Hey Ladies!

Not sure if there's a thread about this already.....but I just found out that Miko from Miss Jessies aka Curve Salon has moved to Washington, DC. She's styling hair at a salon on U Street until her new salon is completed!!!

I just may get a angle/balance cut after all! ;)

You folks up north get everything!

I wonder why she's relocating?

I may consider coming to DC since I've been hearing so much about how Dupont in North DC is.

Hey Ms Bubbln! Happy New Year!

Yes, you should come visit. Just let me know and you can stay w/me if you like. (maybe I can get some of your hair secrets) :)

I heard the sisters had a falling out and they decided to go their separate ways.

hmmm... now this might be doable especially since i know i'm going to be in that area a few times in the coming months...

Yeah, I had heard something to that affect. But I had no idea it was this extreme....(opening a new salon in DC) I tell you I almost fell out of my chair when I came across this info.

They do roll & blow (sim to the domican technique) and they also relax. There a pics of the site. However, we don't know exactly what her new spot will be offering so If you interested I wouldn't rule it out.

I'm glad she's in DC. We in the metro dc area now have the option to check her out without the train/bus ride up to NYC.

I am so excited about this. My stylist who did amazing things with my relaxed hair recetly got married, sold her shop and left DC, so now instead of crossing my fingers and hoping she can do equally amazing trims and styles with my natural hair I get to go to an expert like Miko!

I can't wait to until I'm done with weaves so I can get a good trim (i did my own BC)!

Yes indeedy girl!....now let's make a pact the first person to book an appt will post a brreakdown of the services she's offering, and most important the PRICE!

Thats great news but she better not charge more than 150 for a haircut. :look: I'm going to give her a ring and see if I can get an appointment.

Oooh wwee I just may go check them out and get a nice angle/balance cut eventhough I am contemplating locs~!

Dang, that's too bad. I hope it was just business related and nothing that would cause them any personal strife.

Is Dupont Circle really nice? Is it close enough to her new shop? Yall getting me excited and stuff. A new hair cut would be great! But wait a minute.... I only want a shaping, I wonder if she would JUST do this without any other services being added on?

LOL now what did you hear about Dupont?

Now tell me, how did you run across this in the first place?

DuPont Circle is not that close when you consider the traffic and the lights. Granted it may be 2 miles away but again with the traffic and lights it takes forever (over 20 minutes) to get from there to 9th and U. Sounds like she is 2 blocks up from 7th and U which is near Howard University and down the street from the Bohemian Cavern. I wonder about parking - DC is famous for horrible street parking!

DuPont Circle is also well known to be supportive of "alternative" lifestyles. I didn't realize it until I went to a tapas bar there (YEARS AGO) and we were walking over to a 24-hour restaurant/diner joint and saw men holding hands and stuff. But that is what it is known for.

It is nice over there though but very expensive as far as living.

Wow, ummmm :look: interesting. Okay, since it's not close by, where do suggest I stay? I want to be around resturants, shopping areas, ya know, the life!

If you want to stay there it sh/ be cool. You can take the metro from DuPont Circle to the Shaw and U St. station which is right down the street from the salon. Much better way to travel and cheap too. The subways in DC are very clean compared to NYC. I remember riding on one for the first time in 1996 and I couldn't even hear the train coming.

Whatever you do, take the metro and that should make your travel easier. They have maps in the station AND online so you can map out which line (red/blue/green) you need to take to get to the Shaw and U St. station from your location.
