Help....What's my hair type? (pic Heavy)

Ok, I'm in need of help here! I cut off my relaxed ends a month ago and I still don't have a clue what to do with my hair. I have tried Wash and go's, twist outs and braids outs and I don't have a clue.

I'm thinking if I had some idea of my hair type I could focus on YouTubers with similar hair that would help selecting styles and products. So far everything I do just looks bad.

Any advise or am I going about it the wrong way. Thanks!

Congrats on your BC. 3b/c I believe and good luck with the styles as I know how you feel. With my length I'm limited to what I can actually do and if it even looks decent lol. Do you have any pics of your attempted wash n gos, twistout, braidouts, etc? Maybe it's the products you are using.

Is 3B/C a typo? I figured to be in the 4 category since I definitely do not have silky textured hair....It is kinky but with a very soft feel to it. As far as the twist and braid outs they look too horrible to post, lol... they don't seem to hold in my hair....they puff up and just get frizzy.

two of the pictures are of wash and go..one wet and when dried.

I'm a PJ for real, so I don't know what products are best for my hair type because I have just about everything they sell at the BSS and so far nothing works.

I think its 3b/c because of the size of the curls and the fall of it, but if it's more cottony than silky I'd say 3c.

Hair typing is about curl size. That is it. Your curl size appears to be 3b/3c, in my opinion.

When it comes to the numbers and letters, I don't think it matters if the texture is cottony or silky, I think with this typing system it's more about the curl size. I would say you are a mix of 3a, 3b, and 3c. Your hair seems looser at the front and extra curly in the back. Congrats on your BC! :D

My hair and texture is similar to yours, more kinky than silky. Your hair needs to have a good moisture balance and the right products for a successful WNG.

OP,

I'll echo what's been said - I think you're 3b/c. Very pretty hair! Don't forget the protein - looser curlies need it!

Thank you all for the compliments but since I haven't found a style ye, I'm not feeling too encouraged.

I do use conditioners with protein and use my "protein" treatments once a month. I use light DC's (4 to 10 minute kind) 1-2 times a week and a 30 min DC with heat once a week. Should I be doing more protein?

You are correct, the back has the tightest curls and its looser on the sides and top of my head.

I thought the hair typing system was about texture but kinky was automatically 4 something and not necessarily curl size :spinning: Now I understand why so many dislike typing.

Sorry just now getting back on but yes curl type is the size of your curl. Have you tried a styler with hold to help? Your hair is gorgeous btw...

Thank you...I'm trying to like it but...ugh.

I've tried all kinds of butter and creamy stylers like the Camille Rose which was great on y relaxed ends during transition but didn't give a lot of definition to my new growth. I have not tried gels since they seemed too wet and sticky to use on dry hair (I braid and twist on dry to damp hair).
