I'll take advice from people w/o pics anytime but I must confess I love to see the pics and must of all the hair progress. Hair type is not a big deal for me, hair is hair and I don't even know my type. When I got here no too long ago, I was very concerned because my hair had a lot of breakage and the ladies in here were very helpfull they gave me their best advices, they questioned me and found my problem for me to fix it and they did answered everytime I needed it (thanks again). So I am very thankfull for all the caring people in here. I've never took hair pics in he past but started doing it and for my that's the only way I could really see how well my hair is doing. I looked for old pics (regular pics not just hair) I realized how fast my hair grows and if it was thicker or thiner before..I would never noticed that without comparing the pics.

me three! you're bun is hot!

Thanks ladies:

The bun is just a very low ponytail and I rolled it up and held it with two bobby pins. You can use a roller to get a fuller shape and then pull it to the sides to maket it wider. HTH

Ps: I will have to remove my pics I am getting too much heat, some ladies think I am in here just to show off.:( :( :ohwell: sad, sad, sad

Thanks, the thing is that if you hair looks ok, a couple of ladies think that you do not need help that you just want them to see the pics and that's no my intention. I had some issues with my hair when I got hair and I got help. Now I am just trying to learn more and more. if pics are gonna get in the middle of my learning experience I'll happly remove them.

Girl, do NOT remove your pictures just because people are hatin. Show that beautiful hair of yours! I wouldn't even waste the time or energy to pay attention to what they have to say.

Yes I would. I have and will continue to do so. The factors that I weigh when taking advice is the number of people that can relate and if it makes sense to me based on my experience. There are a few ladies that have beautiful heads of hair but after looking at their regimen, I know it could never work or agree with my hair so that's why I don't put too much stock into pics when looking for advice. I know what may work for one may not work for me and I'm at the stage where I know what type of products and techniques would work and what won't. It's definitely nice to see pics and it's an added bonus if I happen to see a pic attached to some advice that I'm considering but it's definitely not the deciding factor.

i will take advice from anyone if it is reasonable and they are 3c/4a.

and they can provide pictures to back it up any progress they claimed their suggestion has gave them :look:

I don't take advice from people
w/o pics...
or people that have pics that
aren't impressive....
you know what I'm talking about...
I ONLY take product tips/advice
from ladies APL and beyond...
why would I take advice from someone
whose hair is shorter than mines...
doesn't make sense...
may sound mean... or blunt...
or whatever... just being honest

I hear you, but I have a different opinion. There is one person on here who I have sent a private message to (I won't call her out, but she knows who she is). This young woman's hair has done a complete turn around, and her hair is a little shorter than mine. (Hers maybe neck length and I am a few inches past shoulder length-almost APL). Because she has pictures and has raved about certain products contributing to her hair's improvement, I went out and purchased the same products. (My crazy butt actually purchased liters of that mess:lol:) I will take advice from people with shorter hair if their hair is healthy, getting healthier, and/or growing. Something they are doing must be right.

I will take advise from anyone who is making good progress irrespective of length. Progress is what is important to me.

I however will also take advise from someone w/o pictures b/c before I do take ANY advise whether from someone with pics or not i will consider it before hand if it doesn't seem sensible I just wouldn't do it

I would take advice from anyone as long as the advice sounds logical but when it comes to buying products based on reviews I would only take into consideration those with like hair type, and visual images to back up their "product raves".

Ditto, its a shame how some people are NATURAL BORN HATERS!!!!

I take reasonable advice from anyone regardless of pics, but I love it when the advice is supplemented with pics. I sometimes answer questions although I only have the pic in my avatar. I have a fotki but it’s empty b/c I’ve been wearing protective styles or hair extensions since joining LHCF (I feel that it is pointless to post new pics when it’s not solely my hair).
I agree that newbies are a wee-bit neglected/ignored, but I’m no longer disappointed by the lack of responses because there are always a few other sisters willing to help  . I think that most don’t respond because of their time constraints and the repetitiveness of most questions. Before posting a question I always try to refer to the Newbie sticky or search option, but a lot of the threads in the newbie sticky have an error message when I click on them; the search option usually yields the desired response though. I’ve also noticed that most veterans are helpful if you pm them (well, I’ve only done it twice;) , but they both answered my questions in a very timely manner:) ).

I won't take advice from anyone without pics...hair advice that is. PERIOD. For all I know, you could be a troll...a rep for the company...anything. I like people to back things up, and the only way to do that is with a picture. So you got 2 inches in a month? Prove it! Otherwise, it's useless to even bring it up!

