I think my friend is lying!

Lonei has wl hair and only washes every 3 weeks.
Sylver has wl hair and only washes every 2.
There are other long-haired ladies who have similar wash schedules.
In fact, I just switched from washing weekly to biweekly, in order to manipulate less during the later weeks of my stretch.

The hairspray is a bit surprising, but if she is not using harmful types of heat, and is using an oil-based sheen, then her regi is pretty solid.

another question about that. . . is that what they were doing when they were SL or APL? like I can totally dig people who already have healthy butt length hair doing almost nothing or not cowashing everyday or not baggyin or using heat whenever they want. . . but what about the people who are still nursing their hair? :ohwell:

I knew her since JH, and she only had shoulder length hair until maybe just late 2006 to early 2007! She moved away and all of a sudden her hair grew to BSL! I asked her what she been doing and she told me that she does touch ups every 4 to 6 months, only go to the salon every 2 weeks for wash and sets, only uses hairspray (this is the part I don't believe to tough!) and only wears it one style which is wrapped at night and straight and flat in the day!

What do ya think could have made it grow so long

P.S. even though her hair is long, it's kinda got that bone straight look!

Sorry I don't get it, why does it matter that she is BSL? Maybe she doesn't wish to share her regime, it's her choice isn't it?

The real question is, why are people in here (this thread and the board) getting upset about certain statements; it's not like OP was like, "that tr**k got weave! She lyin'!" She simple asked if her friend's regimen was plausible. If I was her (OP) I wouldn't appreciate a stranger on a board "asking" me (aka, insinuating) that I was "jealous" or "hating"...

Now that I got my 2 cents out, I know my hair is at it's best when I just leave it alone, plain and simple...so I feel like she's telling you the whole story. Besides, she goes to the salon biweekly, right? Perhaps she has a great stylist who is helping her grow her hair out.

If your hair is damaged from jump, then I can understand the need for someone to start out doing all the "extra". I started out with my hair in jacked up condition, and I started off with daily co-washes...and as it got healthier and I grew a bit wiser with regard to my regimen and technique, I scaled back. I use less products and manipulate less, and I wear it out DAILY, which is a new thing for me, but I have realized that it can be done.

But the OP said her friend was merely SL, she did mention whether her friend's hair was previously damaged.

Also, I have viewed some women who grew it from short to long, by keeping it very simple...without frequent washes and baggying, etc... In fact, some members here grew it from short to long, and wore it out daily. As long as the regimen is healthy, the different techniques will get you there nevertheless, IMO.

:lachen:glad I am not the only one that thought people were actin all crazy.

You're certainly not; I've noticed a growing sense of animosity on this hairboard...we need to return to the happier times and just calm down, give advice to eachother, and grow some hair.

Well, as you've seen on the LHCF, there are many paths to hair success. If she's holding back, she could just be one of those people who doesn't like to share all of her beauty secrets. ;) On a side note, with growth like that, I wouldn't mind if she didn't out and out "share" her secret with me, as long as she was willing to drop a couple of hints. :drunk:

LOL that could be true! I'm glad that her hair is long and growing because alot of girls when they are younger learn the wrong way on how to treat their hair and now learn to properly treat their hair, I just wish she would share her ideas more in details because I tell my friends how they should care for their hair and it's no hating!

That's what friends are for, I know how to treat my hair now much differently than I did just a year ago and I tell my friends about the things I learn on this site and things that I knew all along!

Before I was natural I had a relaxer for almost 8 years, and my hair grew and was 1/2 inch from APL, but I didn't know what to tell them to get their hair that long and once I put a color in my hair I didn't even know what do for my own hair anymore!

Now that I'm a relaxed head again I know specificlly what works and not work for me! I tell all my friends what I do for my hair. I tell them about 65% and the other 35% I kept as a secret! lol

OP, if its really burning your enquirering mind, then I would say this with the sweetest voice,
"Girl, that hair of yours is so friggin' lovely, can you please share your regimen in more detail with me since we go waaaaay back, purrrty pleazzzzze?"

the OP titled the thread " I think my friend is lying" and then indicated she didnt think there was any way her "friend" could go from length A to length B in that year time period...

Others said, yes it can happen and cant understand why it was such a big deal to the OP...

I dont see any animosity in wondering why is it so important to the OP.... in fact, the only animosity I see came under the guise of support for the OP

but yeah, no biggie
:spinning::spinning:

Girl...you are too silly

But I understand, Heaven forbid somebody start a thread asking how everybody on here got their long hair:

"Why you asking? you think I got weave?"
"Hmph, you callin us liars?"

It might turn ugly...

On the flipside, speaking of five dollars, do you know the price went up to $6.50? Damn that inflation!

:funny:

and if she had, I would have cracked UP! :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

In all seriousness, I don't think the OP meant any harm. I do think the post touched a nerve because there are a lot of people here with BEAUTIFUL heads of hair who don't get much credit for their hard work (outside of the LHCF community, that is) so they take offense when it appears that someone else is experiencing the same thing.

why did this thread take a U turn?

i posted a simular thread to this years ago, my friend was lying about her hair products, when she got below bra strap, she told me her "secrets"

which was only low manipulation, paltas PKC cream, avocado and jojoba products...nothing too special!!!!

I think some of the comments are (over)reactions to the implication in the OP's statement that there was some miracle product her friend was leaving out that grew her hair. Alot of ladies here have found that there IS no miracle product, just good sense and solid regi that really RETAIN vs grow hair.

Being a newbie, soemone might still be in the mindset that if they just find that one right product their hair will shoot down to their butts, but some of the ladies here are tired of encountering that same attitude IRL and just snap a little.

Conclusion: your friend is probably not hiding a magical ingredient. She's probably telling the truth. But regardless of what she does, it doesn't mean it''ll work for your head, so you're better off building your routine from scratch. And nevermind the snapping -- I think it's PMS week.

Yep. IA with your entire post.
Plus these heffas are probably getting their "Friday crunk" on too. Let it slide.

Lol... why you care so much? I sense a lil jealousy... You're on LHCF so you have access to alot of regimens/ product reviews that many women don't have access to... you got a leg up already... what more do you want? :lachen:

My cousin only use ISOPLUS HAIR SPRAY in her hair go to the salon every 2 weeks but her hair the same lenght so different stokes for diff folks.

Dang, ya'll are turning into the LHCF mafia. You have the God Mommas, sistas tryna get made, victims getting wacked by b!tchy comments...its getting dangerous. I thought this forum was the safe one.

Her homie is probably on here, too. :lachen:

the OP's friend just started a thread on OT forum... " I think my BFF is in love with me"

Says the OP be tryng to whisper to her and be trying to slyly touch her hair.... even asked her to take her shirt off saying she wanted to see if her hair really touched her brastrap
:grin::lachen::lachen:
