So far my moisturizing routine for humid weather is as follows:

On the sleek portion
Apply Hawaiian silky 14 in 1 for moisture
Apply generous wet line xtreme gel for hold
Apply thin layer of The Doux Bee Girl Custard for additional hold

On my ends
Apply Hawaiian silky 14 in one or do it any way you want it for moisture
Apply As I am Doublebutter cream for more moisture
Apply Blue Magic grease to seal

kiss edge fixer on the edges

Baggy hair all day and night

let’s see how my hair fares these next few weeks before I do my next length check

I think for super sleek hair, you may want to consider changing the order of the gels. Have you tried putting on the Doux Bee Girl Custard first and then Wet Line Xtreme? It seems the Doux Bee is more moisturizing than Wet Line and would give an extra wonderful layer of moisture before sealing with the Wet Line.

I let my non-curly stylist blow dry and trim my hair. If it still looks good curly, I probably won’t ever go back to my curly stylist.

I want my hair to get much longer so I need my trims to get all of the bad ends, but not take any extra.
I went 18 weeks since my last trim and that was too long. My ends were very tangly.

The doux bee girl has rock hard hold. More than wetline imo. Idk what it is but wetline gel hasn’t been holding my hair like I want. It’s giving medium hold. They really dropped the ball on this new formula

I woke up today and my hair looked perfect. Wavy, shiny and smooth.

FABULOUS! I wish I could get me some of that Doux Bee Girl over here where I live.

I've been extending my washes to monthly but my ends are safely tucked away in little fists secured with coated, rubber bands and in a baggie. I plan on doing my wash day the first weekend in May.

I'm still using the clay to cleanse and my hair seems to be calm and happy. I would like to do one splurge and buy a rich, gorgeous smelling, deep protein conditioner which imparts a long lasting scent on the hair.

Can I slide up in here and join you ladies? I’m fresh out of braids & while my hair has grown, my ends have not been tended to like they should’ve been. Had rotator cuff surgery in December & was pretty much surviving until I could pick my arm up again without inflicting pain.

Glad to hear that you are on the mend! Of course you can join as we would love to trap devil::yep::giggle:have you here with us!

After about 30 days I finally took down my hair. My ends were PERFECTLY preserved! FINALLY!!!!
I did get some breakage in the front, though.

Despite the small amount of breakage at the front, it still feels GREAT to have a hair victory! My ends were an absolute MESS before!

No sticky ends, no breakage on ends and no tangled ends: absolutely NO LOSS of LENGTH!
The roots were a bit matted, though. I feel like I'm moving toward a solution for my hair where I can preserve my ends without damage. Next goal is to figure out how to not have tangles at the roots.

  • I'll do a pre-poo to cleanse my scalp using essential oils as part of the mix and to break down the product build up.
  • Then, I'll put the henna infused oil on my hair.
  • Next, cleanse with clay powders.- Stops velcro ends from developing during the wash step!
  • After, condition hair.
  • Lastly, put in leave in and braid/style.
  • Leave in for another 30 days maximum.

I'm not seeing any HUGE length gains. But I am definitely not seeing in length losses anymore. What I do see is my hair thickening up at the current longer, length. It's a slow process but I am seeing progress.

I have not been this hopeful about my hair since I first discovered how to use Shea butter for my hair. That's about five hours (5) years ago, December 2016.

I am hopeful that I will be able to retain my length like the other professional length retainers who are in this thread!

Since I started using Hawaiian silky 14 in one and As I Am Doublebutter Cream to moisturize my hair and sealing with blue magic grease my baggy doesnt smell expired after one week. Will be pushing it to two weeks to see if it still continues to stay smelling good.

Baggying with natural butter products like Camille Rose or Aunt Jackies seems to have been imparting that rancid smell after a few days.

I find that moisturizing and gelling my hair every day prevents the roots from matting when i wear my bun but then again I never kept it in for longer than 2 weeks. I would love to go for a month but if I could consistently do every two weeks I would be happy.

I DO moisturize and gel every day. But, I braid my hair LOOSE at the roots to be able to pull the hair back into slick, smooth ponytail. With each iteration I am improving upon my processes. I'm just sooooo excited that I am not shredding, tearing and breaking my ends anymore.

I am trying to get me some of the Super Retention

Mojo Magic that YOU got going on!

I absolutely love this! You'll retain! I struggle with the same matted roots you do when I low manipulation for more than 2 weeks at a time. It's the shed hairs and new growth that causes it for me, but unless I am having a hormonal shedding, I typically have more gains than losses. I bet you will too! Yes to gains!

Oooo, I hope so. Thank you, baby!

I finished my hair late last night. My hair came out clean, shiny, soft and silky. It smells nice, too. I did not use a comb to detangle but did need to use a comb to part some of my sections. No Brillo pad ends, no sticky ends, no breakage on ends. The clays provide me with an amazing wash day experience.

Today I went into town and got some more gel, Scurl and Vaseline. Simple inexpensive items that go a long way for me and my hair, in my hair regimen. I can't find any of those items in my town where I live. I like to stock up!

Ugh.. I have been craving biscuits, and what do I see when I come into this thread? Now I have no choice but to go make biscuits.

But since we are being random and posting biscuits and whatnot, I have a random hair story. There’s a white boy we’ve known since he was a toddler. He’s always had longish hair, and his hairtype has consistently been 2a, from 18 months to when we saw him last fall at 15… still the same 2a. But something happened over the winter, and his hair is suddenly 3b/3c, with shrinkage to rival my daughter’s. In fact, the two of them are now hair twins. It’s definitely not a perm (family is all hippie-nature-survivalists). I know kids’ hair changes as they move past infancy, and sometimes again when puberty starts, but this is one of the most drastic changes I’ve ever seen, especially considering he’s been well along puberty for a good three years or so.

My guess is that he stopped shampooing/cowashing his hair and has gone fully water only. That immediately came to mind then I read that they are hippy-ish...

How about buying a fragrance oil of your choice and adding it to your clay masks. You can still buy a protein conditioner, but just letting you know that you can make wonderful smelling clay masks if you wished.

I can do this! In fact, I can add that fragrance oil to my LEAVE IN! Thank you for the suggestion Resident Genius Snoop!

I washed, (blow dried) and trimmed by hair today. I'm maintaining my length at shoulder length until most of my shorter lengths, and some of my breakage from damage catches up. I put in eight canerows for a braid out, but not yet sure how long I will keep the braids in. I never do braidouts because I dislike how thin my hair looks with the style. Hair is currently moisturised and covered with a silk scarf.
I took the braids down two weeks later. My braidout doesn't look bad to me, and I'm enjoying the results for a change. One thing I notice, is all the manipulation I am doing to maintain the style. I forgot to add that as a reason why I dislike doing 'set' styles like twist outs and braidouts. I like styling my hair and then leaving it alone for a week or two- which is why I enjoy my predictable wash n goes so much. On the plus side, I do like the fullness. Currently wearing half up/ half down.

So far almost 2 weeks with no wash and my baggy has no odor. I will be stretching to another week because I'm lazy.

Hawaiian Silky for the win!
Hawaiian Silky is the bomb! It kept my twists juicy these past 3 weeks and made my hair easier to detangle.

I thought I was going to keep my twists in for another week, while I was attending a conference. Nope. My scalp was on fire. My hair is too soft a texture to wash in twists, for it will both unravel and the shed hair just tangle around the twists. So I went to Target and purchased TGIN Rosewater Shampoo, TGIN Triple Moisture Conditioner, a blow dryer with diffuser attachment, and a generic tangle teaser brush. Luckily, I brought gel from home, so I was able to style my hair in a WNG. I’m starting to fall asleep, so I will rate the products later.

Edit:
I miss the twists I had. I just wish I had time to detangle and retwist. It was the first time in a long time that I was able to do two-strand twists and they looked great. Of course, I didn’t take pictures, but I will next time.
The products I chose to use served their purpose. The TGIN Rosewater Shampoo provided enough slip that I was able to finger detangle and use a brush. It leaves a coating behind, which I don’t like. The TGIN Triple Moisture Conditioner was okay. My hair felt soft, light, and coated.
The coating on my hair elongated my curls. I styled my hair with Hawaiian Silky and Curl Essence Gel. My WNG is a bit more elongated. It looks good, but I don’t know if I like it. I will take pictures this evening.
