Married/Engaged ladies....

Personality - yes. He's a reader, he's funny, he's out-going, he's brilliant, he's arrogant (what can I say, I like a man who is very confident), yet he's humble, and he loves me from my twists to my toenails. ;)

Physical - no, not at all. My 'type' was 6'2, dark chocolate, basketball type body. I married a 5'9, light caramel, footballer. :lick: And while I'll still drool, unabashedly, over my 'type' - I'm thrilled I married differently. ;)

No, apparently "my type" was arseholes/losers (bad boys). :perplexed

I thought Dh (just a good friend) at the time was "too nice". :spinning:

Thank God I wised up and realized that was what I needed and deserved in my life. :)

Oh. :blush3: There is one physical characteristic that I demand, and that he does have - :look: - the number one reason I testdrive before I buy. ;) :lachen:

I am getting married next year.

Yep on the personality type. He's my match in every way.

Nope on the physical. but he makes up for it.

After years of frustration from my type letting me down, I did the scariest thing ever - and gave God permission to choose.

I asked God to choose who was right for me, and to make it clear as day to me that it was in HIS will, not mine. I knew HE knew who I was made to partner with.

God chose - and He's perfect. Forget my type - he is mine!! :o)

I am DEFINITELY marrying my "type". We have been best friends since 10th grade. We share everything in common from love of video games to life goals. We come from similar backgrounds, the same city, attended the same pre-school (although we didn't know one another back then). Physically, he is everything I have always been most attracted to- tall, caramel, fit and very well put together. We are getting married NEXT MONTH (time flies!).

Congrats!!

I married my type all around; I wanted an athletic, tall, dark skinned brother that was educated, family oriented, valued marriage and shared the same values and goals I do. Boy did I get what I asked for. :spinning:

He still gets on my nerves though :wallbash: but I choose to love him. :lachen:

I know that's right...mine too...wouldn't trade him for the world, though! :lachen::lachen:

LOLOL your husband is exactly my 'type', but i have a feeling i'm going to get married to a man who more resembles your type, lean/basketball/dark skinned, real tall...

there's just something about hugging a football type man, makes you feel all safe... lol

It does!! And girl, since I've lost some weight and can get hugged tighter/all the way around - it's an AMAZINGLY safe and protected feeling. :infatuated: And I'm not even that kinda woman who craves a protector - but I've gotta admit, it does feel good. ;)

Yes I did. God gave me more than I ever could have asked for. I never had a physical type. It so happens that my FH is a cutie pie to me. :drunk:

In addition, personality and spiritually, he is exactly what I want and need. :yep:

Yep I married my type:yep:.

He's quiet, a homebody, family-oriented, financially responsible, respectful, playful, God-fearing and very smart.

Also, he's tall, big, and bald and very handy around the house.

his heart, personality and kindness is everything i wanted in a mate...so blessed that I married him!!

he is a good looking man...but "my type" was a dark chocolate man and my spouse is not dark chocolate at all...he is light skinned/caramel color :)

but to me the inside is what matters...not the outside :)

Thank you for your responses ladies.

As I am entering the dating pool again I am realizing that my "type" are never the ones that attempt to get to know me. People say that I am too picky but I only ask for simple things initially; i.e. to be taller than me when I am in my heels, brown-skinned, and be a man's man. But what do I always get? Shorties that are light as he&& and lame. I don't want to miss out on my blessing by being picky, but how do you become attracted to someone that you are not initially attracted to?

Now I am not talking fine-ness, because Lord knows I have given "unattractive" men a chance (find my post in the dating ugly dudes thread), but I atleast need something to attract me initially.

I hate for a man to put his hand on my leg and it feels like a baby is touching me! I need some meat on your bones. Make me feel petite bc I am not a small girl.

in intelligence he was my type

but in the physical no.

but after "my type" threw me to the floor, i felt it best to look to other types of suitors :yep:. :lachen:

he became my type, and developed muscles even - i didn't even look for that to happen.

Get attracted to the inside. I know, I know it's so damn cliche - but seriously. When I first met DH - I almost laughed at him - this short lil high yalla man trying to holla at me!!! But then he opened his mouth - and his appearance, really faded into the background - taken over my his smile, his intelligence, his confidence, and just his overall 'attitude'.

What you can do - is be willing to go on at least ONE date with a brotha who might not be your physical type - get to know, just a sliver of him, and see if that hooks you in to wanting to know more.

^^^^ One of my fav movies is Something New with Sanaa Lathan and Simon Baker. He wasn't her type but once she got to know him it was love.:infatuated:

I'm in the same boat you are OP. Good thread.

Yeah, that is the scariest thing. I"m trying to do it. My problem is..I'm attracted to a certain type BUT they are the bad ones. :perplexed I dont know how to like what I dont like..if that makes any sense.

I am going to marry my type. My fiance is sweet, intelligent, handsome, but at times he can get on my nerves. I think all men get can get on our nerves :0).

Yes, I married my type. It makes it nice because you aren't looking at anybody else's man wishing you had what they had.
