Having long hair is a bad thing?

Some of my black coworkers can't understand why I keep my hair long. Seriously. They say there are limited hair styles you can choose from with long hair and it is not worth the hassle anyway. They act like it's a bad thing! Long hair can be challenging, but I don't think it is too bad if you learn how to manage it. I love keeping my hair in an updo for a long period of time and then letting it all out on some days. I totally think it's worth the compliments. Has anyone else experienced people telling them long hair is just not worth it?

I've never gotten this. But I have heard people tell me the steps it takes to take to get the long hair is not worth it. Their problem.

Sorry, I took so long to respond. My job just banned LHCF from all our computers Anyway, for me the hardest part about long hair is the detangling process. I need to be more patient with that. What does OP mean?

If your co workers never had long hair they may be saying this out of jealousy. But if they had long hair and cut it then it may have been a hassle for them dealing with long hair. My hair is almost apl and it is a hassle just trying to keep it healthy.

I totally agree with this comment--you cannot comment on something you never experience. How do you know unless you had it before? I believe that they never had it past even APL or BSL, then if they did I would respect them.

Well for starters I love your hair length, and I have the same problem but with my family, they see my hair now which is a thick apl. And I tell them how I want it longer and they look at me like i'm crazy.....but I just love long hair, it's simple.....I don't think it's that much of a hassle.....if you keep it simple.
