spicypeppermint, welcome to the hair club LOL j/k I'm so used to the stares and people looking at my hair to see if its a weave I've grown to accept it. When I ride the train or bus to work I always bring a scrunchie with me and put my hair in a ponytail. I've read too many horror stories about people cutting other women's hair or putting bubble gum in hair out of spite.
BTW I tend to stare at other BW's hair, too. I can't help it! Especially if its long and healthy. I'm definitely not hating, just admiring.

Get it girl....
Let's face it....even though black people still watch Oprah on occasion, her main following is caucasian. So I wasn't surprised that after Chris Rock got on the Oprah show acting as if Black women couldn't grow hair, that I'd get questions and glances from people checking whether or not I had a weave when I walked in to work a few days later. I felt just like you but how could I blame them? After all, everyone and their grandmother witnessed a black man pretty much insinuate that black women can't grow long hair and if you do see one of us with length then it's 1) most likey a weave or 2) she's rich, wealthy or as Chris said, she has "Oprah" money!
Now I just use it as an educational moment and when they say crazy things like "wow, that's a really nice front lace"
I just say something like," Nope it just grows right out of my scalp. Just check out longhaircareforum.com and it'll all make sense.....have a great day." and then I just roll out.
