October 2016: Hits & Misses

Hit: Copying my stylist's techniques for today's wash and go.

Hit: Finally placing every product I have (3 years worth of buying) in one place and beginning to organize them (keepers, donations, still trialing, etc.)

Miss: The smell of most Shea Moisture products. It was HARD donating any products -- except for the poor-smelling ones, most of which were Shea Moisture products. :nono:

ETA:
Hit: Finding 15 products off the rip to donate. Some because of smell. Some because they don't work for my hair. Some because I have something similar that works better. I need to try again and be a little stricter in terms of finding more to donate.

Retired Hit:
SM purification mask. I had one last jar. I will miss having this in my stash :cry3: but as my hair gets longer, I can only get 1 use per jar and since Shea Moisture busy breaking down walls :rolleyes:, there won't be any BOGO free sales anytime soon for me to restock. Hoping that the Soultanicals detox mask performs similarly.

Breaking walls and recipes. Nothing will ever be like the original gray gritty one that smelled like bananas and was spectacular. I went to Marshall's a few days ago and saw it there, that's straight conditioner. That's not purifying anything.

On The Fence:
MyHoneyChild's Type4 Hair Crème:look: (will experiment with this jar) Will use it on my ends.

I love this on dry hair. Sometimes on damp (85-90% dry) hair. I don't care for it on wet hair. It works well on my stretched styles and buns. I also like it on my nape, edges, and ends. I also use it on dry hair while installing braid extensions. My hair is always soft and pliable after I remove my box braids.

@MilkChocolateOne
Thanks for your review.:goodpost:

I was some-what confused by the Heavy Consistency? I will try to finish up this jar using a variety of ways.:look:

I just 'swapped' the b/up I had with another poster.:eek:

When I saw the new crap, I was pissed. And then for SM to try and tell us that it hadn't changed?!? You tried it Shea Moisture. They got one more time to pull that mess again.

Hits: Plain old Apple cider vinegar :love2: I did a rinse this morning and it significantly helped correct my mushy over conditioned hair! :meme: I just wish it wasn't so stinky lol

Miss: Naturellegrow Sweet Plantain leave in conditioner. I wanted to like this product so badly because I'm in love with her brand :cry: but this just caused my hair to become frizzy and gross :oops: it would probably be nice for someone with low porosity hair.

I have this but I haven't used it yet. I have used the Hibiscus and Honey leave-in and love that one a lot. I may pull that one out next to use to see how my hair likes that one. I do love her DCs quite a bit as well.

On The Fence:

Bel Nouvo Avocado and Shea Hair Milk - this is just okay for me so I won't be adding it to my repurchase list. It felt good going on but it does not keep my hair soft for very long. I need something that will hold moisture in my hair for longer than 3-4 hours and the Terrene Fusions Mango Shea Cocoa Hair Lotion is doing great and much better at achieving that goal.

This was a miss for me as well. It didn't really mouisturise my hair. I eventually ended up giving it away.

Miss: Missing my usual Friday wash day and having to do it Sunday, today.
Miss: Drinking at a neighbors house after washing, but not styling my hair. (It was an adult birthday party dangit!)
Miss: Styling my hair while drunk.
Miss: Asking Hubby to help.
Miss: My toddler running around me, grabbing everything he found interesting (my styler, water bottle, towel, etc)

What usually takes two hours took four. Meanwhile Hubby peeked in the bathroom and whined about not having my attention. He attempted to detangle and retwist one twist before giving up then went back to whining.

Hit: My neighbor giving me a gallon of the daiquiri to bring home.
Hit: Me continuing to drink while styling.
Hit: I'm going to sleep so good tonight.
Hit: I'm still drinking as I type this post. Amen.

Sounds like a good Sunday to me.

I'm so mad I bought a 16oz :hot: she sent two 8oz bottles so I might pass the unopened bottle off to my cousin or something. And that's how I feel about her line too lol so I might stick with only buying her deep conditioners.

Her spritzers come in handy when I want my hair to smell good going out or when I'm in braids, but that's about it.
@mostamaziing That LI was HG at my house until this spring. For some reason it made our hair soft but dull and that never happened before. We used up the last 16oz bottle we had opened and I'll be sending the other 2 bottles in my stash to my nieces in Trinidad. When it first debuted I purchased 6 16oz bottles after the one I initially purchased.

@Aggie
This is a seasonal product at my house. It works best in warmer weather for us. During the colder months it just sits on our hair.
