Did you marry/are you marrying your "type"?
I am DEFINITELY marrying my "type". We have been best friends since 10th grade. We share everything in common from love of video games to life goals. We come from similar backgrounds, the same city, attended the same pre-school (although we didn't know one another back then). Physically, he is everything I have always been most attracted to- tall, caramel, fit and very well put together. We are getting married NEXT MONTH (time flies!).
Congrats!!
I married my type all around; I wanted an athletic, tall, dark skinned brother that was educated, family oriented, valued marriage and shared the same values and goals I do. Boy did I get what I asked for.
He still gets on my nerves though but I choose to love him.
Personality - yes. He's a reader, he's funny, he's out-going, he's brilliant, he's arrogant (what can I say, I like a man who is very confident), yet he's humble, and he loves me from my twists to my toenails.
Physical - no, not at all. My 'type' was 6'2, dark chocolate, basketball type body. I married a 5'9, light caramel, footballer. And while I'll still drool, unabashedly, over my 'type' - I'm thrilled I married differently.
LOLOL your husband is exactly my 'type', but i have a feeling i'm going to get married to a man who more resembles your type, lean/basketball/dark skinned, real tall...
there's just something about hugging a football type man, makes you feel all safe... lol
It does!! And girl, since I've lost some weight and can get hugged tighter/all the way around - it's an AMAZINGLY safe and protected feeling. And I'm not even that kinda woman who craves a protector - but I've gotta admit, it does feel good.
Thank you for your responses ladies.
As I am entering the dating pool again I am realizing that my "type" are never the ones that attempt to get to know me. People say that I am too picky but I only ask for simple things initially; i.e. to be taller than me when I am in my heels, brown-skinned, and be a man's man. But what do I always get? Shorties that are light as he&& and lame. I don't want to miss out on my blessing by being picky, but how do you become attracted to someone that you are not initially attracted to?
Now I am not talking fine-ness, because Lord knows I have given "unattractive" men a chance (find my post in the dating ugly dudes thread), but I at least need something to attract me initially.
After years of frustration from my type letting me down, I did the scariest thing ever - and gave God permission to choose.
I asked God to choose who was right for me, and to make it clear as day to me that it was in HIS will, not mine. I knew HE knew who I was made to partner with.
God chose - and He's perfect. Forget my type - he is mine!! )
Oh. :blush3: There is one physical characteristic that I demand, and that he does have - - the number one reason I testdrive before I buy.
