Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I straightened my hair last night for my birthday today and I was quickly reminded why I don't do it more often

A hot uncoordinated mess, my back, feet and neck were on fire, and there was a lot of hair everywhere. Hair. EVERYWHERE. And I still couldn't get it completely straight
Not to mention I can't tell if my ends need a trim.

It does look kinda cute though.

I'm just going to be in a bun for the next year unless I can get my hair braided again. I just do not have the energy to do it myself anymore. Wash slick and bun is just so easy to me and I don't want to lose my length at this time.(My bun is so big!) I don't care if i get "ponytail damage", "bun damage" "holes in the curls" or what ever else bs this IG stylist claim you can get unless you get their services.

I want some ginger colored knotless braids so bad, but I don’t feel like doing them myself :(

I took a couple redken products to my man’s house last night and forgot them. I had to come home this morning and get a different redken product. I took the acidic bond concentrate 5%. I noticed a lot less breakage during the blow dry process. My Dominican blowout is perfect y’all. She wrapped it for me and before I left the house I unwrapped and chose where my part would be. Jesus be a cold front, cuz I need this one to last 2-3 weeks.IMG_9799.jpeg

This face the hair chef’s kiss.

Loved my wash and go for the past week and a half but life has been lifing so I finally pulled the plug on a wig I saw on someone a year and a half ago. Hope it helps me get through the rest of the year but still allowing me to wash my hair every other week.

I have no direction with my hair at the moment so I will have to draft up my hair goals for the next year more diligently.

I think I have come to the truth as much as I like the idea of olaplex my hair really doesn’t vibe with it. I washed my hair Sunday and it’s been dry granted I did clarify it still just seems to be parched daily. I will be in a committed entanglement with Redken acidic line it seems.

I’m torn between a diy silk press and going to the salon for one. I may go swimming tomorrow, so if I do, I’ll just wash my hair and blow dry it myself.

I miss this length. I had so much flexibility with styling my hair. I’m barely APL now. I gotta get at least 2 more inches before December. My trims might be too far apart, because each time she trims 2-3 inches and I’m back to square 1.

I decided to end my journey to natural. I’m so stressed over my hair it’s ridiculous. When it’s not in a bun or braids I can’t do anything with itI can’t even do simple styles the ng is thick and dry I can’t stand it. No matter what I use it’s hard to style. I get breakage with the bun and it costs extra money to put braids in. I don’t see why I’m struggling so much and breaking so much hair just for my hair not to be dry and tangled. Maybe when there is a point where I’m no longer interested in length I will go for short natural hair

Are you getting a relaxer or texlax?

I know you’ve been struggling with this for quite awhile. I’m glad you’ve figured out a way to be happy with your hair.

I ended up not doing anything other than my trademark bun. I don’t know when I will have the time to sit down and actually do my hair. Perhaps I’ll just bun till my ends fall off

Just put a part in it, and pin the sides. I think you can rock it.
LMAOOO

I was so ready to put something to soften up the texture but I’m so busy I only could manage to wrangle my hair into a bun. This time of the year is busy so I just have no time to do anything but a bun. I don’t even think I will have time to do my hair for my birthday. Perhaps I will just wear a ponytail and call it I day. Or pony up the cash and get some twists with added hair.

I guess I will just keep transitioning until my natura hair is long enough to bun comfortably and then cut the thin ends off

got an appointment for a consultation with a new loctician on 11/18. I want my current set of locs smaller. Can't decide between microlocs started with braids or small traditional locs with interlocked and braided roots

A few days ago, I got lost while looking for a building at Georgia Tech, while I was standing at the campus directory, a beautiful lady came up and offered her help. I was so focused on the map she asked twice so I turned to look at her and see this beautiful chocolate young lady. While we were talking, I couldn't concentrate because she had the pretty, juicy and shiny mini twists.

Couldn't go to my regular place to get my wash and flat iron. I went to a new place and got it done. It was the same price, but the lady was kinda rough washing my hair. The guy did a good job flat ironing, but he burnt me a couple of times. I don't know if I'm going back to them. I'm always reminded of why I only get my hair straightened 1x a year. I also hate the way my hair smells when it gets done. When I come back I'll take a picture.

I haven't let another individual wash my hair in atleast 3 years for this very reason. I only trust my own hands to wash, detangle and press my hair.

but when the other person is gentle it's so nice.

I find that more and more I am steering away from "natural hair" brands for styling products and gravitating toward "salon" brand products or atleast the "luxury"/salon tier natural hair brands category.

Idk, I just feel like the average Shea moisture and Camille Rose Naturals products just have so much moisturizing and humectant ingredients in it that they become unviable for me as a styling product because they can't keep the style for more than a day or two. I suspect the average natural (or atleast when these brands first started this was the case) struggles with having dry hair (definitely this was something I struggled with) and needs the extra heavy moisture rich product. But now that my moisture levels are decently balanced I just don't need alladat.

(This doesn't apply when I'm wearing twists/braids or other protective styles, only for "out" styles")

Would y'all believe me if I said I'm getting tired of wearing my hair down? I had my fun of having it down and swinging. Plus, I'm ready to take my hot steamy showers again. I'm tired of taking lukewarm to warm showers  . And I wanna grease my ends lol up But before I braid it up, I'm gonna do a couple of styles.* I was actually at one point considering to stretch this press out for a month.
*this might be a lie

I gotta admit I feel a little guilty when I wake up in the morning. I literally rake my hands through my hair and go about my day. I don't add any type of products.

Nothing. Zilch. Nada.

At night I do the cross wrap method, put a durag and a bonnet on and go to sleep. I do feel relieved that I did a wash and hard protein treatment 2 days before I got my silk press. So far I haven't lost any hair, at least none that I could noticeably see.
