All I need is a touch up and a trim. Marcia is a sweetheart, but the drama in going in separately for a consultation THEN they tell me that my appt can be bumped if the salon owner has a weave appt was just too extra for me.

With Marvin I will get the works a cut maybe a glaze --- da works!!!

With Marcia do you have to get a consultation before every touch-up or just the very first one with her.

Just the first one but she said all appts are tentative meaning you can have an appt and they will tell you at the last minute that you got bumped. But if your name is Naomi, Halle or Vanessa that does not apply.

That is gross. But hey. I used to have a hairdresser who had every other Saturday set aside for her "every 2 week people." If they decided to cancel, then she would call the "others" who wanted to come in to fill in the special person's time slot.

A far as I know it has never happened to BRH...they proably just say that to make sure people know - as a courtesy...

I've only once had this happen to me for all the appointments I've made for touch ups and I've seen Marcia for years. On that one occasion, Marcia called me up and apologized and we re-scheduled for another date. For me, she is worth waiting for so I didn't mind.

As far as I know, Atate from the board is equally happy with Marcia and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else because of how great her hair looks since finding her.

Douglala, I believe that consultation is for a one time only first time visit.

I just called the salon to inquire about this "bumping of clients" and I was not given a clear cut answer. The receptionist told me they may re-schedule for a number of reasons including "being off schedule" and onforseen absences. She said they would give you 48 hours notice. I dunno. That seems a little shady to me. Marcia is really nice so when I see her next week I will be sure to inquire about this. I may not be Naomi or Janet today but you never know what little diva waiting to be born is sittin in your chair

I don't blame you. I would be on pins and needles wondering if my appt was going to get bumped for a more "important" client. And what if I had to look good for a special occasion?

I don't like this "bumping" business--that's what appts are for.

Oh, no doubt she is good that is why I wanted to see her. However, the only date she had avail was 2 days before my special event and a tentative appt just doesn't work for me. I don't say that I won't connect with her in the future.

I have a question abour Marcia. How much is the consultation before the touchup?

Can consultations be done during a rollerset?

Also, how would you suggest going in for the consulatation--with your hair having been air-dried, blow-dried, or rollerset? I mean do you think any of these methods allows for a clearer assessment/consultaion over the other?

No, they will not even wash your hair w/out the consultation. The consult is free. I went when I felt my hair was showing its true colours -- right after a wash my hair is straight so I waited a few days.

Just to clarify the rant wasn't against Marcia - she is so nice! It is just the rules underneath she works....

The owner of the salon goes on the radio to solicit clients that she treats like second class citizens to her celebrity clientle.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure I'd like that, either. When you want to get your hair done, you want it done! If she calls to reschedule, and she's that good, maybe it wouldn't be that bad. But if it happened more than once I'd have to find someone else.

I don't like that bumping thing either, no matter how nice the stylist is I'd be on tenderhooks 2 days before every touch up. Each client celeb or not should be just as valued as the next.

i would rather have someone bump me 48 hours in advance than to have me sitting in the salon, camped out ALL day long. my time is more valuable to me than that! when i got my hair done today, i was in at 1:30 and out at 3:00.

i think it's good that she's up front with people rather than wasting everyone's time! if i had an important event that i was getting my hair done for, i'd let them know up front to bump somebody else!!!

Adrienne, that is the point they don't care about you and your event, or me and my event for that matter. They are not going to make exceptions at this place unless you are a celeb.

Jazzy, both Atate and myself have been there when a celeb is and our work was done regardless. The salon isn't cleared. Hope this helps.

Wow... I really don't know what to say about all of this. I have been going to Marcia for awhile. I have been in there when quite a few celebs where in there and I have never been bumped for an appt or treated any less than them. They are regular people and that is how the salon treats them. In fact, I was there when the refused to do the hair of some Victoria Secret's Model because of some scheduling problem.

I am sorry that happen to you, but I assure that that is not the norm.
