What do you use for porosity control on your relaxed hair? I have been using acv, but not sure if this is more for closing the cuticle than porosity. Or is that the same thing? your input is greatly appreciated.

I have been using ROUX Porosity control for a while now, and really don't know how I lived without. It's perfect when I'm stretching. It keeps moisture in my hair longer, and makes my hair so much manageable.

Roux Porosity for the win. My hair used to dry completely within thirty minutes and would be dry like straw. My hair was so bad, it started to get a reddish tint.

I RAN to Sally's to pick this up and after three treatments my hair went back to normal. I have been meaning to pick up some ACV though.

For you ladies that are using Roux. Are you using all 3 steps or just step 3? And how many weeks post are you waiting to use it.

I have been using Roux like once a month post DC and my hair love me! I used to have hair that needed to be moisturized twice a day now I can go every other day :)

Um - could someone tell me if someone with all natural, coily (4a/4b) hair should be using porosity type products and why or why not? Obviously I'm a newbie. IDareT'sHair chime in if you wish (LOL)!

I use Roux PC after every wash leaving on for a minute or so and it's been very good for my hair. I appreciate it's value over the length of time I've been using it (about six months).

I've use Roux Porosity Control as well. It's good stuff. Yesterday when I relaxed I used French Perm Stabalizer Plus. It serves the same purpose. I think it's pH is 2.5. All hair types can benefit from products that decreases porosity. The more damage the hair the more porous it is, this causes frizzy, dull, dry, brittle hair. If you can keep the porosity in check you'll have healthier, more managable hair whether you're relaxed or natural.

I just use step three, I love it so much I make sure I really put a lot on my ends since they are the oldest part and seen a lot of days.

Are you just using step 3? You have really nice hair btw!!

Thanks Cream Tee! I was going to buy all 3 steps. I was just at Sally's and didn't because they were out of step 3. Which from what you're telling me is the one to have. :)

Yeah personally I wouldn't bother with all three; no need to spend unnecessarily (says the recovering PJ ). From my research on this forum the last step is the most effective.

Right!!(Hi my name is Tri3nity and I haven't bought any hair products in hmmm, 4 days) I'm just taking it one day at a time!! :)

I have in My Arsenal:

1) Roux Porosity Control 4.1 ph
2) Nexxus Ensure Acidifying Conditioner 3.0 ph
3) French Perm Stablizer Plus 2.5 ph

I use rotate these 3 as my Final Conditioning Rinse after DC'ing with Heat to Close/Seal/Flatten the Cuticle that has been lifted during the DC'ing process.

I've recently start using FPS and I really, really like it.:yep: *thanks Kellum for the tip* I had this in my Stash for awhile, but always reached for Roux PC.:look:

*IMO: Overly porous hair includes the hair's inability to retain moisture. Dry, dull, overprocessed hair. The Cuticle are not 'flat' when hair is overly porous/damaged they are lifted, raised, which causes the hair to not to retain moisture.

Sealing the cuticle with a product that is acidifying or of low porosity, helps to close/seal/flatten the cuticle.

Where are you getting the FPS from? I have been unable to find it. That's a low ph. I'm sure it is great!

I use them both, but I normally pour the ACV on my hair while shampoo is still in it after a minute I rinse it out. I use Roux PC as a final rinse, I leave mine on for atleast 3 min. by then my hair extra soft and smooth.

What are the benefits of the acv with the shampoo?

Hey ladies,

I went to sally's to buy the porosity control and I didn't see a bottle with step 3 on it. Is it the one that is the conditioner and pretreatment? ALso there was a tiny bottle there, that was considerably smaller than the other two and much cheaper like 1.99, is that the step 3?

It Should Say: Porosity Control ph 4.5 Corrector & Conditioner. My Bottle is 15.2 fl. oz.:yep:

^^^^ That's the one I picked up today. I went for French Perm Stabilizer but the lady said the hair school had come in and bought it all.

ETA: this stuff 12.99 @ Sally's, I had seen it @`a BSS store(Asian) and it's 7.99 for the Roux shampoo & Conditioner. (15.2 oz)

Thanks "AChangedLife". And thanks to all the ladies for your patience cuz i'mma need you to be more patient. OK - I'm natural (currently in cornrows) but my regular regimen is to pre poo, poo (once), deep condish, then use leave in. Tell me, when exactly would I include a porosity control product and how? Thanks in advance for the wonderful advice you're going to give me.
