My UPA Clip - I'm in LOVE

WHEW!!!!!! this is a long thread & I've read every post but no one has asked (unless I missed it) if the actual clip is "gentle" in your hair. I stopped wearing barrettes with metal clasps long ago as they would break & tear my fragile, baby-fine hair with a true vengence...I LOVE the look of the UPA pony, so pretty & natural, but is it safe to wear???? I replaced all my cheap Goody-type hair accessories with the stress-free, plastic kinds (a la tenderheaded.com)...Maybe Michelle can "customize" a pony with a plastic or coated-metal clip???

As we discussed on the telephone gogo, the metal clips are covered with the hair so no metal will touch and cut your hair.

Hi,

I've been wearing the UPA clips for more than two months and my hair is healthier tha ever. I don't have any problems with breakage or snagging at all because the metal is covered with hair.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you protect your ends in the UPA? I'm thinking about getting one either from Michelle or phonyponies.com:)

I don't know about those other ponys but with my UPA, since your hair is surrounded with hair you can baggie it. I just moisturize and seal my ends really well with an oil and put it in the tail. they don't dry out at all. When my hair gets longer I prolly will do the baggie.

Thank you!

Girl, I wonder where these have been all my life! I did Spin and Taekwondo today and my hair still looks good to day I did all that! I have the wet and wavy on today, I tucked it under into a bun. I geled, my hair down... no problem now I'm going to do a co-wash and slap it back on! LOL I wash and condition them too after a hard sweaty workout.

Saves time and trouble! I can't beat that

Oh okay thanks:p

I did it! :yay: After reading every post I could find on the UPA Clip I couldn't resist. I ordered the Human Hair Yaki 1B. I had quite a few questions and Michelle and AtlantaJJ gave me all the assistance I needed. I'll make sure to post pics.

I purchased a UPA Clip several weeks ago. At the time, I had about three more inches of split ends (just below shoulder length). I had that cut off and I really hate the hair cut and the length. So, I am wearing protective styles like crazy. I am wearing my UPA Clip. It is very natural looking. The barrettes are very nice.

I'm going to try and attach a few pictures. I apologize for the plain barrette.

That is such a good match!! You go girl, I see she offers smaller barrette sizes!

The UPA is a life saver no doubt and they are built with quality... I have put mine through the workout ringer!

Thanks for posting!

Believe it or not, I managed to BREAK mine last week. I broke one of the metal clasps while trying to change barettes. I am so mad at myself for doing that!

I'm sorry to hear about you breaking yours. I keep my hair in a baggie underneath and sometimes it's a fight to get it all in the clip. I'm scared I'm gonna break mine too. I think I'm gonna order another one just to be on the safe side.

Yeah, I've just realized that I'm far too clumsy for high-end hairpieces, LOL. I'm going to get a few cheap drawstring ponies and a phony bun and keep it movin'. I do recommend the UPA clips, though! Just be a little more careful with it than I was.

I did exactly the same thing! So disappointed.:(

rainy I am loving your UPA clip and barrette. Its a good match!

I have had my UPA clip in my hair since October and its helps me out a lot. Im going to relax my hair soon so I will look at my ends to see if they are healthier.

I broke one of the barrettes too while I was trying to change it :ohwell: .

whats the full name of this clip? i'm searching for this on on ebay.co.uk and its not returnming any results.

You guys aren't worried about damage from the metal plates that clip the upa around your own ponytail? It seems like snapping those metal pieces onto your own hair and the weight of the upa combined would stress the hair. Just curious.

I didn't break the barrette...I broke the actual clip, with the hair on it!

The metal clasps do not touch your own hair. The hair is sewn around the clasp so that it completely covers the metal. Your own ponytail is "sandwiched", so to speak, between the hair-covered clasps. It's a very cool and hair friendly design.

I purchased mine on Ebay, but since then the manufacturer has created a website http://www.laceflair.com/

I am on her email list. She just sent an email that shows she's created ponies which fit in semi-round barettes. I like the new design. The site hasn't been updated to reflect the second option.

I haven't broken mine, but I will be careful when changing barettes.

I believe the return policy is 7 days. I haven't checked her website to see if that policy remains, but that's what I recall from the Ebay ad.

Did you email Michelle? She may be willing to fix it for little or no cost. It doesn't hurt to ask especially since the UPA clip isn't cheap.

I got this e-mail too and I'm wondering if this new design will make things easier. It looks like it might be better.

Wow, really? I figured that since it was "user error" that I couldn't do that, LOL. I managed to break a tiny piece off of the "top" metal clasp, if that makes sense. Still don't know how I did that!

No time limit on the functionality of the UPA Clip. If it breaks a year from now, we will fix it free.
