Natural and the Shock Effect

CONGRATS ON REACHING APL!!

And yes, I love the shock effect! My family members will be shocked to see my hair this Christmas I think, because they have not seen my hair straight in person since 2002!!

i love it and hate it
i wore my hair straightened two weeks ago, on that day my coworkers decided they owned my head and could come up every few hours to check for tracks like the first time wasnt good enough. and they may have missed

and the one who werent brave enough to check would start flipping their weaves as soon as they see me walking by, lol:grin:.

Congrats Country Girl ...praying for the same by end of December

Yep. I love it. My hair shrinks up to about neck length so folks are shocked when they see that's its close to bra-strap straight.

I'm so with you on that.

When dry my hair shrinks up to between ear length and chin length.

When wet it's bra strap.

Folks are like "wait, what just happened here". And I always say "best of both worlds, baby, best of both worlds".

Not fair!!! You have that cute "Joan Clayton" (Girlfriends)/Tracee Ellis Ross thing going on.

Love the hair.

That's great, Countrygal.

thats exactly why I haven't straightened my hair since the start of my journey.

Hmm...I haven't straightened my hair in almost two years and I'm thinking of waiting another year...simply because I think I will be disappointed with my length. :ohwell:

This thread made me flat iron my hair last night. I tried to take pics but they just wouldnt come out right. I'm full shoulder lenght tho, about 3 or so inches from APL. I dont know if I will make apl by the end of the year, but I should have it by my nappiversary in feb. Now I want to trim.

I totally know what you mean. I flat ironed my hair awhile back and was shocked to find that I had reached my goal of shoulder length. It is normally at ear lenght in it's natural state.

Congrats at reaching APL! That's my next goal  .

You go, girl! We're so proud of you for your success and believe me, you have been one of my major natural hair inspirations on this board. Thanks for sharing your story (but pics would have been nice!).
