10-12 weeks is my sweet spot. Anything longer generates breakage and tangles no matter how careful and cautious I am.
Every 12-16 weeks.
I have stretched to 20 weeks and my hair cussed me all the way out about it. So 20 weeks is definitely the max...
i am a 7-9 week person, but i am going to try for 10-12. but i think i would end up using heat more trying to stretch longer.

I hear you. I just finished detangling my 12 weeks post hair and it turned on me. I had to put down the comb and try to use my fingers (which doesn't work very well on wet, fine, relaxed hair) to get the tangles out. Just awful. I think it took about an hour and a half and that was with leaving some tangles in to be dealt with on dry hair. This last stretch almost took me out and it was my usual 12 weeks. The tangles were indescribable. I think every strand in my head decided to tangle up. It took 3-4 hours to detangle the last two weeks. That was hell. So I can just imagine trying to go longer. #Shudders

OMG! That was me. I threw the comb down like a 2 year old and almost started to cry, but realized how ridiculous that would be. But I had to use my fingers and separate the hairs strand by stand, it was too much. I don't know if the extra tangling was from being 12 weeks post or from this new cheapie condish I was trying or because it is getting much longer, or because I didn't detangle for like a week or two. But if I have to deal with that madness routinely, I don't know what I'm going to do!
shortdub78 I considered what you said about the heat thing. I'm certain I could stretch way longer with heat but I wondered if it would even be worth it then?
