I think I might just stop by Sally's on Wednesday, just to get some new stuff to try out for this thread!

*sings*I'm goin' back to Sally's....Sally's...Sally's...I'm goin' back to Sally's (hmmmph, I don't think so)
LOL :lachen: :lachen: That was sooo funny!!

Well, I haven't posted in the last few months and I am DETERMINED not to buy any more products in November, so I guess it's safe to post here, even though it's a little early. So this is a little long.

HITS:

Aveda DR - the whole line
Aveda Sap Moss - the whole line, but especially the Nourishing Concentrate
Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
Aveda Elixir (noticing a trend here? )
returning to Mizani Lye relaxer after being underprocessed with Vitale
Aquasana water filter
Frederic Fekkai ACV rinse
PhytoSpecific Integral Hair care (it's a spray-on leave-in)
Duckbill clips for rollersetting instead of the itty bitty clips the Dominicans can handle, but I can't.

HUGE HIT - Mason Pearson tail comb for sectioning during roller sets. It glides through my hair. I bring it to the salon for them to use on me because it puts their plastic combs to shame.

MISSES:

Herbal Essences everything, from Hello Hydration on. Worked once, then nothing.

The entire line of Bumble and Bumble's Damage Therapy. Yes, dumbarse me bought everything - almost $200  , and NOTHING worked. Anyone want to take this crap off my hands, PM me. I hate looking at that stuff in my cabinet. I am keeping the masque for the macherieamour hot-towel pre-poo trick, but everything else has got to go.

Bumble and Bumble shine spray. Too much alcohol.

ON THE FENCE

Frederic Fekkai Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner. I like the Aveda Sap Moss better for moisture, but this stuff isn't bad. I'll probably use it up but not repurchase.

Frederic Fekkai glossing cream and shine spray. I got samples of these from Sephora. The spray has too much alcohol like the Bumble and Bumble spray, though it smells good. The cream has too many cones for my taste.

HIT:
Garnier Fruitis Shampoo and Conditioner is a definite hit...the smell is heavenly
Organic Roots hair mayo is also a hit..hair was super soft

MISS: Organic Roots Lock and Twist Gel - it made my hair crunchy and hard and possibly itchy

ONDAFENCE: Infusium 23 Leave In - Only because my scalp is itching but I'm not sure if it's from the Lock and Twist Gel or from this one. I will retry this again just to be sure but if it's not the culprit then me likes..me likes

Ok, I've confirmed it...it was the ORS Lock and Twist gell that made my hair itchy and super crunchy...so it's a definite MISSS

Infusium 23 gets a big HIT from now now.

You know Lynnie, I've ordered stuff online before that sat at a shipping warehouse for days. I have no idea why companies do that, but it's ridiculous. And I'm kind of glad I didn't order my Gold N' Hot tabletop dryer from that eBay vendor...something about their site put me off.:look: But anyways, good luck with your purchase! If I had the storage space, I'd totally get a standing dryer.

Now, getting back to the topic: I plan to get some of that Elasta QP DPR-11 I've been hearing so much about. I'll post my results here.

Okay, it's officially November! Anyway, I used the whole Aveda DR line this morning, and I'm in love! This line takes it to the next level. I got lots of strength, some softness, no breakage, and much less shedding. It's a definite HIT.

 Dang - how can we have 4 pages of Hits/Missess and it is not even NOON (EST) on November 1st yet?

Girl, most of the posts so far have been about products we want to try, LOL. I guess that's even worse!

Miss: African Pride Miracle Gro. It's petrolatum/mineral oil based and contains big chunks of rosemary, tree bark, or whatever...it just sits on the hair and make it look oily/dirty.

This product is one of the reasons why I turned to LHCF! It made my hair limp, scalp clogged, and caused so many flakes, you'd think there was a snowfall in my hair every day. And I used this stuff for YEARS.
In Cathy Howse's book, she talks about the misconception with hair grease and hair growth. To me this product is exactly like Madame Walker's medicated hair grease. What made the hair grow was the "medicated" ingredients and not the grease. The same thing with APMG. The herbs in it did help my hair grow, but the grease killed the health of the hair.

Back to Hits & Misses....

Revisited -
Blowdrying: I bought the Revlon Ceramic Ionic blowdryer, so we'll see how that goes
UBH leave in conditioner: may actually help stop my shedding.

Re: the Elasta DPR-11 I was scowring the net trying to find the ingredient and I found this
The ingredients are: Chamomille, Nettle, Balm Mint Leaf Oil, Coltsfoot Extract, Horse Chestnut Extract, Sage Leaf Extract, Rosemary Extract, Petroleum, Cetyel Alcohol, Cetromonium Chloride, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Laurus Nobblis Oil, Orange Oil, Neroli Oil, Black Currant Seed Oil.

If this is the correct and current ingredients, does the petroleum get in the way of it actually moisturing or does it just sit on top of your hair?

Hits:
Mebeco Shower Comb - love it
Lustrasilk Cholesterol - The Shea Butter/Mango and the Tree Tree both did wonder for my hair
Elucence MB Shampoo and Conditioner
Oyin Shine and Define
QB Sidr Tree

Miss:
Smooth 'N Shine Leave In Treatment - horrible

Not at all, your hair will feel so moisturized it ridiculous. Another thing, I always tell people don't use this before a relaxer (no less than 7 days before relaxer) because it will straighten your new growth and you're not going to be able to see the line of demarcation.

I bought a small bottle of the Keracare Humecto everyone seems to love. I figured I'd give it a shot. If I don't like it on its own, I'll just mix it up with my Lustrasilk Cholesterol or Elucence cons. Or I may use it as a leave-in. I'm going to try it tonight (along with my new hard bonnet dryer)- I'll report back later.

Hit: Qhemet Biologics Amla & Olive Oil Heavy Cream

A little goes a long way! Leaves my hair soft and shiny and not feeling greasy and weighed down!

Hits: B&b Castor oil lotion
African Royale Mom moisturizer

Misses: Wondergrow shea soft leave in conditioner- hated it, too many cones but smells great, like sprees

Air-drying in four pony-tails.

I'm not going to be trying any new products soon... But I'm headed to Sally's for that Proclaim gift set!!

Hits:
Redken Extreme Anti-Snap leave in conditioner
This product has almost elimanated knots in my hair

John Frieda Frizz Ease
Very helpful in lessening the frizz on rainy days

Misses:
NONE!

I have nothing but since it's Nov 1 I felt I must come in and look to see what's going on. :)

hits:
Greasing my scalp using liquid+grease technique(makes my new growth so soft and purty)
B&B Growth Serum+Sulfur8 light
Grandma's pine tar grease (ooooh aaaah)
Nexxus Therrape Shampoo
Elasta QP DRR-11(:eek:why does this work so well?!...just sinful)
Fantasia IC Moisturizing Creme(Who knew:ohwell:)
Bone Marrow Conditioner (this stuff is so right it's gotta be wrong)
