Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

Week 2 of just wearing a shrunken fro. So far i'm loving the look and the ease of wearing it. It really shrinks from about 10 inches to about 2 inches. We'll see how long I do this, lol.
I love that for you  I hope it continues to be easy and good looking for you.

I loved wearing my shrunken fro. Unfortunately my fro also loved my shrunken fro, much more than I would like lol I had to give it up.

Thanks. I also think I know what you mean, lol. Once or twice a week I've been combing and Denmen brushing on wash day, to avoid free-forming. Then I let it draw up on it's own. the rest of the time I just fluff it out adding water if needed. I guess it is my version of a wash and go/fro as well, as it only takes a few minutes to do.

So what had happened was. . .
After going to the Dominicans, I got a little heat happy and may have heat damaged my hair to the point of no return
I still want to get to WL, so I have zero desire to chop it all off right now. The plan is to have fun for the next year or two, get to WL, then either BC or transition.

Do you want to attempt treating it with a treatment like K-18 or Olaplex instead of cutting it off? It might be salvaged.

I did my daughter some passion twists yesterday. She found the style she wanted on the internet. I told her if she could find the hair for it I would do it. I’m a braider that provides the hair so I have a ton of different colors, textures and lengths. Lil mama found that hair. She wasn’t playing lol. Now I want some twists

I've been using Olaplex for months before this incident, and I used it on my first wash. The mid-part of my hair may be salvageable but the ends are done for LOL!!! I'll keep using Olaplex but I also want to keep using heat, so I'll just let my hair grow out for awhile.

Today is the 1 year anniversary of being relaxer-free. I'm conflicted. I don't know if I want to relax or continue to grow it out naturally. I love both my natural and relaxed hair, but they also both give me the blues lol. Or should I just relax once a year?
Now that I know I can stretch it for a year, but this involves looking crazy sometimes. I love the fullness and thickness of my natural hair, but I love the get up and go of my relaxed hair.

I have to spend more time delicately finger detangling my natural hair, but I spend less time on my relaxed hair. I also lose out on the fullness of my natural hair. I don't want to texlax, because I am not committed to trying to get the same texture every time. But I'm finally tired of the 2 textures. On the plus side, I know that I can use the same hair products on both my natural and relaxed hair. I know if I do relax, I might need 2 jars of Hawaiian Silky. It's also cheaper for me to get my hair done when it's relaxed.

But I don't get my hair done that often anyway unless it's to straighten it, and that's only 2x a year (Fall and Late Spring when it's warm enough to wear my hair out) And my head is itchy now  If I do relax my hair I'm not straightening it until it's time to get straightened anyway. Im leaning more towards relaxing my hair because I've been so tired lately, and my natural texture needs a little more loving care. Either way I go, if I relax, I'm gonna miss my natural hair. If I stay natural, I miss my relaxed hair. I am so glad I never clipped my relaxed ends, cause look at this crisis I'm having now :lachen:This might be an annual thing smh :look:

Decisions, decisions.

That’s a tough decision. I’m fully natural and I wear wash n gos 99% of the time. I have my routine down so I have wake up and go hair. I spend ~ 1 hour a week washing and styling it and then the rest of the week I just wake up and go. Sometimes I will spend so extra time to put it in a pony/puff if it’s getting too frizzy for my liking.
For me the wash n go learning curve was steep and it took me a long time to consistently get the results I like, but it was totally worth jt.

Good luck with your decision

Okay so hear me out. I wasn't trying to texlax, but I didn’t feel like washing my hair and waiting until a later date to relax :lachen:
I have no idea what it's gonna look like next year if/when I decide to negotiate my relaxer contract

Right now it's looking really luscious lol

:lachen:

Yay, welcome to the fold! Texlaxing is my sweet spot! My fine, poofy/cottony, 4b/a hair was not going for WNGs without some pushback.:giggle: Texlaxing allows me to keep volume and improved styling options for me. When I do straighten it, I'm not as worried about reversion. Have fun! :)

I hate my hair so much. I’m torn between wearing wigs or just giving up and relaxing it. Maybe I just need to cut it off and start over. I realize I feel like doing drastic changes when my hair is not in a bun but I’m having breakage with my bun now. Maybe some professionals done twists will be a happy medium? I need someone else to do this. I think I just need to fork over the money and let a professional do it.
