Michelle can make them in any type of hair you like, she has a selection, I used the Yaky because it looks just like relaxed hair. She can do any type of hair. She even told me you can find hair you like and send it to her an she can make one with that hair. I'm thinking of getting some virgin Remy hair to use for my dress up styles. These things are the absolute best. you can PM her, I have to look back to see what it is, or you can go to Ebay to her auction place and send her a mesage there..

I worked out in mine!! Wow, it was sooooo cool, no problems, tight as my own hair.. I love it !!

what's a upa clip? is it a phony pony? i thought that was your real hair!

That's the beauty of the thing, I gave it the ultimate test yesterday. My treadmill class, that thang wasn't going anywhere!! I was fully confident. What a God send. Some girls wear their baggies under the clip! I'm going to change my picture out soon with my clip on. This is the answer for letting my hair rest in protective style for 1 year. I'm getting another one made with curly hair too.

Go Michelle!

AtlantaJJ, you can go on and send the short bus to pick me up b/c I opened the thread to see the "UPA Clip" and I thought you were talking about the pretty clip that was on your hair.

I was curious if it was a special kind of clip (hair jewelry) and was going to comment that although the clip was pretty (I was scrolling down and looking at each of your pics), I really liked your beautiful ponytail too. :) .........Yeah, go on and send that bus for me b/c I didn't know that wasn't your hair until I read the rest of the posts.

It looks really good on you girl and you are rocking it!!

Girl you ain't on no short bus, that means the UPA works!! I am going to wear mine until my hair looks like YOURS!! Beautiful hair :D, I want it too. Going to workout now... Thanks for brightening my morning!! :-) ;)

AtlantaJJ,

seeing your pics have me very interested in a UPA Clip. How long is your natural hair? Is it stuffed "inside" the ponytail? Were you comfortable about the color/thickness choice you made without seeing it firsthand? thats my fear. paying so much and it being the wrong one. BTW- your hair looks amazing! How did you get your natural hair slicked back so smooth/tight? How many weeks post relaxer are you? sorry for all the questions:grin:

Thats it! I'm sold!!
When I saw the $18, I was about to say "Darn that shipping is expensive!!" and talk myself out of it. Now I see where you can put in your zip code and get an estimate. Will only cost about 4 bucks!
Now I was about to use my money to maintain my work license....but buying the clip instead just makes more sense...:look:
I have until December to do the license thing anyways...but I neeeeed the UPA clip NOW!!

Very beautiful Janet it so natural...I was looking more at your hair clip than your pony very realistic....I hope she can get my color ...I always have a hard time finding usually #8 ( I believe).... Simply gorgeous:)

They look that convincing in real-life too.

My natural hair is about 5 inches in the back, a little longer on the top and sides, I just came out of braids so I don't have real cut, I'm just going to wear protective styles like the UPA clip for about a year until I get enough length to even it out. My clip is totally comfortable, I did two treadmill classes within the past 24 hours and I swear when you put it on correctly, it feels just like your own hair!! The trick is securing it properly, and it takes a couple of tries in front of the mirror to get it down pat. I also had to figure out how to change the barrettes out and now I got that down pat too.

Michelle had me to send her a picture of my natural hair and asked me what length I wanted and she matched me up to a T. She has some kind of science going on over there!! lol

My hair is textlaxed and very nappy in the front, I use olive oil, and castor oil to do most of my slicking. I swear since I've been taking MSM my edges are easier to smooth down. Today after the workout I did con wash, and I washed and conditioned my pony. It washed just like my hair, dried it and bumped the ends with the curling iron. I'm ready to hit the streets again in no time flat (looking cute). I'm gong to start braiding my UPA hair before I workout so that it doesn't tangle...just like I would my hair if it were that long. (which it will be one day!!)

I hate to sound like a commercial, but this clip has saved me grief and anguish since I have come out of my braids. Read back on my first few posts, I just joined LHCF last month and was in a hair panic!! LOL The advice I have received along with my UPA - the best solution I could ask for.
Thank you!!!

