Good to have you!

@ Lucia I'm glad you decided rethought it and decided to join us. I know you'll reach all of your goals for this year!

i've been doing well :) . there were a couple events i wanted to wear it down for, but decided i'd better stick to the challenge.

Hey ladies,

I had an interview Friday and wanted to wear my hair down but couldn't anyway because it is very nappy....I am 8 weeks post retouch and my ng is thicker than the last time. I wore my hair in an updo using the caruso rollers.....I can't wait until the end of the year to see the length....I need some braids or something to stay out of my hair...I'm washing it everyday because I need something to do.....

hmm i was thinking of updating monthly anyways, cuz its such a motivation for me to keep going...

but now im anxious to see a dramatic difference

Hello ladies! I want to join this challenge too! I watch my hair WAY too much and I will challenge myself to not even take pictures. I will barely look at my hair myself!

Luckily I haven't been tempted to wear my hair out since I weaved it up! I have someone else's hair to play with so, right now I have no desire to play with my own hair. Whoever's hair this is, is much lovelier and longer than mine right now!

Keep hiding it ladies:D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Rabia, please add me to the list! I have to join this challenge...I've been avoiding it (I wear my hair out entirely too much), but I need to be at APL by December, so I'm in  . I think I'll be doing buns mostly, but I may give braids a try for about a week, just to see how my hair does with them.

I was tempted for a few days but I had been wearing my wig and scarf...now I got it perfessionally braided up so I am good for the next two months.

Welcome girlie! I see we have the same goal :). I can't wait!

I've been on point yall! My hair feels really good now. I mean reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally good!!! I am so thankful for this board and you guys! :)

I'm on my way to the deep humid south so this is right on time.

Hi there! Add me to this challenge please. I'm already bunning it as it is and I do want to see some serious results by Christmas.

Hey ladies,

Im weaving/ braiding (but manly weaving) my hair untill christmas as the requirement of the challenge as i usually find that I tend to retain more length doing so. However i've noticed since taking out my weave today that I have lost quite abit of hair. Is this normal? I had the weave in for 3 weeks? I wanted to know whether any you guys got any tips on reducing the breakage when weaved up? As i figured if i could mimimise this breakage I could be retaining more length thus faster hair growth :D

Are you misting you real hair under the weave, b/c your real hair will get extremely dry while braided up. Get a water based spray like Scurl no drip, or make your own, with water, vegetable glycerin, or a light oil like jojoba. And there is major shedding when taking down the braided weave, esp. from detangling make sure you do this slow and start from the bottom and go up. take your time and after detangling a section loosely braid it halfway to keep it from matting. Even though I've been wearing weaves a while and moisturize I still get some dryness, when you take them down, don't braid up right after, take a month or 2 to condition your hair and put some moisture back in-check out the advice on www.growafrohairlong.com
BTW don't forget to do a S&D dusting (0.16-0.5inches) very little, on the ends to keep them fresh and healthy. hth

thanks a bunch ;)
my hair was extremely dry when i took the weave out,l my sister was dissing my on how dry my hair was , i didn't want to grease it up too much or anything b/c i didn't want the itchies and/ or build up. But a mist spray will be OK. do people wash with a weave in (<-- sounds wrong but you know what i mean lol), cuz i didn't wana do this either; b/c i thought it would make my hair matty and because the hair i'm using is synethic (sp?) (i cant afford real hair every 2weeks untill christmas i'm a student) i thought it would end up looking a HAM!

I'm in between weaves right now wearing quick weaves to give my hair a rest for a week or two before I braid it back up and reweave. Yeah, I washed my weave once a week. I just wash it in the shower and let it air dry. I co washed every few days when i was wearing a curly weave so it wouldn't look fuzzy. The last time I went to the salon to get my hair braided after taking out my weave she said oooh your hair is soft! I guess I did a good job of keeping it moisturized. In the past I did get that dry feeling after taking the weave out. I've never erally had any excessive sheeding or any breakage from the weave though. Now braids... that's a whole other story. HTH...

Count me in...I'm wearing quick weaves for now and I may get another sew in soon. I like the ease and comfort of a quick weave, but I have to watch out for breakage. So far I wet my hair or moisturize daily. I wash every 2-3 days and this is helping my scalp. I barely use shampoo since my scalp is staying so clean. I'm in it to win it...until December.

I've been doing this for a month now and really miss my hair. But it has to already be growing faster because my nails are no joke (they're long!) So I hope my hair gets on the same train and grows and retains the length.

I'm a 4a Natural.

We'll see where I'm at in 169 days. I hope for at least 3 inches. I think it's possible in 4 months (no trims till then either).

I like to leave my weave product-free for great body and movement, but my leave-in's (used to keep my real hair conditioned) is weighing my weave down.

Also, while wearing my sew-in weave, I can't BAGGIE like I want (and my natural hair loves) without the weave hair turning out wet and limp for hours!:(

Any advice?