I also won't take advice from someone who doesn't have my same hair type. PERIOD. On the off chance that I would even consider it, it's done with a grain of salt.

ya know that's a great question, but i wanna add my 2 cents.
caution: just 'cause someone has pics of ear length to ankle length doesnt mean their advice or product rec's are worth anything. they could be a hater too:lol:

i rarely look at someone's hair when taking advice. i've disabled signatures since they'd gotten ridiculously big and just silly(look below. lol) and i'm not interested in scrolling through people's fotki's or pm'ing them for all 1200 of their passwords for each individual album:lol:

if you really think about it, dr.miracles, lustrasilk, pink oil moisturizer, and that wild growth foolishness all have Pictures of some woman, actually multiple women with gorgeous hair. And we all know most of their products are garbage. and their advice not worth a you know what.

"you should believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear."

wait that quote's not helping my side of the debate.

just, how i feel.
For me, the advice must be reasonable, I often research advice etc. Just because someone has pics of long hair doesnt mean i will take their advice. I have learnt the hard way- from baggy making me loose more hair to having delayed ovulation from popping about 5 pills a day.
All in all, whether you have pics or not i take advice when it makes sense and I feel more comfortable with you.
In the end do what its best for you

I would take advice from anyone as long as it sounds logical. It does not matter the length of their hair either, bc maybe they prefer that length..or maybe their hair has actually made a turn-around. I don't have an actual album myself, I plan to start one the 1st of the year. But I am open to anyone's advice, especially someone with my hair type.

If the advice sat well with me, I would. I mean if they said do this and it sounds outlandish...like...I don't know use relish as a conditioner on your hair, I'd be like get outta here.

But, if they said hon, I'd stay away from such and such conditioner because it has 'cones and they explain what a cone is and what it does, then I'm probably inclined to listen.

I take tips from women about men sometimes and they don't have balls so I don't see how that's much different.

I think its shallow to take advice from only people with pics. There many reasons I can think of as to why people have not posted pics. I would not just blindly follow someones advice on the basis of the pics. I personally think that some people use pics as a means of showing off rather than tracking progress. The reason I say this is that I have seen many newbies post asking for advice and they are virtually IGNORED by some of the veterans on here (with nice pics). Just my observation.

I agree, i think a of lot questions asked by newbies, or people that dont post that much, dont get answered. I also agree with the braggs (will probably bragg :lachen:when i have BSL-a goal have never reached).
Because some with butt length comes and shout about a product does not mean it best, in fact the product may not have been what got them in the first instance, it may just be a recent discovery.
In my opinion you dont even know if the the person with ear length in picture A, is the same with waist length in picture b.
My own opinion is that if advice is sound and reasonable pics or no pics, I can give it a try.

To be truthful, I only end up taking advice from persons whose hair I have seen. That's just how it has happened for me. If there's a particular technique I'd like to try, I only try it if it makes sense, firstly and if the person referring it has already tried it and I can see what it has done for them or if they can refer me to someone else for whom the technique has worked. I guess I pay more attention if I can see pics.

If you don't have a pic, but your advice sounds sincere like it would work, I don't mind. If you don't have my hair type and its about something other than gel or airdrying (or something else that would obviously not work the same for me as you) I don't mind either.

But if you're notorious for giving bad advice, or if your pics show something I don't want (i.e chewed up or scraggly ends) I usually just keep scrolling.

I skipped this thread the first time around on purpose. I do not have a picture of myself online, nor will I put one because of my job. Putting a little notice or a copyright line will not prevent someone from taking your pictures and doing what they will with them. What I find interesting, and rather ironic, is that people say they won't take advice from people without pictures, but this is the Internet - you have absolutely no guarentee that the pictures are real. Additionally, there are plenty of ladies who do have pictures that are not yet admirable, yet someone like LaFlaca (read up a bit) who has beautiful hair gets crap from others because she has beautiful hair and pictures.

I take advice that seems sound a reasonable and have no objection to experimenting. I give advice when the issue at hand is one with which I have experience and can ad something positive and constructive.

It's nice to see pictures, but not necessary. The advice I take has nothing to do with the pictures because I rarely take time to find passwords and spend time looking at fotki. I hope we all one day have beautiful flowing locks; how we get to that point will be completely individual.

It depends. I look at join dates and hair type and what they post and try to make an educated guess as to whether the information this person has is applicable to me. Natural- Permed or Texlaxed. I can get some good infor from all types. BUT- there are some people who join boards just for the opportunity to be divisive. So no pictures- no history of concrete facts-Im a
little hesitant. I realize though that I could not have put my Fotki up without my daughters help. I am computer challenged and I understand that that could be an issue too. I worry about people who come to a board that is supportive and don't share their failures and successes. JMHO

I am more likely to seek advice from someone with pics. (of healthy hair) But I won't refuse advice from someone without pics.

I've taken advice from many women on this board...and the advice has been very good. I also do my own research once I get the advice too. Plus although I may see pics...I don't know exactly if it is their real hair or a weave...:perplexed...especially if it's a good weave! I can't tell the difference anyway...:nono:

ITA.
There are quite a few members here that don't have any kind of pics but I'll listen very closely when and if they have something to say about hair b/c usually it makes alot of sense to me:yep:
