Remember now, when you hear us talking about DC'ing on dry hair, we are washing our hair often. If you just removed braids, you may want to clarify your hair first to remove the mega build up and then DC, okay?

Ah, yes, definitely. Should I skip the overnight pre-poo? I figured it wouldn't hurt to let it "marinate" overnight :look:. Thanks Aggie!

I put the deep conditioner on damp hair and leave it on for a few hours or all day. Sometimes, I even deep condition while at work. If you work the deep conditioner in well enough, noone will even see it!

If you have build up, you will be needing to clarify your hair and pre-pooing would be defeating the purpose of a clarifyer which is to remove build up from the hair and you'd pretty much be wasting your pre-poo. I would recommend that you save the pre-poo for a time when you will not be needing to clarify your hair, okay? It sounds good to do but it's counter-productive in this case because of the excess build-up on your hair.

I buy my DC's and use them straight; that is why I invest in really good ones...I don't have time to be mixing in different things and tweaking conditioners...

I use AO HSR and WC. Then, I just decided to try some egg yolks, no whites to the mix. Leave on a plastic cap for 30 minutes, and no heat. I likey I likey. No LeKair for me. I am sticking to natural...cheap, edible and natural. Next time, I will try just egg yolk, honey and olive oil for about 45 minutes. I'll do this Thursday night just to see.
I would like to do a deep DC for growth twice a week, and the eggs/honey/olive oil/AO is cheap in retrospects...need more plastic caps though...

I specifically seek out conditioners that are for deep conditioning and I find a hair mayonnaise or cholesterol and mix the two. I like ORS replenishing condition, Ion Effective Care, Queen Helene Cholesterol, and SE R&R Hair Mayonnaise. I sometimes add a hot oil to them.:yep:

i do a yogurt treatment twice a week.. i let it sit in for abot 30 min w/ no heat.

I always wet style, so i constantly have a conditioner/oil combo in my hair. I use a cheapie conditioner like v05 or suave, mixed with extra virgin olive oil. It makes my hair sooo soft and shiny when it dries, i could comb it with a fine toothed comb if i wanted to!!

And i use ORS DC packet once a week and leave it in over night, rinse it in the morning.

I use Lustrasilk Olive Oil Cholesterol (it's actually a leave-in but I use it to deep condition) and then I add Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

I buy my DCs and use them straight. At the beginning of my journey I use to add oils to them but I don't have to now because I use oils generally. I don't mix anything anymore, too time consuming. Right now is about whatever is simplest, quickest and gives great results!

Yes, I deep condition all weekend. I wear a wig so no one can tell.

I use a few diffrent DC's but if its with heat 40 mins to and hour..and sometimes if I am lazy..I DC overnite..

i dc with suave humectant, salerm protein balsam, or palmers deep penetrating conditioner. Whichever one I pick for the week always gets mixed with honey, aloe vera juice, and oils (jojoba, coconut, almond, evoo, etc).

what are the benefits if any of DC on dry hair? I just DC my babies hair with Lekair cholestral with an egg added because her hair is breaking and I didn't have any mayo or Protein Condtioner on hand. Anyways what are the benefits? I let it sit on her hair for about an hour while she watched tv. She's in the tub now so we'll see what happens when she gets out.

I personally prefer to DC on wet hair, but there are benefits to DC'ing on dry. It saves time, for one thing. Some people hate having to hop in and out of the shower when they DC on wet hair, so they DC on dry. Also, from what I hear, some DC's work better on dry hair, particularly ones that are oil based. Aubrey Organics conditioners recommend that you apply them to dry hair and then shampoo it out. Another side benefit is that you won't have to worry about prepooing if you DC before you wash your hair. Even if you shampoo your hair should still be moisturized.

I do a little bit of all. I mostly use a DC over night. But sometimes I will add to the DC. If I am out of DC I will use plain conditioner and add other things to it. Because I DC so much I often run out.

I DC on freshly shampooed or co-washed hair and then don a shower cap and sit under my babyliss bonnet dryer for 45mins to an hour. Occasionally I may DC overnight. Sometimes I rinse out, sometimes I don't, so my DC then becomes my moisturizer which I then seal with Oyins burnt sugar pomade. I alternate between AOHSR, Silk elements megasilk moisturizing treatment, Louis Galvins natural locks DC and miss key 10 -en-1. I add stuff to boost the effects - castor oil, coconut oil, EVOO, grapeseed oil and honey. The best mixes so far have been with either castor oil or grapeseed oil.
I love deep condtioning! It's like my hair is getting a spa treat.

I like a Good, Quality, Thick, Creamy and Heavy Deep Conditioner that is made Specifically for Deep Conditioning Treatments. I use them for about an Hour with a Penetrating Heat Source i.e. Steamer, Heat Cap. I use it per the instructions

Once my Hair is out of 'Intensive Care,' I think I will be okay to just apply and put on a Plastic Cap. However right now it has got to be a Deep Conditioning Treatment with Heat.

I deep condition with a nice heavy moisturizing conditioner and my heat cap for about 20min or more depending...
Today I DC with my heat cap using Karen's Body Beautiful Luscious Locks Mask for 1 hr .... heck, that small jar cost $25 so I will see to it that I get my $$$ worth when I use it. Btw, I absolutely love it and it will be a staple.

I DC with either cholesterol or R&N deep conditioner, adding EVOO and a bit of aphogee protein conditioner. Typically every 1 - 2 weeks.

i use deep conditioners that are all natural straight. but sometimes i like to add coconut, castor, avoo, and avocado oil to the conditioner. all those oils.
makes my hair so soft and lush.

which ones do you invest in? I also dont want to be a mixer...

Can someone post a pic of the heating cap they use? Is there such a thing as a "cordless" heating cap? I don't think my DCs are working well. I'm using the bonnet dryer/shower cap combo and applying it with an applicator brush but still nada. My hair doesn't feel moisturized afterwards, I'm thinking my heat method may possibly be to blame.
I was going to get one of these (www.microwavecorp.com) but I can't get to the order page.

I use one with a Cord and it works extremely well. Saawrry, I do not know how to post the Link.

But it is the Mastex Heat Cap. It has 3 settings i.e. Low, Medium, High. I think I paid about $25.00 for it. HTH

I buy conditioner and mix ingredients in... I also use homemade ingredients and make my own yogurt, coconut oil, honey, molasses, essential oils, mayo, eggs (not all together) depending on what my hair needs...moisture and protein..

i usually mix a few oils in like EVOO, coconut and including peppermint oil and walk around the house for 30 minutes to up to a couple of hours.

I currently deep condition by mixing Kenra and main and tail condish, comb it through with a wide tooth comb, and saran wrap my whole head (this works better for me than using a plastic cap). Then I sit under the dryer for 15-30 mins.

My DC recipe:
1 cup KeraCare condition
1 tbsp EVOO
1 tbsp JBCO
1 tbsp honey
1 plastic cap
Sit under dryer w/ heat for 30 mins
Rinse
Final rinse with Roux Porosity Control, set for no more than 1 minute

Sometimes I use them straight, but I love adding a little oil and honey to the mix. I also will mix conditioner together to get a little of both at one time. For the last few months or so I started add protein filler to any conditioner.
