I'm actually up to relaxing every 15 weeks now! I can't believe it!

When I joined LHCF, I was relaxing every 4-5 weeks. As the years went by, I slowly increased by adding an extra week here and there.

My ultimate goal is to get to 16-18 weeks.

What about ya'll? :pulpdance:

Every 2 to 3 months. I'm content there. 3 is my breaking point. Anything after 4 I can't do anything with it and I don't like restrictions from my hair.

Well done Sunnie! I'm a faithful 10-12 week'er unless something is preventing me, i.e. sew-in weave. And even then, I don't ever plan on going beyond 16 wks. Ever.

When I first started I thought the only way to have long, healthy, relaxed hair was to go on long stretches (relax only 2-3 times per year). Now, I know better. And long stretches are not for me. :nono:

10-12 weeks is my sweet spot. Anything longer generates breakage and tangles no matter how careful and cautious I am.

I understand about not doing super duper long stretches. I just don't feel like it.

This stretch I'm on now is going so well, that I didn't see the need to relax at my usual 14 week mark. I like being flexible. If I'm having trouble with my next stretch, I'd easily relax at 12 weeks if I had to. :yep:

I'm the same - 10-12 weeks. Too much shedding and breakage otherwise and I dont like dealing with two textures.

12 weeks is perfect for me. Anything past that and I'm playing with fire... like right now stretching to 14 weeks. :look: It's just long enough to see a noticeable difference in length and thickness with each relaxer while still being able to "enjoy" my new growth for a while.

I relax every 16-18 weeks. Only because I am away at college n I get relaxers when I go back home. So it's been this way for about 3 yrs now.

Every 12-16 weeks.

I have stretched to 20 weeks and my hair cussed me all the way out about it. So 20 weeks is definitely the max...

i am a 7-9 week person, but i am going to try for 10-12. but i think i would end up using heat more trying to stretch longer.

Every 4-5 mo so I guess every 16-20 weeks. I usually relax 2-3x per year. Mostly out of sheer laziness. I do use heat on my ng after about 10 wks.

I finally relaxed my hair 2 weekends ago after not having a relaxer since August. So that was about 18 weeks. I couldn't have done it without the Dominican blowouts. That was my first big long stretch. Prior to that, I was somewhere between 10-12 weeks. Looking back, I'm not so sure if LONG stretching is really my thang. The two textures, the breakage etc. Part of me wanted to say it was worth it until things got crazy detangling my hair towards the last part of my stretch. I personally never had a problem retaining length at 10-12 week interval so I think I will stick with that.

LOL!!! I totally agree with this. My hair was like WTF!! Then it said I'm gone fix you! You ain't doing this no more!!

Can't do the poll. I visa about two to three times a year. I just started relaxing again this year. I did the first in June and the second in
December. I didn't relax for almost three years so the textures don't bother me.

This last stretch almost took me out and it was my usual 12 weeks. The tangles were indescribable. I think every strand in my head decided to tangle up. It took 3-4 hours to detangle the last two weeks. That was hell. So I can just imagine trying to go longer. #Shudders

I hear you. I just finished detangling my 12 weeks post hair and it turned on me. I had to put down the comb and try to use my fingers (which doesn't work very well on wet, fine, relaxed hair) to get the tangles out. Just awful. I think it took about an hour and a half and that was with leaving some tangles in to be dealt with on dry hair. Fluck this!

OMG! That was me. I threw the comb down like a 2 year old and almost started to cry, but realized how ridiculous that would be. But I had to use my fingers and separate the hairs strand by stand, it was too much. I don't know if the extra tangling was from being 12 weeks post or from this new cheapie condish I was trying or because it is getting much longer, or because I didn't detangle for like a week or two. But if I have to deal with that madness routinely, I don't know what I'm going to do!

I felt the same way! I actually started zoning out a little and then kept coming back and thinking "wow... I'm still at this." I'm not sure what caused my tangles either... and snipping wouldn't even help since the roots were tangled, not the ends of my hair.

To the ladies having issues with stretching due to detangling, I highly suggest the Remington Tangle Tamer (not to be confused with the "tangle teezer" or the "denmam tangle tamer" brush).

This thing changed my life!! I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but all I can say is... try it & you'll understand.

It's basically a huge, electronic wide toothed comb. Idk how it works, but it gently (and painlessly) detangles hair. It does all of the work for you & only removes shed hair. I can't live without mine.

Usually you can find it for less than $20 on Amazon.

ETA: Don't be deterred by the little YT girl on the cover of the package. I was. I was thinking *sucks teeth* this ish ain't gonna work in MY hair! :look: ... But it does. It works so well!!