That looks so beautiful and natural!!!! And OT, but you are gorgeous! :)

Thank you for the complement dearheart!! I turned 44 this summer so when I get complements, it does my heart good!!! You are quite the cutie-pie yourself!;)

I have to tell u that Michelle is top class. I got 2 UPA clips from her, but forgot to tell her which barette I wanted to go with them. She sent me 2 nice ones and an extra one for free as a gift. I will be getting more in the future. Right now my nape is still too short to pull it off.:ohwell:

You are so right, she is awesome. I can't wait to see her new barettes!! She's getting more styles to add to her line!!

JJ!! You just saved me from my hair troubles. I just took out my braids last week and was having I hard time dealing with my hair. I am completely natural now with about 5 inches of growth. I did not know how to style my hair since it is so short. But now I know :) I will be using the UPA for about a yr and hopefully I will be able to rock a natural style by then.

P.S. I was going to go back to braids but I had a bad eaxperience with taking my braids out that I refuse to get any more put back in. It took a long time to remove, Anyway, what do you use to straighten your hair?

It looks great on you! THis is a really nice accessory. I think it would work out great for members who are on the C & G method too. That way you can have a style after you take out your braids/weave and before you put in a relaxer etc...fake it 'till you make it right??? I'm getting one of these soon, it's on my to buy list.

 That looks really good on you...Now i feel bad about my cheap drawstring pony  I better treat myself to one of those for my NOV hair budget.

 I just typed a book and lost it by hitting the back key accidently!

I am wearing a light relaxer because I workout a lot and sweat. I can't use heat to straighten my hair because it reverts as soon as I have a good workout. There are a lot of natural heads on the LHCF that can give you some ideas. I have a really good flat iron that works, but when I workout my hair would revert back. Michelle offers the UPA with curly afro hair so perhaps you could get that texture which would better match with your hair.

Let us know how this turns out for you and be sure to post pictures!!!

Girl I heard THAT with the hair budget thing...geeze I think I'm over until 2007! But one more tiny splurge won't hurt ya (that's what I tell myself)!

One good thing I'm doing that I learned on the board is that I'm using honey, olive oil, and jojoba oils in my old conditoners and shampoos until use them all up to enhance their quality. Then I'm going to get some Elucence or Keracare...that's definately in 2007. I have to clear out my product grave yard first! LOL :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

I am seriously considering Solia-ing the crap outta my hair an ploppin one of them bad boys on my head!!! JJ you look nice! Michelle's product looks nice.

oops. I didnt think the pictures were going to be that big. I took them with my camera phone. Ill have to straighten my hair tomorrow so it will be a little bit more straighter. But I really like the UPA clip. I think in going to wear it until December so I can reduce breakage.

Your clip looks marvouls girl, you have such excellent taste:lol: !! Lets do our own personal, keep your hair up till Christmass challenge or something like that. That's what I'm planning to do, hide my head till Christmas or longer...

I'm taking Taekwondo lessons twice per week and running at least 2 days per week so I'm going to be doing a lot of con-washes and putting my UPA right back on, I can wait to see the new barrettes!!

OHHH LOOKIN GR8! sooo realistic!

Do you baggie with the UPA clip JJ?

This weekend, I switched the hair out of one of my clips. It wasn't shiny enough, if you believe that... :look: It's good to know I can change the hair out if I change my hair color or style.

Michelle will have you send a picture of your hair and explain how to put your own hair into the UPA. You could reach her through PM or through Ebay contact seller. There are several ladies that have natural hair that wear them, you could do a seach on UPA clip and natural hair. There a lady on this thread with her afro UPA in her avatar...

Here's the link to her current Ebay auction:

For the exception of the str8, the rest looks like baby doll hair:ohwell: Now I really like yours! But I don't like the idea of applying heat to my hair to achieve your level of lovelyness!

I will send her a pm and ask if she has kinkier hair?

Again, I think her product is nice for str8 hair...Not exactly thrilled with the curly wet ponytails, but everythang ain't for everybody!

You look really nice JJ

Its a deal! Its getting really cold here so I need to protect my ends. In golf class (its a stupid class requirement :ohwell: ) my hair blows all over the place, so the UPA clip will definately help me out. Im going to wash my hair once a week and put my UPA clip right back on.
