Hide Your Hair Until Christmas Challenge!!!

I would like to join...I am going to wear a bun most of the time. I've been thinking about get a phony pony too. I will definitely need a few passes though for a few special events. I am very excited to do this, my bf doesn't believe that my hair can grow to waist length, so I can't wait to get there :) .

I'd like to join this challenge too but my hair is too short for a bun/phony pony w/o stress on the nape area and it's just too hot for braids. Cornrows will take a toll on my hairline and I've never had a weave. Any ideas for me? My hair is at that in-between stage (bottom of my neck).

I had been wearing it in this scrunch and go style which really doesn't show it's actually length because it's all bunched up. Either that or roller/straw sets or spiral curls. Can those be considered hidden since it doesn't show it's "true" length, even though it's not?

You could get rollersets and pin up the curls. You could also do a low bun that way you're not putting stress on your nape.

Welcome!

Okay. I'll try a low bun and add a phony pony. Thanks for the tip. You can officially count me in.

Count me in too. I am even going to hide my hair from my soon to be husband. I am going into a weave this weekend for my Wedding and honeymoon in 9 days. I will keep the weave for 6-8 weeks then get a relaxer. I will wear buns and phony ponies. I will wear a bun with a sideswept bang only when I go out on a special occasion. I want to prove him wrong so bad. I can't wait to see his face in December when he sees my hair. It should be at least shoulder length by then.

I hate that he doesn't truly believe in me:mad:

I will show him...and his little dog too

(Laughs sinisterly and exits thread)

LOL. Okay I just finished my 6 month bun challenge but I love a good challenge so count me in. Ready set grow

My styles are bantu knots set, twist outs and braid outs. Wet buns for the reminder of the summer(as my fav wash and go style) And my favorite...going to the stylist every two weeks to get roller set which she pins into a french twist.

since u say you've never had a weave i think u should try one
i have one in now

if done right:

*there light weight
* allows your hair to breath
* are more stylish than braids or buns ( in my case allows me to keep them in longer since im not getting bored with them)
*come in various hair types i.e wavyshort, wavymedium, wavylong, curlyshort etc and straight hair too

I will need a few passes as well!!! I will be basically bunning my hair from now until then!!! Count me in :)!

hey... i would absolutely love to do this... but i need some style ideas first because i have been feeling my straight bacc cornrows...any ideas before i am a definite participant??? pm me please!!

I wanna be down!!, but I might BC b/4 the year is up-- that almost defeats the purpose :(........

......, But in case I punk out, Im IN!!

I would like to join this challenge. I will be wearing my hair in a bun and updo's. I will need to have a pass on July 7th as I am in my friends wedding. However, if I can convince my friend that us bridesmaids should be wearing updos then...have to check on that..lol.

I'm so happy so many people want to try this challenge:D

@ EbonyPerez- In terms of style ideas...you can be creative and try different updos. You could rollerset your hair or do a braidout and then pin it up in different ways. You could also experiment with buns (high, low, sideways). Buy some cute hair accessories and try different things. You could also try weaving it up. That's what I'm doing. When I'm not in that I'll wear my quick weave or phonypony.

@ amara11 - It's ok if you decide to BC before the end, but if you don't you will have the benefit of even longer hair due to this challenge.

@ Relaxedhairchica - Braidouts are included. You can pin them up if you want as well.

@ asha - I'm sure you'll be able to convince your friend. Most weddings I go to the bridesmaids wear their hair up anyway, but it's her wedding so in the end she'll have to make that choice. Either way 1 pass is fine.

I definately want to join this challenge. I will be getting a sew-in weave next week. My hair is currently natural but I do a permanent bronze color with blond highlights, do you think my hair will be OK and not break off? I did post this question in a separate if some one already read it. Thanks

Welcome!

I'm not an expert at coloring, and haven't seen your other thread. Is your hair currently breaking off? I know that colored hair needs a lot of extra care like relaxed hair does. And needs a lot of moisture balanced with protein.

Hopefully the color experts will chime in either here or in your thread :).

Wow, I really would like to join this challenge. I could really use the support. I want to remain faithful with no breaks or anything. The easiest way for my not even worry about my hair is to place it in individuals/ boxbraids with my own hair and bun it up.

I think that's a great style to keep. It isn't stressful to the hair in anway, you can still get to it when you want to condition, moisturizes, etc. Keeping it up in a bun once it's box braided will hide the length from family, friends, coworkers; and also allow you to retain length. Great style idea!

Welcome :))

I'm definitely in because that was my personal challenge anyway. December 31 2006 will be one year of growing my hair when I found the site. I am going to be wearing buns and phony pony tails. I just went out yesterday and bought hair to make buns the way dontspeakdefeat makes her buns and I also bought a phony pony but I will buy more phony ponies....Someone please tell me how to save this challenge thread so I will find it easy because this is one challenge that I definitely want to follow through on.

I am in. This is so funny I laughed when I saw this thread. I just had a BC and I said I was going to wear my hair up to Christmas. Everyone else thought I was crazy. Thanks LHCF sisters. I now have support.

Chick Thread Tools and go from there. :)

I"M IN!!!! I wanted to "hide" my hair for 2 1/2 years anyway, until I get out of the military, so this should be a breeze. So far I'm on my third month. I am deployed right now and I keep my hair in braids. 2 months in 1 week out. I am transitioning and trying to get on a really good regimin. I take my vitamins and wash my braids every 4 days and condition I keep my braids and scalp well oiled. It's easy not wanting my hair out now, the real test is when I get home. When December comes I will take progress pictures but then it's right back up in braids or whatever is not showing my real hair. I know if I go a few months without seeing my growth I will be amazed by my progress. GREAT CHALLENGE! Good luck to you all.:)

I am in! (w/ wearing my hair out 1 weekend a month)

I will be wearing cornrolls, buns, clips, phonyponies

Can't wait until the end of the year to see what happens!

I'm in. I'm doing the crown and glory challenge. This will be fun. I wonder how big my twistout will be. I'm going to have to rock a big one at these Christmas and New Years parties.
