood. I wake up every morning feeling like a Mac truck ran me over.

Sis, maybe it's just cowash and bun season (and then headwrap bc we are in the Midwest and it's cold) until you can get around to a wash?
Don't even make it a special trip to the kitchen sink, just do it while you're in the shower.
Just , keep the braids in, loosen it a bit at the base of the braids, and cowash it like that. Put your ponytail holders back on to give tension to the roots as they dry. No need to rebraid. Easy and the deed is done until next week or so. Should take you only a few mins while you shower. You can detangle later. ((BIG HUG))

Two braided pigtails on the sides is my go-to straight haired style too. Also, it's the only way I wash my hair whenever it's loose -- in two loose at the roots braided pigtails.

My hair is oily. Ick. I May have to do a midweek cowash or something. My scalp is oily and since my hair is straight the oil just travels down. I might wear it textured next week.

I went to the grocery store today and my little girl calls women "pretty" whenever she passes them. We social distanced from the beginning of Covid, until this past April and I homeschool her, so, she gets very excited when we are around people. In the grocery cart, my daughter will say "pretty" to ladies and smile at them as we pass them to get women's attention. It's adorable. Anyhoo, she called this black woman in her late 50's early 60's "pretty" and the lady started to talk to my daughter while complimenting my daughter's hair and outfit. When the lady complimented my daughter's hair, my little girl got this look of concern on her face and said "What's wrong wit yo hair? What you do to it?", genuinely confused. My little girl is 5. The lady laughed and said, "Kids, are honest. I knew I should'na bleached it". The woman had a cute natural, but it was pretty dry and bleached pink. I apologized for my daughter, and the lady was gracious about it. I have to work on my baby's manners.

My membership is up in Jan and I rejoined after a decade because I was newly relaxed and was thinking this was going to be my hair yr lol. Now that’s 2 yrs ago and the flow has these hits but dips. Community use to be a cringy word to me but now as I’m older and greyer I have more understanding for the need. My hair still is short as ever and my the curiosity of it has waned. But I have loved seeing women enjoy women activities a real rarity in this era.
