My friend said she's gonna cut my hair off

Yep. This reminds me back in Jr High in '80s and early '90s when girls with long hair who dared wear it out would would get "jumped" by a group of jealous balding hoes and get their hair cut off. SMDH. I never wore my hair out until I got to high school.

There are some crazy, psycho, ill people out there. I would watch my back.

I have a friend who went thru the same thing when she was a teen. She always got picked on because of complexion and long hair and always had to fight. So one day she got reeeeaallllll pissed when a girl picked a fight with her and she grabbed her by the legs and dragged her down the sidewalk from end to end. She later got expelled.

And what is messed up is that your friend could go to the principal or whomever about these chicks bothering her and they'd do nothing...and when she retaliates they want to expel her. I bet no one bothered her after that! The ends sometimes justify the means.

I stay away from people who can't be happy for me. Even if it's said jokingly, they still get the side eye from me.

It's funny because I always see posts here to the tune of "oh, that btch, she's so pretty, don't you just hate her"...it's the same thing to me.

This is a new day and age that we live in.

People that you think are your friends could turn into your enemy when it comes to envy.

I would leave her alone.

Her true colors are showing.

I don't know about other ethnicities of women and how they do in their community...

...but in our community, Im'ma need sisters to stop the hate just because another sister has hair that is long and healthy.

And what trips me out is when girls used to fight back in grade school and highschool cause a girl had long hair just like you mentioned.

Even shoulder length hair is considered to be sooooooo long!

I'm seeing (experiencing) this more and more and more! I've never had to deal with that as a kid. (Or I was just naive or unaware.) But as an adult, women can show jealousy over anything...women who you are close enough to have considered your friend, but then those true colors come out like a darkened rainbow:down:

So I'm out with a friend today and we're talking about shoes in the shoe section of the store, buying shoes. Suddenly she randomly blurts out "mi envy yuh hair, mi ah go cut it off" while staring at my hair. She was very monotone while saying that, she wasn't smiling nor laughing. I could not respond. I was mortified. I know maybe I should have responded but I didn't know how. I was mortified. Now I'm giving her the side eye. I ignored the comment and continued talking about shoes.

What say you?

ETA: this isn't the first time. She's also told me me "I envy you for your hair" while watching me detangle over at her house.

Is you crazy girl! lol. I hope you didn't leave any shed hair at her house! She may put roots on your rass!

I dunno, i think she was just kidding. I much prefer when the person is real about their envy instead of the 'you look better with short hair' or 'this hair doesn't suit you' sentiments people throw around. I think it was a joke, I mean who really cuts off someone's hair??

She might be serious :look:

IDK when I was in middle school I was sitting next to this girl who didn't like the girl sitting in front of her and one day she was like "imma cut her hair" and I just ignored her thinking she was just saying that; Until she all of a sudden pulled out some scissors and cut a big chunk of the other girls out. I was soo shocked all I could do was stare. The girl turned around and cussed her out so bad they both got suspended.

Usually the girls targeted were either "lightskinded", mixed (or who they thought were mixed :look:) or happened to be dark but had the nerve to have "good hair" that's also long to add insult to injury. Anything longer than shoulder length was a target. Either they think its fake and they try to pull the weave out (back when weaves were taboo) or they think you think you're better than everyone else...

If they think their "man" is looking at her, its over.

OP you keep saying how uncomfortable you are. Cut your losses and move on. Pun intended.

It's one thing for her to wish she had hair like you but now she is threatening to physically do something about her feelings. Joke or no joke, this is only the beginning for you.

Hmmmm......such hatred, i don't even want to try and figure out whether or nor she's lying. I would honestly drop her company like hot bread.

If it is she always says stuff she doesn't mean....or so she says, then can anything she says be trusted.....smdh. Some women i tell you!!

Jealousy is a disease...she needs to get well.......Better yet, you need a better friend.....Its just some things you don't joke about...Hair is towards the top of that list...

So I told her about it and she said she didn't mean it and she says alot of things she doesn't mean, she doesn't envy me and she's happy that my hair is long.

Some jokes ain't jokes. You don't play with a woman's hair. She's said that mess more than once. She means it. You wants you to have your guard down. She tries anything, **** her up.:clubu: In fact, if she comes closer than a 3 feet radius, you should karate chop her in the throat just because.

Years ago a member of LHC talked about what happened with her mom as a new bride and her new SIL. One day the SIL said "let me help you brush your waistlength hair". The hag whipped out scissors and cut her hair above the shoulders!!! The new bride was so hurt but to keep the peace did nothing - but she never re-grew her hair!

People of all races can get some serious envy going! Be on guard!!!

She good, cause it would not have ended well for her if she did that to me.:nono:

If I had with friend with hair I really liked I would ask for some tips, not threaten to cut it. Like anything in life you want you ask those that have attained it if they can offer suggestions.

Giiirl, hide ya Wen, hide ya African Pride...they baldin' everybody out there!

Good lord; makes me want to watch my back at the gym locker room now and my hair isn't even that long...

I don't know what to say about this one. I'd be inclined to think it was just a joke since you two have been friends for so long, but then again you never know. Maybe you should talk with her and let her know how uncomfortable you were with her comment.

This is how i feel about it too....but at least let it be made known what would happen if she DID cut your hair.

Shoot...God laid out the Law for Adam and Eve...and he wasn't playin either!:nono:
