Are you a life long napp, like @Froreal3?
No, I wish! I got my first lye relaxer at age 7, broke my hair off no matter how much Perm Repair, VO5 Hot Oil Treatment, bergamot grease, placenta conditioner, etc my mother used. Next, was the curl; I was the first in school to get one. That was my staple for the rest of my teens and 20s. I had a feeling even in my teens at I would go natural, not under mom's roof, though. I tried the no-lye for 3 years, broke my hair off, no matter what I had used (Dudley's was the tops back then and not cheap) or what my stylists tried (weekly professional deep treatments, for example). Went back to the curl all by my lonesome, until I got sick of getting my hair done and wasting money. Grew and cut out the curl and tried to switch to texturizing... broke my hair off. I was done for life.

Transitioning since June 2014. I'm planning to be fully natural by June. The only reason I would go back is that wearing my natural hair straight doesn't go well with regularly working out.
