The Facts about Porosity?

Great thread!!! Also looking at the thread which has the ph database for products, I see why my hair loved certain products and hated others. BTW, I'm more of normal to high porosity.

My hair clearly became very low porosity while I was having a protein overload.
Having a shower filter and consistently using low ph products only didn't help in that occasion.
It was very high porosity when texturized.

I think medium porosity hair gets out of balance if there are consistent external factors that influence it.

this has always confused me. I 'think' my hair is high on the porosity side. but I have symptoms of both. Symptoms of Low Porosity Hair:

* Hair floats when you do the strand test (put a clean strand of hair in a cup of water and see if it floats or sinks) my hair can float for an hour or more or just part of it sinks (small part)
* Hair takes a while to get wet
* Hair takes long to dry 'no my dries quick'
* Water and oil just sit on the hair 'coconut oil just sits on my hair regardless what I do'
* Hard to moisturize (aka your hair stays dry)
* Hair is sensitive to protein 'my hair loves protein'
* Relaxers don't "take" 'even when I was bone straight there was a section of my hair and would always stay wavy.'
